The Art of Disney Costuming: Heroes, Villains, and Spaces Between (Disney Editions Deluxe)

While I added this lovely title to my Disneyland library simply because it's cover perked my interest, I am happy I did. First, the presentation of the project was done with style and flair! This project at least in my mind, is completely worthy of a volume featuring fantasy couture. From coffee-table sized, replete with beautiful end-papers and fonts, most are accompanied by simply stunning photographs. Never in a million years would I have believed I would have...in one sitting read a book such as this in two hours! And found it truly a fantastic read...even for a guy! The most interesting and meaningful insight I have is to convey the many times that I immediately recognized the costumers talents. By material, buttons and snaps alone, on stylized mannequins the actors faces and bodies we're "seen" as clearly as if they we're wearing them! Now that is some talented seamstress-try (is that a word?) Like I said...."for a guy" NOTE: A couple of reviews deducted stars due to the condition of the cover. May I say it is a VERY thick stock used and that fact coupled with the size of the volume and the use of an automated loader makes it difficult to place tightly. If you just remove the cover nad carefully use a paper folder/bone and press the creases to a sharp crease before replacing it on the book you will see that it will lay perfectly and snuggly on top and bottom and rectify the issues...enjoy! A fine addition.

I got this book as a gift for my daughter who every year makes a Disney villian costume for Halloween. This is a cool book about both the hero and villian costumes. I wish it talked more about the animated costume designs, it really only talks about the live-action costume designs. Great pictures and great close-ups on the details of the outfits!

This book shows Disney costumes from a variety of Disney movies and tv shows. It is filled with full page photos and pictures of details which you could never see on screen. It is far from comprehensive - that would require many, many volumes to cover. They show various versions of Cinderella's iconic blue dress from different live action shows and costumes from Hocus Pocus, Prince of Persia, Sorcerer's Apprentice, others - not just the big films. I hope they make a volume 2. I would love to see more photos of the amazing work Disney designers create for our viewing pleasure.

Gorgeous book filled with original concept sketches, movie stills, actual costumes and more! It has a wide range from the first costumes used in the early Disney movies and even team member costumes to current movies like live action Aladdin and Mary Poppins. This is a wonderful book filled with the rich history of costumes that have made Disney characters come to life on screen. A must read!

This book is gorgeous and looks great on my coffee table. It is organized strangely with the prologue coming before the table of contents and countless pages dedicated to index. Regardless, I bought the book to look beautiful on my coffee table and it serves its purpose well. I will note, my book came dirty and just thrown in a box. Like other reviewers, I’m pretty disappointed with the handling of books bought on Amazon but that shouldn’t take a star away from the book itself. It should take a star away from Amazon’s packaging standards!

The book inside is gorgeous. Has many detailed photos of the outfits. Amazon shipped this in a big box with some padding but the dust jacket of the book was dirty and bent on the sides from being rattled around during shipping.

This book for my 22 year old niece and recent college grad/community theater wardrobe expert; was the perfect Christmas present because it included the best of her favorite interests. Disney and Costumes. She loves browsing through the pages for inspiration and reading about the history behind each costume.

I have been teaching my students about costuming in the theatre classes. Getting to use this book as reference has been a great help. It's detailed, it's colorful, it's awesome.

Ich habe sehr mit mir gerungen, was ich von diesem Buch halte: Einerseits tolle Hochglanz-Bilder, auf denen sich - mit hinreichend Vorwissen im Bereich Schneidern und Lederbearbeitung - einiges an Details erahnen lässt. Andererseits leider nahezu keine hilfreichen Informationen über irgendetwas zur Herstellung (Schnittmuster, Materialien, Mengen, Verzierungs-, Färbetechniken,...) oder wenigstens zum generellen Entstehungsprozess. Zwar wird erwähnt, dass es moodboards und kulturelle/ historische Recherche gab, doch leider gibt es weder Bilder noch Text dazu. Stattdessen wird eher weitschweifig zusammengefasst, welche Rolle die Charaktere in den Geschichten spielen und man bekommt die Vita von diversen Kostümdesigner/-innen präsentiert. Auch die Auswahl der Kostüme wirkt etwas wahllos, es gibt lediglich eine Unterteilung in Helden, Bösewichte u.ä. und häufig werden die Hauptcharaktere dargestellt, aber z.B. im Direktvergleich mit dem Kostümbuch "Game of Thrones: The Costumes, the official book from Season 1 to Season 8" bleibt es sehr doch bei sehr unsystematischen Stichproben. Insgesamt daher leider nicht dass, was ich mir gewünscht hätte.

El libro es grande, tiene ilustraciones bellísimas y vale mucho la pena

Increíble libro disney, lo recomiendo un montón, las ilustraciones inéditas son espectaculares. Lo use para un regalo y es fantástico.
