The best cane tip, not bulky when walking. Read review on how to get cane tip to slide on.
Great cane tip! It takes away all the bulkiness from a standard cane tip and I feel so much better using my cane. It feels like I am walking much more natural with it. I will say this, in order to install it on a standard cane, you will need to add some lubricant to the bottom of the cane tip. I added some liquid hand soap to the bottom of my can was able to slide the new Vibram tip on just fine. Once it's on, it will set up and will not come off. With out the soap, it will not slide on and will not fit at all.

Good snug fit, high quality, saved an old walking stick.
Perfect fit on an old German walking stick that had a metal tip, though I did have to cut off the metal tip. This fit perfectly, very snug and added stability for walking. There was enough depth for it to be secure without adding too much height. Good price, quick shipping, glad purchase.

It's small...
Hoped the reviews about it's size were exaggerated, or at least the cap could be stretched out some. No chance. The very sturdy rubber these are made of make that impossible. I cut the end off the cup and epoxied it to the tip of my hiking staff. If it stays on...it should be sufficient. These are for trekking style poles...only.

Excellent durability
The tip that came with my cane was standard, but only lasted about a month before it started wearing down. Not this thing! I've had this tip for nearly 2 months now and it looks the same as when I got it. That doesn't sound like much time, but I don't use my cane as intended (I use it more like a crutch). My hip sort of drops when I walk, so my cane supports much of my weight when walking. That was too much on my other cane tip but it isn't a problem for this one. This thing looks like it's made out of tire rubber! It hasn't marked any flooring yet, though I haven't used it on indoor hardwood. I also grips well, and perfectly fits my 16mm (5/8") cane.

Measure first, then order / suggestion to Vibram
People, read the description before you complain about fitment. Rulers, tape measures, and calipers are legal in all 50 states (can't be sure about Canada though), and it isn't difficult to determine the diameter at the end of your cane. If you have a 7/8" tip on your cane, a 5/8 tip like this one won't fit. If only Vibram would make a cane tip with their Arctic Grip rubber compound, they'd have THE safest cane tip on the planet. If you need a cane, you need to look into their Arctic Grip soles. Snow, wet or dry ice, it doesn't matter; if you "stay over your skis" and don't stride, you will not slip. These soles are the greatest invention since sliced bread... An Arctic Grip cane tip would be a godsend (that's a hint). Until then, this is the best cane tip I've found.

This will never fit any 1 inch diameter cane.
Just by looking at it in person, it will not fit any 1 inch diameter cane. Will fit a 1/2 inch, might be a tight fit on a 3/4 but impossible for a full inch.

It is quite small and simply wouldn't fit on my standard wooden cane
there was only one size listed on the product page so I foolishly assumed it was a 'one size fits all' sort of thing. the picture makes it look like a 2 pound rubber doorstop but the actual diameter of the hole is about the diameter of an AA battery and is quite tiny. it was useless for me though I tried to make it work... in the trash it went. Be very sensitive to size so you don't waste 8 bucks like I did. I wish these seller photos would have a banana for scale...

Buy Vibram and you buy the best.
This product is relatively expensive and worth every penney because it far superior to all alternatives that I have seen or used, noting that I rely upon a cane for mobility all day, every day, and have had little choice but to do so for about 5 years. For safety a good cane tip minimally will give a good grip on the variety of indoor floor and outdoor ground surfaces as routinely encountered across varying weather. The Vibram tip is not perfect in this regard. But even with a full year's usage wear on every surface I find it is as good to substantially better than all alternatves I have tried when new. Several tips I have tried seemed OK when new out of the box, but slipped scarily on tile floors with as little as few days wear. My 1 year old Vibram tip shows visible wear. But I honestly beiieve it still sticks where planted just as well as when new. It seems obvious that this must change with wear eventually. But not yet! For good service and value, a cane tip should last a while. i waited a year to write this review because that is a durability factor that sort of fits my "I am happy" threshold. I am guessing the Vibram tip will last another year before it balds enough to lose grip. For reference , I bought a new Vyve cane several years ago. I like the cane. But the tip it came with fell apart in about 3 months. I thereafter went through a half dozen or more different drug store rubber cane tips. A couple were scary slippery on tile either out of the box or with a few days wear. All showed visible wear in a week at an average cost of probably $3. The longest one lasted was 6 weeks or so. The average durabity was probably a month. The annoyance of constantly replacing tips took me to Amazon willing to pay more for a hopefully better product. I saw the "Vibram" name and recalled that going back at least 50 years I had never been disatisfied with either grip performance or durabilty of Vibram lug soles on hiking, climbing or hunting boots. A year of use convinces me my expectations have been met for cane tips too. The Vibram cane tip is a tight fit. Try lubing with a little liquid dish detergent and, once started, driving the tip fully home by pounding the tip squarely on a concrete floor. A dozen or so good raps should do it.

Had a good pair of hiking boots many years back with Vibram soles and they lasted almost 20 years. I bought this cane tip for my hiking stick and expect it will last many years as well.
