I had the sandbag base for my Garmin GPS so I saw NO need to buy another one when all I needed was the "Clip" to hold my iPhone 7 plus. It also holds my Garmin GPS which is about a 1/4" bigger than my iPhone in a Speck case. It holds it perfectly in Landscape mode which I will be using it in almost 100% of the time. It can be turned to use it in portrait mode if you so desire. I love the sandbag base as I didn't want anything that adheres to the windshield or the dash. I've used the base for YEARS with my GPS and have NEVER had a problem with it slipping or moving. Very happy with my purchase.
