Another tour de force for this new author.
It is rare that a sequel lives up to the promise of the initial novel as this book does. It introduces new and captivating characters that are realistic and intriguing. The author's descriptions of people, their emotions and even their surrounding's is explicit and draws the reader into their experiences. The reader is left wishing there was more of the book to read. It was a very gratifying book to read and I highly recommend it. I would read the prequel The Girls from See Saw Lane first to derive the greatest meaning from the book. This new author is highly talented and I eagerly await more of her books. I felt that the characters became like friends and I was sad to leave them when I finished the book. This is a very enjoyable book that can be read very quickly. However, if you do, beware that you too will miss the characters when you are done!

Brilliant!!
I read the trilogy before I gave my review. I don't want to say anything re the stories and spoil it for anyone else. But read you must. I have laughed, cried and all manner of emotions going through me. Fantastic story telling at it's best.I always read before I go to sleep. One night at the most upsetting part in book 2, I started crying. It was barely controllable, my husband asked me "whatever's the matter". I told him I had just read a really sad part. I had the bed sheet in my mouth. Then there were times I couldn't control my laughing. Every time I read out the passage my husband would end up laughing with me. Absolutely amazing, if I could, I would give it a hundred stars. Please whoever reads this author, Sandy Taylor, you are in for a treat. I am now reading her stand alone books now. Pretty awesome!

Wonderful heartwarming read
l truly love the second book in the trilogy from Sandy Taylor. I had eagerly awaited the book which I read on Kindle but also purchased in paperback. Like the first book it is truly unforgettable and one of the very best books I have ever read. The author has a wonderfully simplistic writing style which is appealing. You immediately warm to the characters depicted in the book as if you personally know them. The author has the rare ability to achieve this making the characters appear just like ordinary people you know or have known. You are drawn into the story from the beginning, exactly the same as with book 1. I could not put it down until I had read the entire book. When nearing the emotional tearful end to the book I was not sure if my tears were due to sadness of the book, or reaching final page. It was possibly a mixture of both. I am now in limbo waiting for publication of the third and final book. As a teenager growing up in Sixties London it was a bonus to find the story moved from Brighton to London. The book has everything, a true down to earth understanding of family life and relationships growing up in the Sixties. The heartbreak, love, and family relationships are touched on in a truly sensitive manner making this an easy to read and enjoyable book. My congratulations and thanks to the author for her truly wonderful novels, I highly recommend this book to other readers, you will love it.

Loved it
This is the second book in a Trilogy of the Brighton girls and I loved it so much as the first. The 2nd book continues the life and loves of Dottie perks, who goes to live in London for a while, working for a trend setting magazine and becoming friends with her flat mate Polly and having a boyfriend Joe. But, one day Dottie's mother get ill as she has to return to her home town of Shorem and then she decides to stay. One day Dottie meets her old ex boyfriend Ralph Bennett and old feelings start to resurface.I love the different characters in this book, especially the ones in Oriental place Rose, Tristan and Stephen. This is such an endearing book. It sometimes made you happy and fuzzy inside but, it also made you sad when you thought where Dottie life was heading. I loved this book I coudn't put it down.

True to life, evocative, funny and emotional. Thoroughly enjoyed reading all her books.
The three books in this series are simply wonderful. The author certanly manages to capture each era perfectly and each character I can see in my minds eye. They have a feel good factor and are books you can lose yourself in. The stand alone novel of the Runaway Children is another humorous yet heartbreakingly real book that takes you back in time. I am looking forward to reading Sandy's books as they come out. She is an extremely talented writer and has a flair for capturing emotions. So pleased I found these books as they have an ability to make you laugh and cry at the same time.

Excellent writing and greatly enjoyed even by a mere male.
After reading The Girls From See Saw Lane and thoroughly enjoying it I had to read the second book in the trilogy. Needless to say I suppose, I enjoyed this one thoroughly too. It is one of those books that you don't like to put down and yet you want to prolong the enjoyment. I read this book far too quickly and will now have to wait a long time for the final book. I can't fault the author's handling of this simple yet wonderful story of teenage life in the sixties. I lived through those times, a teenager myself at the time, and know that the thoughts and deeds described in these books are very authentic. Such lovely memories of how we were at the time came back to me. Thank you Sandy Taylor for your brilliantly humorous observations. I shouldn't really be reading this type of book, being a mere male, but hey, we had the same experiences of love and tragedy too. I do hope that we will see more of your work on the bookshelves soon.
