Love and friendship between man and dog always makes a good story and an excellent read when put in books. This is one of them. Also a bittersweet wartime story.

Very well researched and written. Highly recommend even for high schoolers.

Easy reading because meant for young readers. Returned it because I'd rather have an adult version but what I read, it was a awesome story and had lots of photos! There is truly no better friend than a dog!! The history of this heroic dog in the time of war is truly remarkable as told in this book!! I highly recommend it for children or teens and some adults might find it intriguing as well! ..

Son needed a book for 8th grade , kept him interested and reading !

As a teacher I loved this book (read it with a 9th grader, but would be a great read aloud with 5th grade & up). It was a wonderfully written historical account of WWII’s horrors (not overplayed for kids). The dog & his people were amazing!

No better friend than this man and his dog found out and that’s a very true statement in life I find a dog or cat is a very good friend and it gives you always comfort and they have senses we don’t so this is a very moving and touching story and a great read

I finished “No Better Friend” in 24 hours. This is only the second book I’ve read cover to cover, as generally I lose interest halfway through. I didn’t realize I’d accidentally ordered the young readers version until halfway through, I’m 29 years old and enjoyed this book as much as any teenager would! I’ve been a pointer mom for 5 years, and enjoyed the comparison between my dog & Judy. It’s amazing that the breed has remained the same for almost 80 years. I did find myself sobbing in the last chapter, mostly because we don’t deserve dogs! Cheers to Judy, Frank, and all the men who helped her survive.

It’s a relief that in a world of superficiality, petty jealousies and a declining respect for each other there was once a time when humanity,support and love for each other regardless of circumstances was tantamount.
