This is actually a really nice alternative to the more expensive options

This is a nicely built product. The markings are Laser etched, not printed. The aluminum is fairly thick--thick enough--and serves well for its purpose. The markings are accurate as far as I can tell. I don't have a caliper or any fine measuring tools but a comparison to a good, proven accurate Stainless Steel ruler I've had for a long time shows the accuracy on this string action gauge as right-on. I like that the body is black and the markings silver because they are easy to read. I don't regret buying this item--it's a very good value.

Quality and accurate tool!

Pros:- Black tool with silver markings allows you to easily to distinguish the strings from the tool. I've not seen this feature on any other gauge.- Gradients seem to be dead-on, and the conversion chart is a nice plus.- Rounded corners: I wouldn't buy a tool of this kind without them. Sharp corners make it too easy to damage fret boards, strings, and your fingers!- Ability to use short or long ends for similar types of measurements, no problems getting into tight places.- Extremely thin and lightweight, yet surprisingly rigid and sturdy.Cons:- The storage bag won't last long, it's even thinner than the bag the product is delivered in. No biggie there, I just slid it into a little credit card sheath I had laying around.Summary:There's no way you can go wrong with this product, especially for the money. I'm totally delighted with the purchase, highly recommended, and 5 stars all the way!* Note: I strive to write concise reviews with honest opinions to assist you as a potential buyer, and receive no monetary compensation for doing so. A good tool for guitar setup

It can be difficult to properly set neck relief, string height, pickup height, and bridge height on a guitar. This tool makes it a lot easier and is a time saver. The gauge is well marked and easy to read... as long as you have good light. In fact, that is my only quibble with the gauge... it is a bit difficult to distinguish the white on black markings when measuring hundreths of an inch since the shadow of the string makes it somewhat difficult to see clearly. This is easily corrected with a bright light, but it can be difficult to position a light in just the right location when both hands are busy holding the guitar and strings in position. With that said, I would recommend this product.

Worked well.

Used it to get rid of excess string vibration by adjusting the neck.

Good quality product

I really like that this gauge has laser etched hash marks, numbers & lettering. It is mush less expensive than some of the other string height gauges. There is one thing that would make it an even better gauge, in my opinion. Remove the thousandths scale, and replace it with a 64th in. scale. I believe I can say with some certainty, that most american guitar & bass players setup their string height using the 64th. in. scale and not the thousandth scale. I made this suggestion to Siren, and they said it is something they would consider. Even though this gauge has a 64th in scale included, it is small and difficult to read without a magnifying glass. I am still giving the current configuration 5 stars, and recommend it to anyone who needs a quality string height gauge.

High contrast

It's easy to use and read with the high contrast from the black background when looking at light strings. The edges are straight and smooth so you get good readings.

Siren String Action Gauge - Five Stars!

I use the Siren to set-up guitars for my friends and my own electric and acoustic guitars. Very easy to measure and sight string height with the silver against the black background. I also love the smooth edges and rounded corners. Quality product at a reasonable price. I will recommend to all my friends. Very happy with my purchase!

Nicely made, easy toBl read

I have several of these in a natural stainless finish but the black finish on your is very easy to read, even when the lighting is less than ideal. All edges are smooth and overall the finish is extremely well done.

Great product

I find this much easier to read than the silver versions from other companies. Well worth the money spent.

Versitile

Very easy to read. I also used my gauge to check the depths of the slots in my fret board before installing new frets. It worked quite well for that purpose too. Small enough to store anywhere.

crisp numerics and easy to read

I have several of these string action gauges but they are black on silver and not always easy to read, especially on the middle and bottom strings . White on black make a big difference and I can read my measurements much easier and more accurately. Seller followed up on my purchase. Nice touch. I recommend this product from this seller.

Really like it ! But....

Wasn't sure how this would be like as never seen a black with white marker gauge like this before. Always used the plain old metal ones. Once I tried it, found it much easier to see and measure. Having contract to the strings . Big thumbs up for that. However there is a negative. Quality control was a bit lax, one one side the white measuring lines are slightly off, blurred. Luckily don't use that side, so there's no issue.Bottom line, I truly like the easy readying black background and white lines. Can't in good conscience rate it five stars with the very slightly off blurred lines on the one side. Hopefully it's a one off error. You decide if it's worth a shot. If you get a good one , you'll love it.

Good value

It takes time to get used to the small hash marks, but overall a good product and serves its purpose.
