This Kindle edition does not include the Translators' Notes. Another Kindle edition is available that includes Translators' Notes. This edition of the NASB is the original 1977 version preceding the 1995 update. The NASB has been widely embraced and trusted as a literal word-for-word translation. Instead of telling the reader what to think, the NASB provides a precise translation with which to conduct a personal journey through the Word of God. The updated NASB is also available for the desertcart Kindle. Review: I LOVE this Book-- I love THIS edition. - I have several lovely Bibles but I wanted THIS EDITION on my iPad. I went to desertcart and five minutes later-- I was reading it on my iPad. WiFi is everywhere--so you can slip it into your purse and enjoy it at church. Its easier than carrying a large Bible. I especially love Psalms 26. At my husband's recent passing-- that was the last passage I read to him-- his affirmation of who he was and where he was going. He was 92-- a successful gentle giant in the field of agriculture. He had spent his entire lifetime as a grower-- and he just let the fast paced tech world pass him by except he stayed abreast with advancements as related to his office and farming equipment. Then one day we were talking about a book- I walked over to the computer and pulled up desertcart and ordered the book. Picked up my Kindle and almost immediately-- I showed him what we had been talking about. He was mesmerized! He would read-- smile and hand the Kindle to me to 'turn the page.' That was more awesome to him than a $225,000. piece of farm equipment that could till a dozen rows of produce at a time. He couldn't believe it! If you don't have a KINDLE or iPAD-- don't put off buying one! desertcart can get it to you almost over-night. AND-- your books immediately!!! Review: The Modernized 1977 Edition of the NASB - This is a very good modification of the 1977 edition of the New American Standard Bible (NASB). The NASB has long been a solid Bible translation and many scholars (including this disciple) believe the NASB to be the most literal Bible version in English. While I read mainly now from the ESV, the NASB has been a version I have loved for many years and used while in college. This Kindle edition features the 1977 NASB (the other update was 1995) but is modernized taking out the archaic language (Thee, Thou, etc. that the 1977 said was "prayer language"). I have greatly enjoyed this edition of the NASB on my Kindle and have used it much. It is easy to use, easy to read, trustworthy as a translation, and easy to navigate.

The Modernized 1977 Edition of the NASB

no question, the best translation out there.
No question, the best translation out there. I've read many different translations and, while I am neither Biblical nor Greek/Hebrew scholar to be sure, I've heard multiple highly intelligent and well rounded pastors and scholars who all consider this translation to be, if not THE best, certainly one of the top 2 or 3. While certain nuances of Biblical text can be ferreted out with other translations and paraphrases, this NASB has always been regarded as the best word-for-word translation out there. For those who want a true "study" bible, this is the translation. The Holmes, ASV, NIV, and a couple others are not at all bad from a "thought-for-thought" perspective, but this one, the NASB (perhaps also the Amplfied version), should be considered as a go-to for thorough understanding of what the original text stated when the reader is like me, a general bible student, seeking God in His Word, without direct knowledge of Greek or Hebrew. Of course, when a broader understanding is needed, seek out several translations to help in understanding the full scope of God's voice spoken to His creation, but when a word-for-word study is needed, and when the student is wondering whether a particular paraphrase or lesson is correct, this translation is essential food for the soul.

Convenient & easy to use
I prefer using my 30-year old Bible, but this tablet version is helpful, while I recover from cervical spinal surgery & have limited downward gaze. Itโs exactly what I wanted & is easy to use. Much lighter weight than carrying my heavy Bible to church, at this time.

Nice.
I've been reading the NASB since 1972, when the full bible translation was completed by Lockman Foundation; the NT was done by 1963, the old in 1972. It is my primary reading bible. I reference KJV, Geneva, and others, but this is my primary reference and quoted version. It is an transliteration, not a translation cum interpretation (like the horrible NIV). That means that they simply translate from original language into English, and then allow the Holy Spirit to do his work. The only tweak they make is to put the word order into contemporary English flow and add articles (the, is, a, and) to smooth flow out. That's it. No interpreting what the writers might have meant or intended. Just straight translation, the way it should be.

Good basic kindle version
I appreciate the notes revealing the words that have been changed in this updated version of the NASB. The only negative I find is that the ability to move about freely between books and chapters is somewhat cumbersome. It is do-able, but not easy on occasion.

My favorite version.
Old dogs like their bones. I'm a missionary with the SBC, and have the privilege of speaking a lot both here and abroad. I use this to preach with English-speaking audiences, and I often have people come up to me afterwards wondering what version I used in the pulpit. They like it. I prefer it to the 1995 edition, which began leaving out words (like conjunctions at the beginning of sentences) for stylistic reasons. Because of my personal belief in plenary verbal inspiration, and that those conjunctions were just as inspired as the rest of the text, and that they have their purpose in communicating continuity in the narrative, I appreciate the faithfulness of the NASB 77. The updating of archaic pronouns and verb conjugations is an improvement over the original NASB 77.

Easy to use eBook version of the NASB
This version worked well on my iPhone 6 and now on my iPhone 10 using the Kindle software. Easy to highlight passages and make notes. Much easier than taking my print Bible to church.

I would have prefered book name and chapter (and verse) rather than location numbers (which are not useful at all)
I wrongly assumed there would be a system of cross references (like that in a print book form) which I wanted. I would have prefered book name and chapter (and verse) rather than location numbers (which are not useful at all). I am pleased to not have the Thees, Thous, etc.

NASB 1977 WITHOUT TRANSLATORS FOR KINDLE
This kindle version is very good with easy searching. I would recommend the NASB for a first time reader of the bible, and for those who find the King James Version difficult to read. Better than the NIV which I also have.
