Great little skillet!
I recently went on a cast iron binge, to replace all of my aging non-stick teflon pots and pans. Bought a bunch of Lodge cast iron, including this Lodge Logic 5 inch mini skillet. I wanted something that I could melt butter in on the stove, or cook a single egg in, and use for other really tiny jobs. I looked at the 14 oz melting pot, but based on feedback, it didn't sound like it would sit very well on my electric stove. [...] So, I opted for this, along with the 5 inch lid. It's great. I've used it to melt butter for making pancakes, etc., rather than nuking it in the microwave. It works great for cooking a single egg. Note: if you haven't mastered flipping an egg without a spatula, restaurant-style, you might hate trying to fry an egg in it. It might be be nigh unto impossible to get a spatula under the egg. These would also be great as individual serving "dishes". I am planning to buy a couple more for that purpose. I am also going to take this camping with me in a week. It's perfect for those little oddball things. It would make a great spoon rest, too. But note....it is REALLY small. I believe someone else pointed out that the 5 inches is the measurement across the top. It is about 3.25 to 3.5 across the bottom. It's smaller than you think. If you need to cook two eggs, or want to fry a single hamburger, you want something larger. Did I mention that it is VERY cute? It would make a cool decorative item for a cabin or rustic/country kitchen. I am quite entertained by it. :)

Mini skillet pies!
I am excited this morning to give mini skillet pies a try! Roast garlic, cook an egg or two, meal for one, yeah, yeah... Great ideas but we are going to use our two 5" and our 3.5" skillets to make mini pies and whatever doesn't fit will go in muffin tins but not be nearly as cute or maybe we will do a bigger size skillet pie and adjust the cook times for each. Can't wait as my kids will love helping in the kitchen with their kid sized skillets and everybody loves pie! Tiny artisan bread loafs, can't you just see it... We use our drop biscuit pan for individual upside down cakes, same idea. Oh, that is what we can make the rest of our pies in... I do like to use my cake frosting spatula with these little skillets. They work well and honestly, I never used it for frosting so now I finally have a use for those too. Love the same lodge quality I have come to expect. Season in a foil lined oven with oil rubbed on the skillet and turn the skillet upside down to season evenly. If you got a discoloration from a glue mark, don't sweat it as they fade and it is harmless. Season the pan and chances are it will be gone. Great product. Get the kids away from the electronics and teach them some life skills, buy this skillet and the lid and although those little hot handle things are too big get one and adjust it or make one for the handle. Don't forget the country kettle in the pint size as it matches the lid too. Great for dips or warm the kettles up to keep soups hot after serving, or just have a St.Patricks Day pot of gold coins. French onion soup, need I say more. Have fun! I am in mini love with lodge. Use your imagination. Chicken pot pie, here we come.... And maybe pumpkin later...

Cute one Egg Skillet
Cute. But very small. Perfect after seasoning after each use . Extra weight would be acceptable for AT overnight camping. Get the metal cleaning chainmale scrubber, or use stream sand and hand wash. Then, re-season after each use. 1 part bees wax with 3 parts grape seed oil. One Egg cutie. Great BBQ or Super Bowl gifts for close friends.

Lodge quality
Didnโt realize just how small it would be. Compared to the 6 inch version. Who I bought it for and who uses it loves it for single eggs for breakfast sandwiches. It gets almost daily use. It has seasoned up well and is basically non-stick. So itโs a ๐ purchase. Itโs cast iron and it WILL rust. So donโt let it soak in water. Or put it in the dishwasher.

~ LODGE LOGIC THE BEST CAST IRON ~
I love Lodge Logic Cast Iron, It is so Nicely Made in The USA so Polish and Smooth, none of that Grittiness and feel of Sandpaper found in other Brands. Lodge Cookware is so Excellent and so well Seasoned ready to Cook when I get them, I don't have to Sand it or Seasoned it and do any extra work, it's ready for me to use, just start Cooking. Lodge is the only Brand I use for Cooking Purposes, because it is American Made and Safe for me to Cook with. I've got many Lodge Cast Iron Skillets and Pots in all Sizes and Shapes so I have to get this one as well, I ordered two of them for Dessert Presentations as they do at the Show "The Chew" This small Skillet it is very well made and measures Exactly 5 Inches across. I also got the nice lid made for this size Skillets. I Support and Welcome Lodge Cast Iron Cookware and Bakeware, they are Beautiful Pieces very Solid Made and Strong and with a little taking care of, they can Last Forever. I order the Tiny Skillets one day and two days later arrived at my Doorstep without any problems. Super Fast Shipping! ...Thank You D.D.

Two make an english muffin sandwich maker
Fry egg in one, then flip it into another pre-heated with half an english muffin in it, top it with cheese slice and other half of muffin, then put the first hot pan on top of the muffin sandwich (making a pan sandwich) and let the cheese melt. There is likely a better way, but that is how I make mine. Lodge is absolutely the best pan in which to cook. Season it, take care of it, and it will provide years of loyal non-stick cooking for you. And it will outlive you. In case you have never used cast iron, learn how to season and clean it, know the handles get very hot, and the pans are heavy for their size (cast iron).

too small - decoration only
5" is the measurement at the top of the skillet. It is too small for actual use. I thought the bottom of the skillet (the frying area) would be 5". The frying area is only 3.5". I guess you could fry one egg, but you couldn't get a spatula in it to turn the egg. You'd just have to dump it on a plate. This is actually just a decoration. Hang it in the kitchen for a conversation piece, or to keep handy if the husband annoys you. It might get your point across without doing too much damage.

Good to fry one egg
I had one application for a small fry pan and that is to fry a single egg. I purchased two, the "T-fal Specialty Nonstick One Egg Wonder Pan" and the "Lodge Logic L5MS3 Mini Skillet, 5-inch". They are very close in size and both are about the optimum size to fry one egg. As an experiment, I tried them with no coating on the bottom, with olive oil and with Pam. The results - The cast iron Lodge Logic was a mess with no coating (as expected), worked fine with an adequate coating of Pam and also well with a copious amount of olive oil but will stick if not enough oil is applied. The T-fal pan worked but with some sticking with no coating. No problem with even a small amount of Pam. Also works well with a slight amount of olive oil. My preferred method after experimentation is to use the T-fal pan with a couple of drops of oil spread on the bottom of the pan with a small piece of paper towel. A regular spatula is too big to use on these fry pans. I found three that work - "OXO Good Grips Brownie Spatula", "Jo!e Lil Flip Nylon Egg Spatula" and an item labeled "small spatula" at my local drug store. I believe that the best is the Jole Lil Flip. The lid sold for the cast iron skillet "Lodge Logic L5MIC3 Miniature Lid" will also fit the T-fal skillet. Although the T-fal is easier to use the cast iron has advantages - you do not need to worry about ingesting the Teflon coating with the cast iron. Also the cast iron will last for a hundred years but the teflon for maybe a hundred uses or until accidentally left on a hot stove too long.

Small but amazing.
I bought a couple of these so I could make individual desserts, and meals. It is 5 inches, so keep that in mind, so it is small... but it is adorable, and works wonders. I like making a mini fritatta, omelette, or quiche, or desserts like cookies, or brownies. I wish it was a wee bit bigger (6-6.5 inches) but I mean, they tell you it's 5 inches so it's no surprise what you get.

All cookware should be like this
We try to buy cast iron or glass cookware because we believe they are healthier and more durable than modern versions. This little skillet is great for the single fried egg, small pie etc. In fact, it is just a perfect size if you just want a small portion. Very versatile and we make a lot of use of it.

Puzzled but happy
Bought this to fry a single egg on an induction hob. I managed to over cook the first couple until I found eggs cook vigorously at only 80 C which makes no sense to me but I love it
