Review: Exceptional Quality and Perfect Solution for Sony a6500 Camera 4K-Video Overheating Problems - After purchasing a Sony a6500 mirrorless digital camera, I discovered an inherent problem - the 4K video feature can only be used for about 20 to 30 minutes before the camera shuts down due to heat caused largely by battery discharging. There are many "tricks" used by other a6500 camera owners to try to disperse heat and allow the camera to run for a few minutes longer. The Meike MK-6500 Pro Battery Grip eliminates the problem entirely by removing the battery from the camera, and also doubles the battery life by incorporating two-batteries into the grip without increasing the overall hand-held dimensions. Because the batteries are now located below the camera body, the camera-body height is increased, as is the camera weight, but in many extended 4K video use applications a tripod or mono-pod will be used - so the extra body height and weight isn't a factor.

Its a keeper
Took a long while to get here (three weeks), but the build quality is very good and it works well, as well as the remote. The instructions for the remote are somewhat confusing, but the unit works well. Seems solid , and when screwed in tight, there seems to be no wobble. Yes you will need to plug the controlling cord into the A6500 for the grip's and remote's full functions to work. Not for rain duty as this configuration exposes the mic jack and hdmi port. Or you can simply use the grip for the extra battery capacity, and just use the camera's shutter button alone. No thumbwheels on the grip. But again this is a $68 unit. For the price this is a keeper. Even though you have to remove the grip to access the sd card slot which shares the camera's battery location. Really just a mistake of Sony's design. Until Sony moves the card slot's position this is really the best extra battery design you could have. Update: Sept. 2017; My A6500's usb port stopped working. Repaired under Sony warranty. I suspect having Meike grip's control cord constantly plugged in here, during use and travel ,caused wear to the port. Now I just use the Meike grip for its added battery capacity now, no vertical button or remote control now as A6500 has no internal controls connectivity for a grip. Still worth it for the added battery capacity.

Overall, very nice grip, decent build quality but not perfect
Nice battery grip for my A6500. This product has a very nice rubber grip that matches the feel of the camera. The overall color and texture also matches the a6500. The only cons I have would be that when you are ready to access your photos you have to remove the grip because for some reason Sony thought it would be a good idea to put the SD card in the battery compartment (really Sony?). Not really the fault of the grip. Another thing that would have been nice was if the grip mated electronically to the A6500 so that you didn't have to use the included cable to fire the camera using the grip. (again a design failure by Sony.) I didn't take any stars off for either of these cons because they are really not the fault of the grip. Just wanted readers to know that these small setbacks exists. Overall, very nice grip, decent build quality but not perfect.

I Recommend ! Memory Card and Cable Connectivity - If you are ok with with, Definitely go for it. Much Needed for A6500
For a Camera like Sony A6500 this kind of battery grip is essential. I had a second thought before ordering it. But once after the delivery and installation, this is needed for my A6500. I shoot in 4k for many occasions and the existing Sony Battery 1020 MAH allow me to shoot for 30 mins only. This grip boosted and added EXTRA to my requirements. The color and the material of this battery grip goes well with the A6500 body. Me being a professional on Video shooting, I cannot carry a grey market product. This grip fits well in looks along with A6500. As the A6500 body size is small, this Grip gets you a good hold. The battery arrangement goes like this: Dummy Battery into the A6500. Battery 1 and Battery 2 has to be placed inside the frame of BatteryGrip. Don’t get confused As everyone mentioned, you get the full functionality with that of the remote, the cable has to run through the BatteryGrip and Sony A6500. This is not at all an issue when you are operating the camera in a tripod. You need to be little cautious while operating by holding in hand. This is a catch here. Also, you need to remove the BatteryGrip if you want to remove the Memory Card. That is the engineering part of Sony. Nikon/Cannon models has a dedicated slot for the Memory Cards. Keep in mind that, always you can access the memory card with a cable connected to the camera. I am much impressed with this product, as my requirement is a Battery Boost as I take photos and Videos for long time. Yes, there are few inconvenience of removing the memory card and also the connectivity of cables to attain the full functionality of the remote. It all depends on your needs. I have 128 GB memory card and so I don’t need to remove the memory card often. Also I shoot by placing the camera in a Tripod so the cable connectivity doesn’t mean to be an issue for me. I would recommend this product for a professional person.
