Every wedding needs a great photographer to record the special moments perfectly, and every photographer needs this guide. Filled with expert advice from an acclaimed portrait and wedding photographer, this comprehensive guide starts with choosing the right equipment and considers some tips for effective planning prior to a shoot. It goes on to the big day itself, offering extensive advice and suggestions as to what to capture before, during, and after the ceremony. There are tips on post-production and image presentation, and the 200 sample photographs provide inspiration. For perfect wedding photographs, you need look no further. Review: Book review: Wedding Photography by Cleghorn - This book grows on you. It's a hardback with a nice book cover. At first glance it seems out of date in it's presentation. It leans towards the Top Hat and Tails wedding scenario. It isn't glitzy with full page fairy tale example shots though. There's not a lot of technical advice on setup of individual shots. If you need that don't do weddings. But I found myself reading it 3 times from cover to cover. The book flows through the typical wedding scenario in a precise timeline approach. Much like a military mission briefing! It just makes a lot sense with practical advice for every situation in the wedding work flow. Included is Cleghorn's list of 48 must have shots. He emphasizes planning and preparations as key values to success. Since I shoot mostly less formal outdoor weddings it was a good review for me (preparations and planning) weeks before (and night before) the big day. There are no second chances at weddings! A missed shot is gone forever. He correctly points out that no matter how modern/contemporary the clients may be there are some very traditional expectations to every wedding. After all mom and dad must be happy too. He provides some helpful checklists for dealing with client interviews to determine the expectations and deliverables to fulfill the clients desires. This is a good book for the photographer who may have a few weddings under his belt and can understand from experience how fast paced a 6-8 hour wedding shoot is and how quickly it can get out of control(ie:lost shot opportunities). Preparation and planning are definitely the key to success. A large portion of the book (~30%)is dedicated to post-production workflow using photoshop and associated programs to create the albums, slide shows, dvd's in a finished product. If you are a photoshop "pro" you may think to glance over this section quickly but there is a lot of practical business info embedded here. Figuring out how to deliver the finished product and get paid for your work is not an easy step for most photographers. Many just like to take the pictures. But getting paid determines whether you will be in viable business or not. I like this book a lot. I'd definitely like to work with Mr. Cleghorn. Review: Wedding book - This is a good guide for the wedding photographer, it walks you through each step from the thought of becoming a wedding photographer to the finished product, Good book.

love this book!!!
I Love this book, its great if your starting out, it describes what you have to do or need to get but also gives you images. He gives you 48 of the must have wedding images checklist which is in written but next to the checklist are pictures of every point in the checklist, which i consider is great for all of those who have a difficulty trying to image what he is talking about! The book includes a small review over lenses, cameras body types, flash, off camera flash, then its what he does before a wedding. you can find questions you should ask at the first wedding interview and questions that you may be asked, also what to do the day before the wedding. picture examples of the bride getting ready, details, bridesmaids, parents, the groom, the church, arriving to the church, guest, the ceremony, leaving, the party, and much more! i have this book for about a year now and i am constantly going back to the book and reading over a certain chapter just to refresh my memory!

Best af all, to me
When you're in for wedding photography the book from Mark Gleghorn is your best choice. I am the very lucky owner of several books regarding this subject and this one is the very best of all. You must have this when you like wedding photography, and to me it fits very well with Julie Oswin's Contemporary Wedding Photography

Wonderful place to start wedding photography.
Many years ago I did wedding photography in the days of film. Digital photography has completely changed wedding photography, manly because of the change in economics. This change in economics as allowed many more photographs to be done on a wedding shoot and as a consequence, more informal photographs too. Of course I took informal photographs before but there is a staple of formals ones that must be done and those used to eat into the film available. The photos in this book and the advice is really top draw and it shows how far for the better things have changed in the last 25 years. Well worth the read.

Amazing!
This book definitely gave me some pointers of things that I didn't know regarding wedding photography and it was nice to receive that advice from a professional such as Mark Cleghorn. He covers everything that actually happens at a wedding and the types of poses that are expected. I now use this as a guide when I do weddings so I don't forget anything. The pictures in the book are absolutely fantastic and I would definitely consider and am planning on getting the rest of his books.

Great book - I'm impressed!!
I've saw Mark Clegorn's work in some of his many videos on the web and after looking at the Amazon reviews and having some gift cards, I decided I would buy the book. I've bought a few books and have never been really impressed by any so I bought this with a little trepidation. However once I opened this and read through the first few pages, I knew this was the book I should have bought months ago!! It's crammed with images, detail, and useful information and for anyone starting out in the wedding photography business it's an outstanding resource. Other reviews state his images are stunning and inspirational. Whilst many are beautiful, I thought many were more the type of images that most photographers should look to take on a wedding day - all very well shot and composed. This actually pleased me more because too many books show the author's arty photoshopped images rather than the range of images they had actually shot throughout a wedding day. And Mark's book does just that. His images are images we can all shoot - he just makes it simpler to understand and provides the detail to enable us to do so. He shows that posing and setting up need not take longer than a few moments. This book is about everything to do with photographing a wedding! In fact when reading the book, I felt that I was at a wedding! Each section runs through each stage in detail and gives many tips and things to watch out for. As others have said I didn't think I'd get so much from this book and I was wrong too! A really great book for those starting out or recently started in this business. Even some professionals would get a lot from this book. Now there's no excuse for missing something at a wedding :) Top class Mark. A highly recommended publication.

At last..a true book that really does help you make the push to shoot a wedding..
Buying a good book to help you shoot a wedding for money is a serious hit and miss business on Amazon, as more often than not, if you had the chance to browse a book first, then you probably wouldn't buy it! Not the case with this book. It really does take you step-by-step on almost every aspect of wedding photography, from the right equipment down to timings of events, questions you should be asking the bride/clients down to digital post processing/ workflow advice. The writer also gives great advice as to how to best utilise light and compose a shot effectively. The book has hundreds of very good photographs throughout. Peppered throughout the book are valuable tips and pointers, and I really get the feeling that the writer genuinely wants the reader to succeed. The only reason why I am scoring this book 4 stars instead of it's deserving 5 stars is that it is horribly out of date for the digital shooter..which this book really is aimed at. In the book, a Canon EOS 5d is considered a pro camera and it's easy to see that at the time of writing, a 5d was serious cutting edge gear.. the writer even entertains the notion of a point and shoot, as was common when digital started out. If only they could revise this book and try and update it...it would and still in many ways SHOULD be the first book any aspiring wedding or events photographer should buy.
