This is the textbook for the University of Vedic Astrology (UVA) & and overall great beginner's guide to Jyotish. Patry utilizes a Neo-Vedic approach which incorporates the outer planets (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto). There is a simple step by step approach to reading charts, and digs into deeper aspects such as: dashas, yogas, and the charts of prolific characters. A great resource for beginner! 5 stars.

Joni’s first book is a solid overview of all the ways you can use Vedic Astrology. Of course you need to learn from a master in one on one situations but this is a solid primer to go deeper down the rabbit hole.

Great book. I have been passively watching Joni’s and KRS videos on YouTube for the last 7 years but I could never come up with my own chart interpretations until I read this book. I have had wonderful breakthroughs in interpreting charts. I first bought Joni’s book on kindle because I was a struggling student trying to save but later I splurged and bought this book because I wanted it for a reference. Worth the money and I expect to use it for years to come. I’m not paid by Joni but I love her because she’s so good at what she does!

I'm a soul astrologer based on western systems, I had curiosity for Vedic so I found the work of Patry through youtube videos and I am very grateful for this work of a true knowledgeable master. The first part of the book is impeccable, it really clarified the system, so I recommend widely this book. The only thing that I would suggest to the author is that in the second part of the book I really got a little lost, you start developing subjects that are unknown to the western world and you don't clarify them sept by step like the divisional chart etc. The most valuable information on this from my perspective is the planetary cycles so you should write a book just on that matter. But if you want to have an idea about vedic astrology this is an objective, knowledgeable, and indispensable book, made very practical, so thank you again for this amazing contribution. I recommend this widely.

It was a great pleasure to read this book, because the information is systemized and concepts are explained in a very understandable way. This book can be understood even by people who have never read anything about astrology. I learned a lot through this book about vedic astrology especially about Ashtakavarga. It opened my mind for new prediction techniques. It was enjoyable to read how Joni Patry is applying those techniques to analize the charts of famous people. Using the examples I was trying to apply same techniques to my own chart. Thank you very much for the wonderful book, Joni!

Great workbook filled with consolidated information on Vedic astrology!I’m also using this as a reference guide to help me read/sort through Brihat Parasara Hora Satra more easily.Definitely recommend this book!
