The tension is not enough to hold anything. I bought these to span from the wall to the wooden medicine cabinet. I thought I could hang a roll of paper towels for cleanup and a hand towel on a separate one. No mater how much tension I put it just slides out of place. They're either an extremely hard rubber, or they're plastic. I can't tell for sure, but depending on where you use the rods, they might not "grab" well. They might slip. I tried using one between a kitchen cabinet and the wall, and the cabinet was too smooth a surface for it to grip well. I resolved the issue using some stick-on rubber feet.
