Good quality
The old heat shield wore out in the top of the wood stove and we have replaced it several times in the past. The thickness and quality is perfect for the stove and is working well. It arrived earlier than expected, too.

Excellent
Purchased two years ago for a very reasonable price, I just recently installed this. Product size is as described, high density and good quality ceramic board. For my project, it needed to be cut to fit which was easily done leaving clean edges and corners using only a sharp razor blade. Have not used yet but hope it has a good life span as it is a laminated product.

Great alternative to buying the Raypac specific option
Required cutting to fit my Raypac 266, but this was much cheaper option. Make sure you are very precise with your cuts.

It works
This insulation board works as expected. It can be easily cut with a utility knife but corners and edges can also be easily damaged with normal handling. I tested it on top of a burning stove for 15 minutes and the other side was still cool.

Great product, may have answer to those who have issues.
I rent a cabin that has not been well maintained which extends to the firebox of the fireplace. The back of the firebox seriously looked like someone had taken a sledge hammer to it--cracked firebrick, loose mortar, the works. The sides of the firebox are made of metal, part of an old heat exchanger I'm guessing. I tried to use a Rutland refractory mortar to re-parge the firebox to give a safe, crack-free lining and it worked to some extent but I couldn't fully trust it. So I decided to line the rear of the firebox with this product as a shield over the cracked rear wall. I think of this product like the refractory tiles on the space shuttle--highly resistant to heat but quite fragile. So rather than simply cut it to shape (which is super-easy since the foamy silica cuts like butter) and anchor it in place, I built a metal frame out of angle iron that attaches to the back of my andirons. So two vertical 1.25" angle irons spaced about 12" apart (see photo) that create a frame to hold the silica sheet so it's neither under any pressure nor subject to impact from shifting logs. This way, when I toss a log in, the angle iron, which is resting against the actual back of the firebox with this product kind of sandwiched between the iron and the firebox wall, takes the impact and the silica never gets touched. Sure, if I get overly rambunctious with my poker, I might make a dent in the silica sheet, it's not a big deal. As for those who complain that the product crumbles or falls apart quickly, I wonder if that's an issue with shipping and not the product--if the sheet where to have something heavy placed on it so it flexed and developed internal fractures, it would surely disintegrate under any additional stress. The packaging on mine was well-designed and the sheet arrived unblemished and certainly is holding up well but then I handled it with care, never applied any flexing forces, and it's very well-supported in the firebox.

A good replacement board
It went on fine and keeps heat in. Trimming is easy and it does not come apart easily which aids in positioning.

Garbage Product
This product is complete garbage. It completely fell apart when heated. In to pieces! Literally crumbled. Tried to get a refund & they want me to ship back all the crumbled pieces. What a joke. Do NOT buy product or use this company because there's no solution offered.

Fire place insulation panel
The back wall of a wood burning fire place , was easy to cut to size on a table saw and fit into place . So far it is doing well

hi. I recently bought 3 Ceramic Fiber Insulation Boards for my wooden metal stove in my sauna. The goal is to block direct heat from the stove to the room. The problem is - after the stove gets hot, panels start to give a lot of smoke and kind of poison smell. It is ridiculous. In the video on amazon, where I bought them there is not even a word about smoke and smell. In the video they heat it with a torch flame and the panel gets pure white. if i heat it, the panel gets black first, gives a smoke and only after that gets white. I tried to send the top layer, but the result remained the same. It is an absolutely inappropriate product. I would say it is dangerous for your health. I have return them, but got refund for only ONE board. waiting over a month and no answer and no refund. Terrible seller. i will have to contact my credit card for a charge back.
