i was surprised to find this replacement for the broken i had. good quality, fit right in. good sound also.

My friend, formerly from San Francisco, bought a little San Francisco cable car music box at an antique mall. The cable car was in great shape, but the music box mechanism didn’t work and needed to be replaced. The mechanism we bought and replaced it with plays “I left my heart in San Francisco” and works perfectly. It’s as good as new!!!

It only played a few notes before it stopped (on a full windup) I'm hoping a little sewing machine oil will help. I haven't yet tried, but I'm guessing it's only from sitting in a warehouse somewhere. It was the tune I wanted and the shipping was timely and packaged good. I'd recommend for the price.

I was happy to find a replacement for the Lador Swiss mechanism (as the wind-up spring had broken) but quickly turned into a disappointment as the new unit, Yunsheng, not only it does not play the full song but skips lines. This is an inspired piece, not the Silent night. I am posting images to show that the drum is wider on the original, and has more pints - although the diameter does not appear to be thicker.

When I opened the packaging and played the music, the volume was very soft and I was discouraged. But my hubby is a musician and said that it needed to be inserted into its box and the sound would be magnified. It worked!!! And now I have a music box that works again. The fit was perfect and screw holes exactly where the old ones are.

I replaced this in my daughter's music box. It took some doing, but I was even able to re-attach the little spinning ballerina. And the fact that it is a Frozen song actually made my daughter like her jewelry box even more than she did before. The only downside is that it took a long time to get here. It looks like this works for a number for different attachment types.

Beautiful sounds from this little musical box workings. Finished nicely in shiny brass it looks great in the little box I am making for it. Perfect Christmas present!

I have not actually installed the music component in my miniature model but I was able to line up all the holes for the screws. I was able to tell from product description that the exterior size was likely correct but I forgot to consider the depth of the screws and the wind-up key. Luckily they (about 1 cm) appear to fit. The product came with 5 screws though I only need 3 so I even got backup screws. It appears there is a rotating part that can stop the windup movement if it is stopped from rotating. It’s not easy to see in the video but that might be helpful to note for those installing in an actual music box where the music stops when the lid is closed. The sound is amplified when placed upright vertically compared to if you just hold it up. The volume is pretty good. The melody is accurate and loops very nicely. It was packed well to keep parts from damage. Music component and the screws + key are bagged separately in plastic bags and then put in bubble wrap, then in a cardboard box that is then placed in a bubble envelope. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
