Carpenters Gold - Greatest Hits

This brought me back in time to age 12-13, the Carpenters were very popular back then. Loved all their music, and Karen Carpenter was an exceptional vocalist. Sad that she died an early death.

As an audiophile and Carpenters fan, this is THE greatest hits to get. My other Carpenters greatest hits CD makes Karen’s lovely voice sound like she is singing inside a large metal sewage pipe. Ugh. This allows the buttery beauty of her vocals to be heard in a more natural, realistic environment. The instrumental accompaniment is clear, present and natural. Worth every cent!

There are more compilations of greatest hits by the Carpenters than on can shake a stick at. However, this Gold issue sounds truly exceptional for such old material. I remember the Carpenters very well indeed as I grew up in the 60's and early 70's. This version is not the double disc version with the same facade, and has 20 tracks. And while you can get the double disc with a wider song selection I am not sure if it will stand up from an audiophile's perspective as this is just Gold version is just awesome. All the major tunes are hear for you listening pleasure and oh what a pleasure it is to hear Karen Carpenter sing. Her loss was so tragic. If you think you can do without the additional tunes on the double disc set I highly recommend this version based upon it's overall sound quality. You will not be dissapointed.

This CD has the best of the music from the Carpenters. Karen is the best female vocalist ever and love the album.

Wonderful album from classic group

Jeder kennt die Carpenters, doch den wenigsten ist es bewusst. So war es jedenfalls bei vielen meiner Freunde, welche diese Scheibe bei mir hören durften. Schließlich kannten sie die Titel, jedoch niemals in dieser Qualität. Was war das Ergebnis? Die CD-Box wurde ungläubig begutachtet. Klar vor Jahren mal gehört, doch in dieser Form nie. Nun, eine "alte" Band welche eigentlich bekannter ist als vielen klar war. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt! Viele Zuhörer äußerten teilweise: "Ach die waren das?",und notierten sich anschließend dessen Namen. Mehr Aussagekraft ist wohl kaum zu erreichen. Wer die Carpenters kennt muss diese Scheibe besitzen, wer sie nicht kennt, sollte sich zumindest damit auseinander setzen und Klangfreaks kommen auf jeden Fall in den Genuss einer hervorragenden Darbietung der besten Hits dieser Künstler. Sehr analog! PS. Gibt es auch auf Platte, vielleicht noch interessanter?

Good collection, if you are looking for one stop collection of Carpenters, then this is the Audio Cd that you should be buying. I am lucky to have purchased from Amazon for ₹300 odd.
