Works Perfectly!
My wife and I were down to 2 choices, the tubular barrier or this Midwest model. The tubular product would not have suited our needs because our dog's head could go through the tubular bars where he could reach seatbelt straps that he would then destroy. So we decided to go with the Midwest barrier. The installation was clear-cut and easy. For about the first week there were no rattles. But by the second week, small rattles would occur on rough roads. This was easily fixed by using small black cable ties where ever grating overlapped the base grate. There have been no rattles since. There was also a small place where the sides of the barrier smacked against the plastic window molding when going over speed bumps. This was easily fixed by using a self-adhesive, small (1/2" diameter) circular felt pad at the point of contact on both window moldings. The barrier now makes no noises what so ever. The only other "issue" that we noticed was that one of the grate clamps was in the way of the rear view visibility. Again, this was easily fixed by moving the clamp to the very top of the grate and using black cable ties where the clamp previously held the grates together. All in all I would highly recommend this product to anyone. You may need to get a few small cable ties, but they work well. Also, this barrier fits perfectly in the back of our 2009 Rav-4.

Not Perfect, But Works Well -- Video Shows Install in Subaru
My video shows how I installed this pet barrier. Vid cuts off a bit at the end, but you get the gist of the install: form up the barrier and screw the rods into place, creating pressure to hold it in place. I actually bought and installed one of these 20 years ago, and the design has not really changed -- only now the connecting brackets are plastic and not metal. A sign of the times, I guess. Adjustable to fit most vehicles with a rear area, like suvs or wagons or crossovers, though you may need to use zip-ties and other little tricks to get it to work. Install is in my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Note that my one CRITIQUE of this divider is that it's never 100% secure top or bottom, because it's only really squished into the space with pressure, not attached. So a clever dog could pull or push it free. In addition, the threaded rods on the bottom will likely leave dents in your floor/base of trunk area. So maybe add something beneath them for protection. But it keeps the dog in back and is simple. While not perfect, I like it a lot!

common sense excellence
This product is well thought out. It fit my Grand Caravan with Stow-amd-Go seats well. With the split seats, I had to also buy the middle lower barrier. The locking system for both is simple and effective and the adjustable height rods equally so. I read the reviews that recounted torn liners and rattling. The torn liners are a mystery to me, but the possibility of metal on metal rattling was solved by imitating the product with extra rubber ( short gas line pieces split lengthwise around wire at potential problem points) held with zip strips. If your pet is super-aggressive and attacking the "wall" there could be a problem, but any pet that is considered anywhere close to normal, ( I have 2 Springers, one docile, one wanting attention while I'm driving) that are held safely and comfortably. There are no heads poking through and larger solid bars to obstruct view in your rearview mirror. I don't plan on removing the barrier often, but aside from the extra zip-strips, it is an easy operation requiring a short amount of time. Very good product.

Great price, works well, but was missing parts
I purchased this for my 2002 Nissan Xterra. It fit in nicely, and I could still use my factory retractable cargo area cover. It was far less than the $160 Nissan charges for its mesh pet divider (the Nissan website says $100, but for my year, it is $160). Installing wasn't super easy, but I got it done. Definitely having a helping hand will make it go by more quickly. It rattles somewhat, but not too bad. I think if I used extra twist-ties or something similar to hold the different pieces together, I could get rid of it completely. A minor issue would be the bolts protruding toward the pet area. I am a little afraid that they could hurt my dogs should I get into a car accident or quick stop. If I turn the bolts around, then they would poke toward the head of anyone sitting in the back seat. My main issue would be the 2 missing parts. I called the number listed on the instructions afterhours and left a message that wasn't returned. I called back a few days later during business hours and got ahold of someone who took my information and said they would send them out. Although I did receive the missing parts, it was quite a while after the phone call. All in all I think its a good product, but there is room for improvement.

Complete junk
Complete junk. Poor design. Difficult to install. Wing nuts were wrong thread size and slipped on threaded post used to pressure fit gate between floor and ceiling. Ended up duct taping nuts in place, hammering a 2x4 under one post, and duct taping gate to headrests to secure it. Plastic caps fall off posts with any movement during installation. Nothing fit correctly. Looks terrible! Most frustrating POS I have ever tried to put together. Have aspirin handy. Buyer beware! **I am amending this review after two weeks. If zero stars was an option, I would give it. Almost daily, because the threaded wing nuts wouldn't tighten, the gate fell out of place. The only thing holding it in place was duct tape -- literally! The slightest jolt in the car from the road or the dog would result in the gate falling over. Eventually I bought two additional child gates and tried to wedge them against this POS to hold it in place -- nope, still fell. Then one of the cheep plastic clamps fell off and one of the metal gate panels just started swinging back and forth. Today I had enough. I ripped it out of the car and wrote off the ten or so hours I have put into this thing trying to rig it up to work as a lesson learned. It is now laying at the end of the driveway. If you want one for free, come and get it. It should be criminal to repeatedly sell something this faulty to unsuspecting buyers. Just look at all the 1 star feedback. Numerous buyers report an eerily similar experience to mine with the same issues in faulty product hardware. Amazon should force the seller to remove this item from sale. Anything short illustrates a complete disregard for its customers.

Fits Ford Excursion barely. Decent Quality
It fit the Ford Excursion height wise without an issue. Width wise there was about a two inch gap on either side of the main barrier (the middle). No big deal since we have big dogs and the side barriers helped. Even without the side barriers the dogs wouldn't be able to squeeze through. It was not that difficult to put together. One reviewer mentioned chucking the hardware that comes with it and go to Home Depot to get new stuff as well and washers for the wing nuts. The big wing nuts that support poles have thick washers. The smaller wing nuts do not have any. You use the small wing nuts to screw together the bracket that holds the pieces of the gate together. We haven't used it much, so I am not sure if they will come loose. I would imagine they could become come loose. Overall quality seems good. I grabbed the gated and tugged at it and tried to move it from side to side. It wouldn't budge. Just make sure you screw on the large wing nuts very tight. The large wing nuts are what adjusts the height. If you don't screw it up as far as possible, the gate will come loose and fall down on the dogs. The quality is what I expect for what I paid for, but it's not industrial grade metal. The gate reminds me of the wire crates in both strength and thickness.

Easy assembly, well made and heavy duty enough for large dogs.
Gives good wire coverage to protect seats from puppy damage. Older dogs no problem. The threaded poles have a wing nut and a compression washer but no regular washer to protect and support the base of the pole it is inserted into. Recommend picking a couple of 5 cent washers before tightening down. I have a large full size SUV and the “wire wings” easily go from side to side without gap. To prevent the all the wing nuts from loosening due to normal call vibration and to cut down on any rattling noise, I placed double sided adhesive foam between the clam shell brackets. Those small additions made this product next to perfect to hold 4 large Shepherds in the back.

2015 Honda CR-V
Ordered this for my new car so that my lab-collie mix wouldn't destroy my light interior during car rides. This dog is a maniac and has licked every surface of the interior of my new car. Licking has to stop. Jumping from backseat to passenger seat to dashboard to lap has to stop. Cue this barrier. Shipping: All parts were included in the box, as well as some wonky but legible assembly directions. Fiancé complained about directions being terrible but when I glanced at them, they seemed good enough in combination with innate engineering sense, which I don't possess but fiancé sometimes does. Assembly: Fiancé installed in vehicle. It took about 45 minutes. I watched from inside the house because it was hot out. I am supportive this way. He installed the grate slightly tilted for some reason. Possibly out of spite. I complained about it but alas, it stays tilted. Durability: Grate seems sturdy. Rods at base that attach to the floor of the trunk are questionably sharp and could be useful for a future lobotomy. Extensions on sides leave only about 2 inches of space for maniac dog to finagle through. Will update review if this happens. Will also alert Guinness Book of World Records. Road noise: Fiancé's innate engineering sense was strong during install. He attached rubber grips from the main grate to each side grate. Apparently this helps with rattling. I awarded him points for cleverness and sass. Drove the vehicle today and the grate didn't so much rattle as it bahh-ed like a sheep. Very muffled. As a responsible driver, I did check my rearview for sheep and somewhat to my dismay, there were none. Our relationship: To be edited later, but overall health and wellness of our coupledom should increase. Maniac dog: Continues to display maniacal behaviors. Will update if this changes. Overall, I rate this as 4 stars. Decent price, easy setup (for the person not installing) and fairly quiet. UPDATE 1 (4/17): Due to circumstances unrelated to this grate, fiancé and I have called off our wedding. Silver lining: I kept maniac dog. UPDATE 2 (12/17): After much contemplation, I decided to sell this grate on the local internet marketplace. Reasoning is due to the complicated-ness of removing the grate to transport large items, and the ensuing reinstall of the grate after said items are transported. A kind civilian answered my ad and we met in a gas station parking lot. I chose a public place in case her motives were ulterior. For several minutes, I fumbled with the grate attempting to demonstrate its usefulness and ease of install. The latter was obviously untrue. Civilian could tell. I finally inquired whether the civilian was married. She replied yes. I informed her that her husband would likely be able to figure out the grate. She immediately paid me my asking price of $15 and I left feeling triumphant. My vehicle interior was completely destroyed a week after the sale of the grate. So there's that. UPDATE 3 (9/18): I spent my summer training maniac dog to drive the CR-V. His urge to be in the driver’s seat is satisfied. I have caught up on nearly every book on my reading list. This is a win-win for the foreseeable future.
