Here goes.THIS IS NOT A PET TRACKER. AND WILL GIVE YOU NO INDICATION ON WHERE TO FIND YOUR PET. Does not track your pet at all but does you. The “features” walking, etc. All track your mobile phone not the collar. The collar does pretty much nothing except let you know your pet is somewhere within a 300 foot range or left it. And then supposedly once you report your pet lost is the purpose of the collar. Per customer service. The “community” is able to step in and will get notified if your pet is near them. Funny, because the app can’t even tell you if your pet is near you when within range.Yes, this is not GPS. I knew that but come one I expected a little more. At least something similar to Tile. Something, hot n cold....process of elimination. Come on something, any that works.The APP - has a Map, section for info about your pet, and a community section (pretty much a pet Facebook) . Your suppose to be connected to people near you. At least that’s what it says when you go to the “add a comment” section. However, people are all over the place...and other countries I also believe. Worst, no way of even knowing where they are located. Even if they comment their pet is missing and asking for help. Basically lots of pics of people showing off their fur babies. Customer service jumps in there every once in a while adding some “did you know” or “here’s some info” comment. Which makes those who have figured out this product doesn’t do what they expected to jump on and reply.A map - green circle of “the range” which is never truly accurate. Would say off range, when my cat was siting next to me or writhing viewing distance. There is no icon/indicator for your pet on the map, no direction, left or right, hot n cold guidance at all. The only icon that ever moves is you. Including a nice arrow indicator to let you know what way your are facing. Really?!Yes, there is a button you can add a “walk” that will be tracked and mapped for you. Except it’s not for your pet...but your phone. There is a “leash” button. Which once activated will make the range a leash for your pet. Once they leave that range, it will trigger an alert to your phone. Only feature I found helpful. That is if it actually worked right. But is inaccurate half the time. Checked a long list of trouble shooting before making that determination.The pet section. You can fill it with all your pets medical info, description and details including pictures.App required that you always have it open, give continuous access to location and permission to photos, notifications etc. To supposably work correctly.So basically. With this device and app needed. I don’t ever know where my cat is. I am told when she is somewhere is 300 foot range or out of it. And customer service will encourage you to have neighbors and family to sign up for app. So you get a larger range map accessible. Which I had my family do....and my map got no bigger. So if their theory is correct then it would give me just a bigger range of over the 300 feet to NOT know where my pet is located really. Like I told customer service in my many communications. My cats bell is a better indicator to help me find her general direction.The device itself fit fine both ways on my medium size cat. I ended up letting it dangle vs flat. Seemed more comfortable for her. I pretty much have left it on because of the customized ID tag. Until I can replace it. She doesn’t seem to mind the size and it doesn’t get in her way. It’s not huge.I have the product 1 star and an additional star for their customer service refunding my money after the complains I had about the product. Most importantly the concern that they advertise this almost deceitful as a tracker without actually doing so. That’s not right. Their response was “we don’t think you understand how to use this. Once your pet is missing. Then the community feature steps in to help you locate your pet.” Really, I have to lose my pet to find my pet?! (My pet is chipped and tagged.) Which I tried by the way. Marking “lost” button. Didn’t find her any quicker than yelling her name out and listening for her bell. I’m getting a Tile on her until I can decide which GPS device is worth the cost.After receiving the refunded and contacting Amazon. They advised me a refund was processed by seller and no need to return product. So I received a glorified name tag for free. That’s why the extra one star. Because the responses by customer service were generic, scripted and completely not direct or useful. Oh they were nice. But I got no where.Completely disappointed in the product. Great idea, poor execution. They could at least add a ping sound like the Tile so it can help with locating pet. How hard is that? The device is plenty big. Same size as a Tile to me. When we go on vacation, our beloved Ella stays with friends (and we exchange the favor). They have the Pawscout app on their phones, so when Ella goes out with them for a walk I can see each day on my phone exactly how far she has gone and where she has been, even if I am half a continent away.The batteries typically last more than 6 months for me. (GPS devices typically cause much more battery drain and would need much more frequent service.)In the case of a dog becoming lost, this device does rely on the networking effect of being near someone with the app on their phone, so the more people who carry the app on their phone, the better the protection for every dog wearing a Pawscout. The app is easy to download from the App Store and can run quietly in the background on your phone. Then if you are near a pet reported as lost, you’ll get an alert. It is that easy to be a community guardian who can help locate lost animals. This can save a pet’s life!The nicely integrated identification tag eliminates the need for one more jingly thing on Ella’s collar, and it is even available in princess pink! I was happy to find *a smart tag* which is so much more than just my phone number. I especially loved the cute colors and included customization. The tag came out perfectly, exactly as I ordered it.The tag itself is easy to set up. I downloaded the app, created an account, pressed a button and held the tag to my phone. Right away I could see the tag on the map. It works via bluetooth which makes sense. If she gets lost my neighbors and other folks on PawScout can help find her with their phones too. I've checked in a couple of times to make sure it's working and so far so good. I also invited my boyfriend to be her 'guardian.' I'm really happy with how it's working. I haven't had a chance to use 'lost' feature, but hopefully I never will!!!I posted a picture of her wearing the tag and I got so many likes and comments. The posts are pretty neat. I love seeing all the pictures of people's dogs and cats. People ask questions and it's definitely become an unexpected favorite part of getting my dog the Pawscout tag.
