It's now part of my tool box. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Makes fixing a scored valve seat easy! *by R***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 26, 2014* A bathroom tap began to drip as it was seldom tightened enough, and water between the copper and the washer had scored a channel in the valve seat that needed fixing. I also took the opportunity to convert the tap to a ceramic 1/4-turn mechanism while repairing the valve seat (TapMagician sells internals). Just like the previous washer, the base of a ceramic cartridge needs a good valve seat to seal itself against.After buying this, it took a while for me to pluck up the courage to actually do the job since it's a one-way process and I wanted to be sure there were no tricks I should be aware of. There are plenty of cheerful guides to the process on Youtube that encouraged me to have a go and I eventually got it done. The hardest part may actually be disassembling the tap if it has been left to its own devices for too long and everything is scaled up or it was overtightened in the past, but once the mechanism is out it's a doddle to do the grinding down part. The red collars (or yellow as shown in Amazon's image) have various sized threads that fit various tap types, and the three grinding faces also suit varying sizes of valve seats; with experience or a bit of trial and error you find the right ones and assemble the tool to do the job. I'd worried that the process would be hard to do because I'd need to keep the grinding tool flat to the valve seat, but of course the tool screws into the tap and sorts that out for me! It really is a case of getting the right tools for the job and making it look easy, and this was definitely the right one for me. It's also a damn sight cheaper than a plumber and now, after the abolition of slavery, you're no longer allowed to re-sell plumbers on Ebay anyway. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Magic!
