Save your bed and your money, this is a good product! (5 months in, still 5/5)
Here we go! Writing a long one in case it can help anyone else, since I spent way too long researching this stuff. I have a 2 year old Queen Simmons BeautyRest Recharge Mattress that (another long story made short) is Extra Firm. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Mattress would be a 9.5 or 10, with 10 being the firmest. So we got a plush comforter style Mattress topper which worked for a while, but eventually I ruined it by washing and drying it wrong. This begins my search for a new topper. First attempt was a 3" NovaForm Gel Memory Foam topper from Costco. Very comfortable and cool. I loved laying on it. It was about a 6.5/10 and felt just right. Except the itching. I had some kind of allergic reaction which apparently only 1 other person in the world had, itching and hot prickly feelings on my arms and feet. Even though it didn't affect my wife, I still tried to find another source of this feeling since I liked the memory foam feel so much. Eventually I couldnt handle it anymore and returned it. I then returned to the search again, but I still wanted a memory foam topper or now, even a new memory foam bed. I convinced myself to get a new bed, trying to decide between a GhostBed, Tuft and Needle or a Leesa. But my bed was only 2 years old, so spending 700+ seemed a bit crazy this early. I took to amazon and found this 2" Lucid topper. I almost got the charcoal bamboo topper, but figured I'd give this one a shot. After I ordered it, I started reading reviews about the smell, and how bad it is, how its unbearable, etc. I tried to cancel my order but it was too late, it shipped. THE SMELL: Don't Worry. I braced for the worst when it came. Opened the package, let it sit out for 24 hours in an open room with the window wide open. Maybe it was because I was expecting the worst, but it really wasn't that bad. Sure there was a smell, but it faded fast. Preemptively I sprayed a little febreeze on it about 12 hours in, which may have helped too. I put it on after the 24 hours of airing out, no smell. My sense of smell isnt great, but my wife is very smell-sensitive. It didn't bother her at all, which was the big test. I'd recommend that if it still smells, don't put it on your bed and cover it up. Wait for it to gas off, spray some febreeze on it, don't be impatient. You're gonna be laying on this a while, so whats a few days? But again, mine only took 24 hours. Putting a fan on it might help. HEAT: It's not that bad. Overall, it's pretty comfortable. Revived my mattress for a low price. I sleep very hot in general, and this hasn't been a problem for me either. Not as cool as topper-less or the gel, but I dont wake up hot or sweaty either. I'm going to give this 5 stars but I do have some critques. It doesn't look like the picture. It's a good product and works, but astetchically, it looks like cheap yellow foam. But in all honesty, do you really care what it looks like when you're going to cover it up? FIRMNESS: Firmness-wise, it is still firmed than i'd like. I'd say it lowered my 9.5/10 bed to a 8/10. Much better improvement, but I'd like a 6 or 7. Again, i'm giving this a 5 because that is purely personal preference and might be fine for you. I also like that i don't "sink" in it deep, but it does let me conform. OTHER: I've had lower back issues in the past. I don't wake up sore with this one, like I had been when i temporarily had no topper. So that's a plus. I'm not a doctor though. I'm also using the WEEKENDER Fitted Jersey Mattress Protector with Noiseless Waterproof Barrier for reference. Seems a good combo. END: Overall, good product for a good price. You might want a plushier one, but this will help you get more milage from your bed. 5 Month update- Still enjoying it and keeping a 5/5 rating!

Been using it for 3 1/2 months now
For the price, it's well worth it. We've it for a while now so I'm comfortable reviewing it now. I bought this beginning of December 2012. I have rheumatoid arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis) which made for an uncomfortable rest on our spring mattress. I've wanted an entire memory foam mattress for a while now but couldn't afford $2k for it. 3" seemed to be an ideal thickness as the price isn't too high and I wouldn't be able to feel the spring mattress through it. It turned out that 3" was a good choice thickness. When we got it, we let it air out in another room. It smelled pretty weird while we let it air out for a couple days. We turned it after the first day to help it air out faster. I also put our air purifier in the room with it. It seemed like it had a neutral smell after a couple days. I think the holes that are cut in the mattress helped it air out faster too. After it was aired out, we put it on our bed. We have a full size (would love at least a queen but can't afford it, oh well). It fit on top of our full size mattress quite nicely. The sheets fit around it nicely too, although a little tighter now. We tried pressing it to see what it would do. I sat it on also. It keeps a memory for a few seconds while it expands back out. When I first stood up after sitting on it, I noticed it had a memory of my back pockets and even a couple wrinkles on my pants. I had my cat walk on it and it kept a memory of her paw prints for a little while. I live with my brother and his wife and their (almost) 2 year old. We all tried it out and agreed it was quite nice. My nephew kept burying his face into it. He loved it more than anyone, lol. The cat had a little too much fun and cut some of it up by digging her claws into it. Then she tried to eat it but we caught her. I wouldn't recommend letting cats on it without a sheet over it. After all that, we slept on it the first night and it was like night and day. It felt like we were sleeping on air. I really haven't slept on a better bed before we had this memory foam topper. I haven't slept on a complete memory foam mattress though. But this is perfectly fine for me. It doesn't get hot or cold, it's just like sleeping on our old mattress except it's actually comfortable. My RA still has flare ups that wake me in the night but if I'm on my meds and they are working, I don't notice how bad the mattress was before. I bet you could sleep on the floor with this and it would be just fine. I'm going to try it out in the summer when we go camping. It really is comfortable and affordable. Definitely worth buying in my opinion. The worst part about it is the smell but that lasts a couple days. It's fine after that. I took a video and posted it on YouTube but you'll have to search for it by using "Xander being a nut". I'll try to make another video of the memory foam mattress when I have some extra time.

So far, so good. Our mattress was beginning to get too firm for my taste. Instead of buying a whole new mattress, which would have been way more expensive, we decided to give this 3-inch mattress topper. From the beginning, I was really sold. I had some back pains before and stiffness. It's all gone. Honestly. I now dive into my bed and get a better comfy sleep than before. Of course, I needed to change my pillow also as I am a back and a side sleeper. A more dense, firm or high pillow is not ok anymore. I now use a more hotel type pillow, fluffy, but with fair support. 3 inch is pretty thick and this mattress topper is really soft so it provides a cloud-like support. Works perfectly with my wife and me. You may need to validate if you need this thick, or 2 or 1 inches. My advice would be to test some in mattress stores, or at least try which firmness you like. Personally, I wanted a soft supporting topper. As mentioned earlier, it really fixed my back pain and stiffness and I sleep better. It took about 2 weeks for my body to adjust and it's normal. You need to be patient and logic about this. For my wife and I,it was the right call. Hope this will help you, but remember it's all pretty much personal and subjective, even the pillow choice (my fight of a lifetime that I seem to have stopped for now...).

Purchased this product for a guest fold out bed. It was the perfect size and width. Very comfortable. It took much longer than the 48 hours advised to completely expand once it was out of the box. I think it took nearly 5 days in total. Delivery was fast and as promised. Very happy with this product - great product for a very good price!

Waiting till we had used it for a few weeks to write a review. Absolutely love it, you don’t sink into the foam and it doesn’t create a shape.
