I already had the 300 episode set nd I found this for a pretty low price so i thought, for twice as many I'll buy it and trade my 300 set. There are many good shows on this and all of them are on the 300 episode set. What is frustrating is this. All of these sets are the same and do not have all of the episodes of some shows I want to get. It is hard to find all the episodes of say "The Range Rider" or "Bullafo Bill JR" or "Dusty's Trail." Why dont they just release all of the episodes? It is frustrating to have nearly all. But over all it is a good deal. and a nice box. Review: Great Collection - What a bargain. If you love western television programs and accept the fact that these are less than pristine copies, you will love this set. Attractive case plus a booklet to guide you through the amazing assortment. All of these programs might be considered "bottom-half" of the genre when compared to something like "Gunsmoke," but that is part of the charm. It's popcorn time.

Extensive variety of classic TV westerns...
Initial random check of 10% of the DVDs indicates that recording quality and sound are good (as they existed when first broadcast). Only problem was that the decorative box designed to hold all these DVDs was broken and in pieces when I received it, though I haven't found any damage to the DVDs. It wasn't the carrier's fault, as the outer shipping carton was undamaged. I could not repair the box so I trashed it and ordered a DVD holder online for $16 that will hold all 48 of these DVDs plus 32 more. Still can't beat the price for all of these classic DVDs. HOWEVER, out of the 600 episodes in this collection, I found only 104 that even interested me as an adult viewer. The rest of them may appeal to kids up to maybe age 7, but I was that age when all of these originally appeared on TV and I thought they were too childish for me even then...

Couldn't Be More Happy
This was as good an experience as one could ever hope to find when shopping online, and it all began with the item description. I wanted more detail in the description of the item than I was finding elsewhere, and found it with this seller. The extra time spent in detailing the set was what sold me. Having procrastinated as usual, I didn't get around to ordering this until this past Friday (12/13). I just hoped with the holiday rush in full swing that I'd get it by Christmas. Despite being 700 miles away and it being one of the busiest weekends of the year, I received it Monday morning, less than 72 hours after ordering it. With standard shipping. And great care was taken in preparing this item to ship. I couldn't be more happy than I am - not just with the item itself, but with the entire process beginning to end.

Great variety of westerns.
The box arrived damaged, however, what was inside was wonderful, Over 50 dvd's of tv westerns from a time when the struggle of good and evil was not filled with sex and unspeakable violence. They good growing up entertainment and still enjoyed now growing up.

Great gift for older dads/granddads
I got this as a birthday present for my father and he seemed impressed and excited. Unfortunately a previous purchase of the same item from another seller ended up being a set of discs in sleeves with no box or indication of what was on each disc. I didn't hold that against this order but you may want to allow some extra time for returning and repurchasing in case it happens to you.

Good selection of shows - Box broke - Some discs unlabeled
I bought this item as a gift for my aunt. She is a huge Western buff and this collection offered a number of TV shows that you just don't see anywhere anymore. The 3 stars are for the selection and variety of shows. The first time my aunt opened the wooden "collector" box, it split and broke in multiple places. I was able to glue the box back together and added glue to all the seems (which should have been done at the factory). When I returned the box, she informed me that several (I think 6) of the discs had no labeling or other identifying marks. She used a sharpie to mark the contents. If I had purchased this for myself; I would have returned it. My aunt was willing to deal with the flaws. As far as the quality of the DVD's; it is what you would expect from having been pulled from old TV shows. Some are grainy with fair audio, and some are of very good quality video and audio.

Yee-haw! A great collection for any Western fan. See pics and show list below.
This is a really nice collection, sure to please any Western fans out there! I wanted folks to know what they're getting, so I listed out the shows from the booklet below and snapped pics. So you don't have to be in the dark! The discs are double-sided, so you have to be careful when handling them. And you have to look closely near the center to know which disc/side you're holding. But just use the guide to find the shows you want. There's no way they could have printed all this on the discs. So cut 'em some slack. Here's a list of the different shows included and the number of episodes for each. See pics for details. Enjoy! 26 Men (12 Episodes) Adventures of Champion, The (11 Episodes) Adventures of Jim Bowie, The (20 Episodes) Adventures of Kit Carson, The (30 Episodes) Annie Oakley (48 Episodes) Bat Masterson (2 Episodes) Bonanza (22 Episodes) Brave Eagle (1 Episode) Buffalo Bill Jr. (23 Episodes) Cisco Kid, The (37 Episodes) Cowboy G-Men (29 Episodes) Death Valley Days (3 Episodes) Deputy, The (2 Episodes) Dusty's Trail (17 Episodes) Frontier Doctor (13 Episodes) Fury (4 Episodes) Gabby Hayes Show, The (23 Episodes) Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans (15 Episodes) Hudson's Bay (18 Episodes) Judge Roy Bean (28 Episodes) Lash of the West (1 Episode) Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, The (1 Episode) Lone Ranger, The (17 Episodes) Night Rider, The (1 Episode) Northwest Passage (14 Episodes) Outlaws (2 Episodes) Pistols and Petticoats (6 Episodes) Range Rider, The (27 Episodes) Rango (4 Episodes) Red Ryder (1 Episode) Rifleman, The (3 Episodes) Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Show, The (1 Episode) Roy Rogers Show, The (51 Episodes) Seargant Preston of the Yukon (12 Episodes) Sheriff of Cochise/United States Marshal (21 Episodes) Shotgun Slade (15 Episodes) Sly King (4 Episodes) Stoney Burke (1 Episode) Stories of the Century (39 Episodes) Sugarfoot (1 Episode) Tate (12 Episodes) Tim McCoy Show, The (4 Episodes) Wagon Train (3 Episodes) Wide Country (1 Episode)

WOW!
It will take a very long time to watch all these shows, but I've certainly enjoyed those I've seen so far. Picture and sound quality are a bit variable, but this is only to be expected from older material and it doesn't distract too much from the enjoyment. I'm looking forward to spending several months watching the rest!

Exhaustive Western Set
This set has many discs (40 or so ) and is a great collection of old western TV shows from Roy Rogers to Sky King etc. I found the discs to be quite playable , but the raw material from which it was made is dated. Sometimes it is poorly lit compared to modern standards. Sometimes the sound track is not all it should be compared to modern standards. But if you can get beyond that , through out the modern standard , for this stuff is the historical standard!! I have seen complaints online about the ( wooden ) box it comes in falling apart - I had no problems. A very comprehensive introduction to the genre.
