Worth it. Works great
It was easy to assemble and came with all needed screws. Fit my bedroom doorway and easy to work. Alignment and sturdiness seems great in the door frame. Great closure and baby can still see out. Worth the money for safety.

Attractive, heavy duty gate, latch & hinges are very smooth, might not be best as a toddler gate
I got this for a pretty unorthodox reason but I'm really glad I did cause it's working out really well for me. I have a litter box for my two cats in the bathroom because it's the easiest place for us to keep it contained....unfortunately I also have two dogs and they will make a huge mess out of it if I don't keep them out of there. For a while I was using a regular baby gate but it was such a pain in the butt to have to step over it every time I wanted to go in and out of the bathroom. I also had to put a box on either side of it so that they could get in and out without having to scale the gate so I not only had to step over the gate, I also had to step over the boxes. And taking the more traditional baby gate up and down over and over again is not a fun task so I was kind of at my wits end. When I got this one I was hoping the bars would be just wide enough that they could fit their heads through but unfortunately they were just a little bit too close together for them to fit.....which ordinarily for most people I'm sure would be a good thing since these are generally used to contain more than one species of creature to one side or the other, haha. After looking at the problem logically for a few minutes I realized that I could actually just mount the gate in the door frame about 5 inches up from the floor so that the cats can pop under it easily but the dogs can't fit through it. And it works PERFECTLY. The frame of the gate is obviously higher off the floor so I have to remember to step over it and I suppose it could be a trip hazard for some, but I haven't had a single problem remembering. Install was actually remarkably easy and it was very well described in the directions - just insert the four pins in the holes at the four corners, hold it in the doorway, and then unscrew the tension cap thingies until the rubber feet are firm against the door. A couple review said it would be better with two people but I did it by myself in 2-3 minutes. I was dumb and didn't even measure my door frame first (Durp!) but even though the item description says 29"-39" opening I was actually able to fit it into the 28 1/2" door frame. Upon first trying it I was actually really afraid it was going to be a bust and not fit even with the tension caps screwed in as far as they would go, but with a little bit of exertion I was able to get it to squeeze in and then only needed to unscrew the caps maybe 1/8" on either side to get it to stay super firm in the door frame. This one stays in MUCH better than the wooden baby gates that I've always used in the past. Even at their tightest with the little notches that the metal piece fits into I could never get nearly as nice, firm fit as this one has. And actually at first I did have it extended too far and the latch kept sticking really obnoxiously but I unscrewed each side just a few turns on and it works very smoothly now. The gate also comes with an extender to make it up to 7 1/2" longer but I obviously didn't need that and ended up just storing it in the closet in case I ever decide to use it in a different area. The latch is extremely easy to use.....which would be a blessing and a curse for most people using it as a baby gate. It does have a little red "lock" that fits over the latch so that it can't be opened, but I can tell you right now my friend's very smart 2 year old would have this sucker figured out in a matter of minutes. I'm not really sure how you would avoid that though because unlike the baby gates that have the closure that can just be put on the other side, this one is right on top and pretty easily reachable. Fortunately for me, no matter how brilliant they are, my dog's don't have thumbs... ;) The metal of the gate itself seems really heavy duty and sturdy and all of the fittings were really nice quality as well. I imagine this gate is going to hold up for a long time and I actually think it looks more attractive than the standard wooden baby gates too. My dogs are pretty annoyed I've blocked their access but the cats and the rest of the family are all happy not to have to deal with that nasty nonsense anymore. :)

Good gate! Stops my dogs from running out
I am so pleased with the Regalo gate! I puppy sit and have multiple dogs in my home. Some dogs will try and run out the door the moment its open and this gate has stopped that from happening! It fits very well. Im very happy with this gate! Its a good product! Easy to install but you need 4 hands to put it together or at least I did

32 Inch Door Here - Purchased for My Dogs - Decent Product
My review is a little long, so grab a drink and sit back. I know that this gate is mainly for children BUT it is also listed under pet products when you go to the Amazon pet category. My main reason for purchasing this gate is because my wife is tired of setting up our existing gate system for our two small dogs (10 lbs each) every time we leave the house. The gates we own are an older model of the Evenflo Memory Fit II Gate , which work VERY well (the pressure is strong enough to where they don't/can't push the gate down). However, setting them up is a real pain and because my wife's mother purchased North States Supergate Easy Close Metal Gate, Bronze for their home, my wife suggested we get one as well because she really liked how you can walk through those without complete disassembly. After using that gate at my mother-in-law's house, I decided I didn't like the North States Supergate Easy Close Metal Gate, Bronze . The locking mechanism required you had to manually twist it back to lock it. Whether it was set up wrong or if it was an actual defect I'm not sure. But because of that AND the price of $50, I knew it wasn't an option for us. So after looking around for baby gates, I found this one. My main reason for selecting this is because (as of June 2013) it's ranked the #1 best seller for indoor baby gates, as listed here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/pet-supplies/166868011/ . Plus the price point of $22.97 at the time of purchase means that it was really affordable. Before I purchased this gate, I compared dozens of different types and trust me I really read the Amazon reviews. For this particular gate, I took notice of the many 1 to 3 star reviews (many which complained of the fitment to doors). Most of the warnings come from doors that are greater than 33 inches and when I measured my door, mine was exactly 32 inches... so I thought I would be OK. However upon installation, I'm kind of indifferent about it but I'm keeping it because it works. The following are my thoughts about this product. ## DOOR MECHANISM ## Although the door only opens in one direction, I really like how easy it is to open. You really can open this gate with one hand. Your thumb pushes the locking slider out and the rest of your fingers grip and pull up on the handle to open. To lock it (after the gate is closed), you push down on the handle and with enough pressure, it automatically slides the locking slider over the handle. That "click" sound assures you that the door is locked and that there is no way to open without going through the opening routine. ## GATE FITMENT ## The fitment is done by extra long bolts that slide in horizontally into the frames of the gate. As you turn the dials on them, they basically "unscrew" from the frame and go outward. As it goes outward, it will eventually touch the wall/door frame you are trying to secure. By continually turning, you will cause enough pressure where the gate will mount itself and stand upright. However not every door frame/hall are the same width and the bolts are only so long. Meaning they can only extend out so far until they either become too flimsy to hold the gate up OR are not wide enough. That's where the extensions come into play. You get a 6 inch extension with the gate but as with other reviewers mention, it's too wide for most applications. Since my door frame is 32 inches wide (and the gate is around 28 inches), I couldn't use the extension. I'm barely at the threshold of where this gate is too flimsy to be mounted at the door (I had to use the gate anchors) to secure it. ## GATE PRESSURE ## The way this gate is secured to the wall or door frame is by pressure. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, you turn the dials on them to tighten the gate to secure it. However, I have a few issues with this. The bottom part of the gate can be tightened as much as you want. Obviously the tighter you turn the knobs, the more pressure there is between the gate and with that, there is more resistance from movement. I'm not sure how it is with other products of the same type, but for this product, there is NO WAY you can tighten the TOP of the gate tight enough AND MAKE IT SECURE WITHOUT the use of the anchors. Let me explain why. If you look at pictures, the bottom frame of the gate is one piece and extends the entire length of the gate. When the gate is open, you step over that part. Structurally that makes this gate sturdy. However on the TOP PART, there is no such one-piece frame(that's how you walk through the gate). Because of this, as you tighten, you run into the issue that if you tighten too much, it puts pressure on the actual gate door and it won't open. If I've confused you, think about it this way... say you stuck a metal rod between a clamp where the ends of the rod are touching each side of the clamp... effectively turning the clamp's "C" shape into a "D" shape (the rod in this diagram is the straight line of the letter D). That straight line is the door while the ends of the clamp are the gate itself. As the clamp stays loose, removal of that rod (aka, the act of openning the door) is easy to move from the clamp. As you tighten the clamp (to secure the gate between the hall/door frame), the harder it is to remove the metal bar. It gets to the point where if you want it really secure between the door, you won't be able to open the gate because there's so much pressure between the door, the gate, and the wall. So then you have to ask yourself, how tight is good enough? Well, personally I was able to "push" the top part of the gate to where it slid out with relative ease. That in itself can be DISASTROUS, especially if you're buying this for the top of stairs. Now, I know a full grown adult male is considerably stronger than a baby, but still that causes some concern. A baby that can walk or toddler with sufficient strength can walk over and likely push/bang on this gate until it moves. BECAUSE OF THIS, YOU NEED TO USE THE ANCHORS. The anchors (supplied) are actually screwed into the wall and then the ends of the bolts fit into the anchors. By doing this, you prevent any movement of the gate. Because my dogs are pretty strong (and known to push on my other gates), I HAD to use the anchors. If my dog can push a gate down over time, then I can imagine a baby can do the same. ## USAGE W/ DOGS ## As I mentioned, my dogs are both 10 lbs each. One is really skinny/slender and long. I did read a review where someone complained and docked a star because their dog could squeeze through the gate, but that's not the case with my dogs. The spacing of the gate's bars are close enough where they can't go through and I made sure the gate was mounted center between my door frame so that there was no way they could escape on the sides either. All in all, I'm satisfied with this gate enough to where I'm going to keep it. I'm sure that when I do have a child I'll move this over to the stairs and have a better fitment than I do now with my dogs. Overall I give this product 4 stars. The removal of a star is from the "GATE PRESSURE" category, where the fact that you cannot SECURE the gate FIRMLY without the use of the anchors. Hopefully this reviews helps with your purchasing decision.

Works well for keeping cats out of a room
We bought this to keep our cats out of a room where there is a door we like to keep it open most of the time for ventilation. Pros: - Fairly easy to install. Thorough directions provided, albeit in tiny font. - Mostly metal construction. Certainly strong enough for keeping our cats out of rooms. - Latch is fairly easy to use. It ha a spring catch for extra security, but we don't need that. - Pressure mounting. If you have a strong door frames or walls you don't have to mount this permanently. Optional screw-mounted cups (and screws) are provided if you do want a more secure attachment. Cons (If there were half stars I might have trimmed half a star for these.): - I can see their design strategy but the latch design is such that the gate will only open one way. Of course if you need it to swing the other way you can simply install it with the other face that direction, but then the hinge is on the other side. Worth noting: If I am standing in the hallway and want to go into a room with the gate in the doorway, if the gate hinge is on the right, the gate swings into the room. I guess one could take a fine saw and trim the plastic latch on the longer side to the same length as the other side so it could open either direction. The gate would then swing either direction but it would then require that you pay attention to line up the gate with the static catch to ensure the latch is engaged. Fortunately in our main room the door and gate swing in unison. I have another room where I was thinking of using a gate and if I had the gate swing into the room I would have to make sure the actual door was open all the way or else the gate would bump into the door. - The latch (and a few other trim parts) is plastic and would be the most likely part prone to breaking. I wish they had used metal. I guess if the plastic breaks and one was only using this gate for pets, one could improvise a latch with a bungee cord or something. Tips and considerations: - Do pay attention to the instructions. The final adjustment of the uppermost pressure points is critical in making sure the latch closes properly. - For shorter openings you will not need the extension piece provided in the box. - One person could install this, but it's a bit easier with two. - The gate on this model does not close automatically (I guess if you wanted it too you could use a bungee cord or spring). - The latch is a tad confusing at first but easy once you know how it works. There's a spring safety feature (the gray, rubbery part) which holds the latch down. It requires a firm grip to slide it sideways. You can do this with one hand but I found I had to grab it at an inconvenient angle (unless you need it I wouldn't bother using it). Pull this back, then lift up on the freed end of the white plastic latch lever. You'll see the two bars holding the gate in place pull back a bit, freeing from the fixed wall piece, letting the gate swing free in one direction. - If using this in a doorway, check your doorknob height. The 30" tall model was tall enough to deter our cats from jumping over it but low enough that it didn't block the doorknob. - The gap between the bars is 2.5". If you need something with a closer gap you could always attach some netting or hardware cloth with zip ties to the metal bars. - There's a catch at the bottom too, but you have to squat down to engage it. It helps stop the gate from rattling if you have something worrying at the gate. (There's two toggles that swing down. They are a bit stiff.) - If you're concerned about denting drywall with the pressure mounting points, you can buy special cups from other vendors that spread the pressure a bit. Alternatively, simply use thin pieces of wood so the mounting pads have the pressure distributed over a wider area. - There is a bar at the bottom that's about 1.5" tall which could be a trip hazard. All short pressure mounted gates have that, so if you are worried about tripping you will have to buy a gate that has permanent wall mounts instead. - This is designed primarily as a baby gate, though the manufacturers do mention using it for pets too. A few reviewers have mentioned strength issues. It is fine for our purposes to keep cats out of a room but I guess if you had a 110 lb. Italian Mastiff constantly throwing itself against the gate then that's a different thing.

Safety baby gates 29-38.5
The gates are easy to use and easy to put together and set up. Dachshunds can not get through the bars. Very sturdy Quality is great, look good no matter where you put them. They can not knock it down.

Keeping the Beast Safely Contained
This gate was purchase to keep a healthy Basenji contained in a bathroom when we leave the house since he does not like to be in wire crate. While our Basenji is a great dog ( we have 2), we feel its best to crate any dog at times for safety reasons. Some dogs will tolerate a crate better than others. While our male Basenji is OK running free in our home, he does not like a small crate. We also do not want him breaking teeth or hurting himself attempting to get out of a small crate. This is why we chose to put him in a bathroom with a Gate across the doorway where he can see out. Even so he wants out. In the past we have used another brand of gate but it was shorter in height and he could reach the plastic sliding lock with his mouth and he would chew the lock until he broke it to pieces and I would find him meeting me at the door when I came home. Also since since the other gates were only held up by pressure he could throw his body against it hard enough he sometimes could knock it down. This caused me to have to make the pressure super tight in the door jams so he could no longer do this. After going through 2 of those shorter gates I decided to look for a taller gate to get the lock away from his mouth. When I found the Regalo Easy Step Extra Tall Walk Thru Gate I decided to order it and give it a try. It arrived today and actually had good easy to follow instructions. This company also has a phone number where you can contact them and you can order replacement parts if necessary. Here are the things I like about this gate: It is tall all the way across the gate. The gate is easy to install. Depending on which way you mount the gate in the opening the metal tab may be an extra blessing in disguise and design. Pretty smart if you ask me. The lock works simply and easily. The lock can be operated with one hand and has a safety. There were mounting cups that you could screw into the Door Jams that the gate adjusters fit into so the gate does not move or slide out of the opening. Things I did not like about this gate but can live with: The door only swings one way. The parts are not all metal like advertised. I will give you a list of parts below that are plastic. These are the plastic parts: Gate lock and safety lock are plastic Adjustment wheels and feet on adjustment rods are plastic. Cups that screw into the wall to hold the adjustment feet on the rods are plastic. The gate does not open both ways. If you mount this gate in a bathroom door way like I did, keep in mind that if you plan to close the bath room door the handle of door might come in contact with the top of the gate. When I saw that I moved the gate out on the Door Jams slightly before I installed the mounting cups with screws to allow for this. Don't laugh lol but sometimes my Basenji will close the door to the bathroom LOL! All in all this appears to be a well built gate. The only disappointment are the plastic parts but most likely they are a necessary evil. At least they can be replaced if necessary. I understand why the gate only swings one way. There is a metal tab on the bottom of the gate to assist in keeping the gate closed and keep the added pressure of the plastic lock. Depending on which way you mount the gate in the opening the metal tab may be an extra blessing in disguise and design. Pretty smart if you ask me. I think the below is worth repeating: If you mount this gate in a bathroom door way like I did, keep in mind that if you plan to close the bath room door the handle of door might come in contact with the top of the gate. When I saw that I moved the gate out on the Door Jams slightly before I installed the mounting cups with screws to allow for this. Don't laugh LOL! but sometimes my Basenji will close the door to the bathroom LOL!

durable, but not fully toddler-proof
Overall I love the gate. We've had no issues with it staying attached to the wall and it's a nice, neutral aesthetic appearance. It has the regular gate lock, a second gray slide lock on top, and bars on the bottom that you can use as a third reinforcement to lock it. We usually do the top two locks, but if your toddler, child, etc really pulls or pushes on the gate it still occasionally opens despite the double locks. It works as advertised and despite the issue mentioned, it at least slows down or alerts you to your child trying to go down or up the steps. Easily adjusts for various doorframe sizes.

Missing parts and unstable
Unfortunately I received this item incomplete. The extension piece was missing, therefore instead of the described dimension of 92.7 x 2.5 x 91.4 centimeters, the gate I received was only 70cm wide. It was not in original packaging, no manual (fair enough it’s self explanatory) and the missing extension. I was also disappointed to see that it in fact requires to drill wholes for the “mounting cups”. Alternatively if you don’t want to damage your walls you could just use it without but then it’s very wonky and unstable - it would fall by simple opening the gate. Overall the material of the grill itself is good but the closing mechanism is cheap plastic, which looks as if it would break after a few times using. As a result I have returned this item and will continue searching for a better safety gate.

Amazing - exactly what we needed. Even some adults cannot open it hehe

Easy to mount and not flimsy
I like it as it’s pretty solid and it looks nice as it blended in with the place. I use it to prevent my dogs from going into the lift.
