Packed with high-flying action and nonstop laughs, Megamind puts a whole new hilarious twist on the superhero movie. Super villain Megamind's (Will Ferrell) dreams have come true when he conquers the city's protector, Metro Man (Brad Pitt), gaining control of Metro City. However, when a new villain (Jonah Hill) is created and chaos runs rampant, the world's biggest "mind" and his comic sidekick Minion (David Cross) might actually save the day. With an all-star cast including Tina Fey and amazing animation, Megamind "is a smart, funny and original treat" (Michael O'Sullivan, The Washington Post).Bonus Content:Includes a digital copy of Megamind (Subject to expiration. It's cute, funny, and has a great lesson: You are who you choose to be. I can be picky about movies, but I cannot come up with one bag thing to say about this one. Even the music is great. Great for kids, entertaining for adults (and not in the, "Let's slip in an adult joke kids won't notice" way) ***** SPOILERS ***** First character I talked about with my kids: the "hero." Sure, he's saved Metro City countless times, but that doesn't mean he wants to; people just expect him to. He felt so trapped with no one to talk to that he faked his own death. He was popular, but he didn't have any actual friends. Maybe if he had one person to talk to, things would have been different. The female is interesting. She's not the usual "Damsel in distress" type, but neither is she overboard with the "I don't need a man." She seems like a real person, and they subtly point out that the big jock type doesn't do it for her; she wants someone with substance. People assume she's in a relationship with the "hero," but she finds him boring. Hal is a wonderful example of why not everyone has great ability; some people shouldn't, or the power will go to their heads. This is a great thing to talk about with kids. It's easy to say, "Oh, if I had money, I would..." or "If I were a great athlete, I would..." but maybe you don't have those things because you couldn't handle it. It made my oldest take a good look into himself and really think. Finally, Megamind. Megamind is the perfect illustration that you can born into certain circumstances, look a certain way, and be told your whole life one thing, but that doesn't define who you are. You are who you choose to be. Megamind failed at everything he did, trying to fit into the mold other people had cast for him. When he broke out and was his true self, he was amazing, and people loved him for it. Seriously, this movie is not your usual Dreamworks movie. We need more like this. Funnier Than a Speeding Bullet
I don't seem to be making it to the theaters as often as I once did. So that's why I missed Megamind in theaters. But I caught it on DVD this last weekend, and I absolutely loved it. Our story starts on a distant planet that is about to be destroyed. Two parents quickly send their infant son into space, hoping he will survive. But he isn't alone. Another baby from a nearby planet is also on his way to a new home. The two land on Earth, where Metro Man (voiced by Brad Pitt) lands in the home of a rich couple while Megamind (Will Ferrell) lands in a prison. The two grow up and grow into arch nemeses, which Metro Man always winning their battles and reporter Roxanne Ritchie (Tina Fey) getting caught in the middle. Stop me if you've heard this one before. While the previews had looked promising, I figured it was a spoof on Superman. There was certainly that element to the story early on, but things took an unexpected turn about a third of the way into the story. To be honest, I really had no idea where they were going with things for a while, although I did guess the final parts early. So, while I will say that there are predictable elements, I actually thought parts of this movie were pretty original. Of course, even if it were predictable, I would have enjoyed the movie because it was so funny. They manage to mock super heroes and villains pretty well in this film. I watched it with a friend, and we were both dying at some of the jokes. Even his wife, who isn't into super heroes as much, thought it was very funny. Both Metro Man and Megamind are over the top as characters, which only adds to the humor of the piece. Normally, I avoid Will Ferrell films because I just don't find him that funny. This movie proves that, given the right material, he can be great. I got over the fact that he was the main character in just a couple of minutes and sat back and enjoyed the film. It helped that all the actors did a great job of creating new characters with their voices. I usually find it very distracting when I recognize a voice in an animated film unless their character is very strong. Here, not only were the characters strong, but the actors made their voices different enough that I never would have recognized them. The animation is good, but it's nothing spectacular. While Pixar always has a shot or two that catches my breath, this one didn't have any. In fact, things were stylized. Again, it wasn't distracting at all, but if you want something mega realistic or beautiful, you won't find it here. What you will find is a funny movie that will make you laugh from start to finish. If you've missed Megamind, correct that oversight today.

This is one of those movies I could watch over and over again and not get bored of it. When I first saw this movie I watched it with my niece and I was hooked on it.
