Nice quality of canned salmon, good flavor
This salmon was perfect for making salmon cakes. I make my salmon cakes using a vintage Old Bay seasoning crab cake recipe. I use the same recipe to make tuna cakes. It is not the recipe on the newer Old Bay tins. It is the older recipe that uses a slice of bread soaked in milk, egg, mayo, baking powder and worchestershire sauce in the recipe. If you find that recipe it makes really excellent lump meat Maryland crab cakes, salmon cakes, tuna cakes, etc.. I have omitted the Old Bay added some poultry seasoning and used the recipe with canned chicken to make chicken patties that were very good too. Anyway back to this canned salmon, it's nice, really perfect for making salmon cakes. It seems to be a bit better quality canned salmon than a brand I was buying in Food Lion. I lucked out and got this at a very reasonable price. I now always check Amazon for prices of canned and shelf stable items before shopping at my local stores, Aldi, Walmart or Target, and I find the prices are often less on Amazon. Everyone should check out Amazon prices.

Fish to be Sought
Fantastic. Tastes great, super-healthy. It seems to have been cancelled. I sure hope not.

A great buy when it's on sale.
This salmon is already cooked and it contains both bones and skin. The bones are extremely soft and can easily be chewed, plus they contain a-lot of nutrients. I throw a drained can of this salmon into a food processor and it makes amazing croquettes. 2 out of 8 of my cans were dented, but that is a packaging issue and not a fault of the product. I would go with boneless and skinless if I wanted salmon for a salad. When this goes on sale it's a fantastic buy for cheap protein, but it's a bit expensive at full price.

Just the facts, Ma'am.
The flavor of the salmon is very good. A bit of what I call discard which is mush at the top of the can and expected soft dark meat. Very little skin and bones. My cat loved that. All in all, out of two cans there was about two thirds of a can of discard and water which went to the cat. A major complaint is that the cans were dented and damaged in shipment or before they left the seller. I used two cans immediately which changed my dinner plans because I didn't want damaged cans sitting on the shelf. Salmon patties were excellent and mild. No strong fishy flavor. The salmon flavor gets 5 stars. Subtract .5 for the amount of discard and dented cans minus 1. Pics of cans below.

Such a great buy, I hope to buy more!!!
With the price of canned salmon sky high, I was thrilled to find this special sale on Starkist Pink Salmon, and bought the limit that I could purchase. The salmon was slow in arrival, but the wait was worth it. The taste and quality was great, with more fish and less water than some other brands. I kept trying to figure out why the salmon was discounted so much, but the only reason I could find was the label was upside down! And that doesn't bother me a bit!

Great canned salmon
These cans of salmon were only $3 for a can. That's a good price. Much less than what the grocery store charges. Bought 4 cans, the maximum allowed. Also ordered 4 cans on Subscribe and Save for only$10.20. It's worth it. This is tasty salmon. Very versatile. Beef is crazy expensive now, so I make salmon burgers with this and it's healthier. Good for salmon loaf. Good with pasta salad. On crackers. On a bagel with mayo and dill. Good for a treat for my cats after I debone it. There's very little liquid in the can. The fish are nice and firm. No chunks or tiny flaked pieces. Yes, there's a small amount of skin. Barely noticeable. Bones are soft and can be easily removed if wanted. Starkist also has a lower sodium option sold by the case which is also delicious. Highly recommend. High protein and Omega 3s. Well worth it!

Mush and liquid, awful quality, poor value
Was shocked upon opening can! Used to use Bumble Bee's version having large pieces of salmon in can and easily scraped off the skin. This StarKist product is mush, tiny pieces of salmon mixed with skin and salty liquid. Had to search to find the fish and separate it out from the mush - 1/2 hour of tedious unpleasant work. Also, salty taste even after removing liquid. Terrible product, and poor value. From the 14.5 oz can, no more than about 5-6 oz of edible fish for $4.49! Note, many reviews are similar to mine and some contain false info such as mercury caution. Salmon has little or no mercury, but tuna does. Some reviews heap much praise and excellence on this product - very suspicious. Reviews on many food products including this one, range from great to terrible for the same product, so what to believe? For example, Amazon's AI summary often says reviews are "mixed" and when I read the reviews they range from 1 to 5 stars. Many even state they gave the product to their cat or even threw it out! So deciding on whether to order a product based on reviews, is a big gamble and a hit or miss, you just don't know. I have ordered hundreds of products for 8 years so I know.
