Works well for Dexter Russell Knife 24303
Works well for a vegetable slicer with a thin blade that is 5.5" long. (Dexter Russell Scalloped Utility Slicer 24303)Attaches and detaches easily to a belt with a metal tip. Tip of blade sticks out 1/8 when centered exactly. A little tape works well for that.I am an insulator and this works well when you want to put it in a front or rear pocket. A little bulky for a pouch but works.

Holds up
Even though its designed for knives, Got it for the putty knife I use for other purposes. Keeps from ripping my pockets with the sharp sides of putty knife and holds it in place rather well

Doubles as Sheath for Mercer Culinary Shears
I am very proud of my Mercer cutlery, and didn't want to use an off brand's inferior sheath for my amazing kitchen shears. Since it seems Mercer doesn't make a sheath specifically for the shears, I had to get a bit creative. Luckily this sheath is a perfect fit and a welcome flourish to my cutlery collection.

Split leather coated w/ vinyl not full grain leather
I am using this sheath for a 6 inch Dexter butcher knife, which seems to fit. The blade is wide on the knife and felt like it could possibly cut through the side stitching while forcing it in at first. I used mink oil to condition and loosen up the leather. After a few minutes it seemed to hold nicely with a good amount of tension . The back of the sheath absorbed the mink oil but the front did not. The front is made of vinyl or plastic made to look like leather. I got this Mercer sheath because it was cheaper than the USA made Dexter produce knife sheath. The Dexter produce knife sheath fluctuates in price (from $12-$17) so much that it made me buy the Mercer. Overall it’s not a bad sheath. It has a synthetic feel to it but I’m sure it will handle a kitchen or outdoor environment well. This is basically a lefty sheath based on the angle of the leather pocket the knife goes into. This sheath will fit any knife 1.5 inches wide and 6 inches or smaller. I left 3 stars because it is advertised as being leather when it’s actually split leather with a vinyl layer on top. Made in China. Update: The Dexter produce knife sheath has exactly the same measurements but made from full grain leather. It’s made in America and doesn't have the vinyl coating. The Dexter sheath does fluctuates in price, so I would wait until it’s under $14 to purchase.

Cheaply Made.
Bought this product close to a year ago and Finally used it yesterday. Within the few hours of using to store my produce knife the casing detached. I don’t if I would recommend it.. seemed tough and dependable for the everyday use but I’m still hesitating if I want to invest time fixing it or just toss it in the recycling bin.

Sheath could use some attention and strengthening in manufacturing.
The brads or rivets, either way, are poor quality and break apart quickly.
