Really good kit
The kit components are good quality, and the screws etc are well identified in their own bags. The instructions are very clear too, so all in all an enjoyable kit. Like some other reviewers, I would have preferred to use 18650 batteries as they are more common, but I didn't have any problems finding a supplier on eBay. One battery recommendation that I would make is to order flat top batteries which can easily be inserted and removed into the battery holder.

Great Hexapod Kit
Kit is well made and clear instructions that are easy to follow, will take rather a long time to assemble, software all compiles, publishes and runs first time. I would recommend downloading the instructions ahead of time and see what involved and required. Website is good and everything available for download including links to both the integrated development environments for the software. Only frustration was the 144 tiny screws for the servos. I would recommend the kit with the remote control as it make controlling the Hexapod easier than paring a phone or table every time you want the robot and the remote can be reused for other projects from Freenove or others, only tested the mobile app on Android and this also works with other Freenove kits. Took about 8 hours fully assemble and test. Great kit, well made and packaged.

Excellent starter kit with clear instructions
The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Spares included for all fasteners, which is especially handy for the fiddly M2 screws. I had fun building this with my son. I think most older teenagers could successfully complete solo. NOTE do read the 'about battery' pdf before buying... saying from experience! The 2x batteries cost about £9 on top.

A well designed robot kit with definite expansion potential
A well-designed robot kit with definite expansion potential This kit is based around an Arduino Mega-compatible board. It does require a separate purchase of batteries and a charger, I have found the BAK 18650 from nubattery.co.uk to be a good choice and they also sell chargers. The tutorial was easy to follow, but it did take me a few hours to complete the build. The PC app used software called "Processing" which I have not used before but it was easy to set up and worked well. The calibration, a very important step, was easy to carry out, using the PC app. The completed and calibrated robot is very pleasing and is easy to control from a phone or PC. I bought the version with a wireless remote also but I haven't actually tried this yet. The open-source code to control the movement of the robot is supplied. The result is a nice compact robot, but I am also interested in the expansion capabilities. The robot shield gives access to some digital and analogue pins and an i2c interface so it should be possible to add some extras. I hope to add a rotatable head with an led matrix display and an ultrasonic distance finder. Then I can create some code for it to wander about on its own. The assembly involves some quite fiddly screws and the code needs to be uploaded to the robot via the Arduino ide, but everything is clearly explained in the tutorial. I would recommend this kit for someone who initially wants to build a walking hexapod robot, but is also open to the idea of taking things a little further in future. I hope to share details of my upgrades on the “Freenove Robot Owners Group” on Facebook.

14500 IMR batteries are impossible to find
Purchased this a month ago thinking it's a great project while in lockdown. However to even proceed past 1/4 of the way through you need a special type of battery that is no longer available. The size of the battery is another issue. If this kit was supplied with 18650 holders instead of tiny 14500 holders, you will actually have options of batteries to purchase to fk.n run this thing. None the less very disappointed with the time and money spent trying to continue with this project. Don't buy don't waste your time unless you have 14500 IMR batteries(they provide 8a current output, all currently listed batteries on any UK Web sode or ebay provide 1a current output and this cannot power the board at all)

Parts are not acrylic as advertised
The materials received are lasercut from cheap unfinished materials - not as specified in the listening.

A great robotics kit, surpassed my expectations in every way.
Wasn't sure what to expect but was surprised when I opened the box. A very well thought out robotics kit with very clear instructions and good quality components. If you want to start understanding robotics this is a great kit to start out with. Be sure to order the correct batteries (the type of batteries used in high powered torches and vape devices.) I found them on ebay at a very reasonable price as they aren't available on amazon. Great value for money.

Fun but not great
Its a cool design and its well thought out. The software works great out of the box and the tutorial is mostly well put together. Theres one very big flaw: the servo’s are being held by a tiny screw which you cannot tighten fast enough. Once powered on and calibrated - the crab walks two steps and then it descends on its belly. This is caused by the screws being unfastened by the rotation of the servo’s. This makes it unusable which is a big shame. I cannot tighten the screws any tighter. It was fun to put together but after assembly its kinda useless to me due to this problem.

Not worth it
Wouldn’t recommend, the wires broke when putting them together, very delicate wiring Remote control not connecting Motors few came bad they were not moving smoothly As a tech student I can confirm that the gearing was the hardest part. They should include battery and battery charger. The hexapod is still not working smoothly. Wouldn’t recommend at all

Stunning, easy-to-start, affordable robot
This is my first ever programmable robot an I am super satisfied with it. It came in a surprisingly small box with a tidily arranged interior. The assembling itself took good two hours. The manual text is concise with a sufficient supplement of pictures so the process went smooth. Unfirtunately, the remote control was broken, not connecting to PC. After a day on e-mail with suport, they concluded that it is unrecoverable and sent a replacement. Their first response was less than in 3 hours. The remote is much more fun to control the robot than a computer. One should go for it if intends to play with a robot. For programming, the software is well commented and pretty straightforward. I have some experience, so may be biased. The attached video shows actions according to the first self-made script.
