These are my favorite gloves to use. I wish the palm was completely open but these allow great grips still. Ill continue buying them every time I burn through another pair. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent starter gloves *by L***W on March 26, 2013* Rating: 4.5 stars I started doing Muay Thai and other MMA about 7 months ago. I used classic 12oz gloves most of the time. I decided to switch to a 4-5oz pair and start getting more serious about my grappling and striking. I didn't want to drop a bunch of money before knowing what worked for me. I must say, these are fantastic and not just for the price. I think the quality definitely reaches above their retail value. They fit well and stay snug during extended bouts and don't overwarm your hands. Most importantly, they protect your hands and your opponent's body. I have two very minor complaints. First, the thumb strap could use a little soft fabric or rubber to prevent cutting into the skin during the break-in period. I constantly had rake marks on my palm from it until they were good and broken in. Second, the digital padding is a little bulky. After a month of striking, the padding hasn't smoothed out at all which I think speaks to it being a design decision. I do understand these are 5oz gloves though so the weight has to be made up somewhere.
