Blumat Classic Self-Watering Stakes, 3 Pack, Without Adapter

This watering system is incredible. I left my home to Europe for 3 weeks, put a camera on my plants that couldn’t be moved to friends houses while I was away, and was thrilled to see my plants thriving the entire time with their Blumat cones! I came back to very happy and healthy, perfectly watered plants. I set them up with gallons of distilled water, and they all could have gone even more weeks without me. One is blooming now! My advice is to set the system up a few weeks before leaving to insure all lines are working. If there’s any air bubbles you discover — a plant not taking in water as it should — you can eradicate the air and fix the system before you leave. And adjust the height of your water reservoir as needed for any plant’s optimum watering. Blumat is a total game changer on watering plants while away!

I've used these each time we leave home to travel and all of my plants have been watered appropriately, even though they're different sizes and types of plants. We've been gone weeks at a time and this really works! You have to follow the directions exactly - Water your plants first! This is important. Take the SEPARATED Blumat pieces (both the spike and top with the tubing) and immerse completely in water for 15 minutes , then, making sure the stakes are below water and filled to the top, place the plastic top on the spike underwater so it's a complete unit. Remove the unit from the water, and position it in your pot near the plant, planting the spike in the dirt. I fill a 2500 ml bowl with water and place it near my plants, submersing the tubings to the bottom of the bowl and cover the bowl with plastic wrap to prevent evaporation. It takes 3-4 weeks to empty the bowl (I have a 13 inch pot with a peace lily; a 6 inch pot with an ivy; and a 4 inch pot with an African violet). I tested this out the first time for a week before traveling so I could see how it worked. Hint: If you don't water the plants first, this won't draw water in as well and the plants could dry out while you're gone. So water first, then start the system. I played around with positioning the bowl even with the pots, versus higher or lower than the pots. I found that having the pots and bowl all on the same level worked the best. If the bowl was higher than the pots, it watered them too much, and too little if the bowl was lower than the pots. I recommend trialing this system while you're still around to see what's happening and what you need to adjust. Don't wait to the last minute to test this or give a bad review because you didn't test the system with your plants before leaving. This really works and waters each plant with exactly how much it needs. I've never lost a plant and I haven't been disappointed with the state of my plants when I come home. I do place my plants in a location with indirect sunlight when I'm gone, which keeps down evaporation and maintains a better water level in the bowl. The Blumat website gives specific directions and video information. It's a no-brainer. Great product when used right!

I'm new at home-growing, and therefore I can't give an informed rating on value for money, besides the fact that they were very easy to use and seem to work fine. My homegrown San Marzano tomato and basil plants seem to be growing fine. I hope to enjoy my first harvest in a couple of months.

These were a great purchase. I wasn't sure how to keep my plants alive while on vacation. Did a little research and these sounded like they were just what I needed. My plants both indoor and outdoor were alive when I got home from a 3 week vacation. I did have someone come and check the the container I used to syphon the water from wasn't empty. I would recommend a trial run before you go away to see just how much water is needed. They were real simple to use and kept the plants at the right moisture level. The globes release too much water, these are a steady slow stream. I used the globes on my less favorite plants as these are a little pricey to put in all my pots. But based on how my plants looked when I got home I will plan on buying more of these and not use the globes.

I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I bought these. I was going to be away for three weeks and couldn’t believe my plants would survive without my neighbor coming over to water them. To my surprise, they worked exactly as advertised. When I got home, all of my plants looked healthy and happy. They weren’t overwatered, and they weren’t dried out either—they had just the right amount of water the whole time. For anyone who travels or simply wants one less thing to worry about, I think these are well worth it. They definitely gave me peace of mind, and I’d buy them again.

I’ve had every problem imaginable with these and don’t understand how others have had such success. I’ve had them flood and kill several plants. Once it flooded so much that the reservoir in the pot overflowed onto my shelf and made a huge mess and I don’t know why -when I asked other amazon owners here they said they didn’t even think that was possible. On the flip side they also regularly dry out and it’s super hard to tell that they have dried out. It looks like there is water in the vessel still and you think it’s fine but then you find the cone is empty and it’s not been working for who knows how long. I check them every few days so it’s not like I’m abandoning anything. It’s hard to get the green caps on and off as well since I seem to need to keep refilling the ones that dry out - to replace the cap properly I almost always need to take the whole thing out of the pot - which ends up making a mess of dirt on whatever surface my plant is on. The real reason they are getting 1 star - I contacted customer service on their website asking for help given that I have a lot of them and can’t seem to get them to work. They never replied or offered any suggestions. Not even an AI reply or acknowledgment. I’m going to keep trying them because i already made the investment and because I feel like if other people got them to work I should be able to, but I certainly can’t recommend them to others at this point in time.

The only reason I gave more than 1 star was that I realized much later that I did not set these up correctly. The only instructions provided were a set of 5 vague pictures on the package with no captions or explanation. I only just now found the detailed flow rate instructions in the hidden Amazon product description online, and realized maybe I shouldn't just throw them all away after my failed attempt. I filled the cone piece with water, closed the cap, placed it into the soil, and placed the other end of the tube into a basin of water positioned higher than the level of the plant pot, for each of 6 indoor plants. The next morning, it appeared the water had continuously run through the pots until it seeped out of the bottoms, overloading the drip trays and soaking into my windowsills and carpeting below. I immediately removed everything, cleaned up the mess, and set up the system again using pieces of string instead of these things (one end of the string about an inch deep into the pot, the other end in the basin of water positioned higher than the pot). When I got back from vacation a week later, almost all of my plants were perfectly healthy with just the strings watering them. One of my plants might have benefited from additional water that might have been provided if I had installed the cone things correctly. So for the most part, cheap string works, but I might give these cone things another try for my larger/thirstier plant. Also, one of the cone pieces arrived broken. In a time crunch, I just glued it back together instead of doing a return/replacement. The packaging is a thin cardboard box with an open "window" to view the product inside, and this was delivered inside a bubble envelope, so it was likely crushed during transit.

This little gadget is the best thing that I have got on Amazon this year!!! I travel a lot and have two indoor plants that need consistent watering, and this product solved that problem. I am a VERY satisfied customer and I am certain that my plants are too, and if they could, they would have kissed the Seller! Seller, you don’t deserve five stars, you deserve a hundred stars. Seller, you are the BEST!!

Estoy muy contento con estos conos de riego. Desde que los tengo, mis plantas se mantienen mucho mejor y ya no se me han vuelto a morir por falta de agua, sobre todo cuando paso varios días sin poder estar pendiente de ellas. Los conos son de una especie de cerámica porosa, y este material permite que el agua vaya pasando poco a poco hacia la tierra. El funcionamiento es bastante sencillo y no necesitan electricidad, pilas ni ningún tipo de programación. IMPORTANTE, para utilizarlos correctamente: la primera vez hay que dejar los conos en remojo durante unos 15 minutos, para que empapen bien y queden completamente hidratados. Después hay que llenarlos de agua hasta arriba y colocar la tapa. Una vez hechos estos pasos, el agua empieza a circular de forma automática hacia la planta. Me parece especialmente cómodo porque simplemente colocas el cono en la tierra, conectas el tubo al recipiente donde tengas el agua y puedes despreocuparte bastante del riego. En mi caso ha sido muy útil para mantener las plantas hidratadas de forma constante sin tener que acordarme de regarlas todos los días. Además, vienen 3 unidades, por lo que puedo utilizarlas en varias macetas al mismo tiempo. Recomiendo hacer una pequeña prueba antes de dejar las plantas solas durante varios días, para comprobar que el tubo está bien colocado y que el recipiente tiene suficiente agua. En general, me parece un sistema muy práctico para quienes tendemos a olvidarnos del riego o simplemente queremos mantener las plantas mejor cuidadas sin estar constantemente pendientes. Desde que los estoy usando, noto las plantas mucho más bonitas y saludables y, sobre todo, no he vuelto a tener problemas porque se me olvidase regarlas.

The Blumat Classic Automatic Self Watering Plant Stakes are awesome! They extend the watering intervals for my plants. I have to admit I'm not the best at remembering to water so these are going to work perfect. I see some reviews of people saying these don't work. I believe this is due to not getting the siphon right. I followed the instructions by soaking everything in a bowl of water for about 15 mins. I kept the cap that goes on the top of the stake submerged and drew the water in like you would sucking on a straw. Then put my finger on the other end of the line so I wouldn't loose the siphon. Fill the stake to the top and place the cap on. This would have been easier if I had an extra set of hands to help. Place the end of the line in a glass or jar filled with water and remove your finger. Then place the stake in the soil. I initially raised the glass higher than the pot, which according to the instructions should increase the "flow" of water. I was able to see how much water it was drawing by putting a mark on the glass with a dry erase pen. Depending on the size of plant, this may not replace regular watering. I have a few larger plants that these just cant supply enough water to. But they extend the times in between watering. These are also perfect for when I go on vacation.

Wir waren 3 Wochen im Urlaub und unsere Pflanzen sahen super aus nach der Rückkehr! Nur eine Pflanze, die nicht viel Wasser veträgt war ein wenig schimmelig. Bin aber dennoch total begeistert und muss mit keine Sorgen mehr machen wegen pflanzengießen während dem Urlaub.
