Does a nice (accurate) job for a good price
Overall, the unit is a great value (features to price). The barometer has tracked perfectly with a nearby airport since I bought it. The wind speed (when compared to a more expensive device) tracked perfectly (and with shocking precision). Users need to understand that you can't walk from indoors to outdoors and get an immediate accurate outdoor temp. You need to let the unit acclimate to the new environment for precise readings - but again, the device tracked accurately with other gear. I've done limited testing on the dew point, but the few samples were all accurate. I don't believe I fully understand the ALT (presumed altitude) capability - so it is the only aspect I dislike (the manual is useless on this point). It came with a neat little carrying case (unexpected). Overall - I think this is a good deal!

Nice product, lousy documentation
I bought this to use while sailing, both for wind speed and barometer readings for weather forecasting. It does both those tasks well enough. However, it comes with about the poorest user's manual I've ever seen. The one feature that most interests me is the ability to record barometer trends, but the manual only mentions it without explaining how it works. Useless! In the specifications section, there is a table of altitude vs. pressure, but without any indication of the units that are used. (They are meters and millibars.) It would also be nice to have some idea how long a set of batteries will last. The manufacturer should spend a few bucks and get someone who has something more than a Sesame Street grasp of the English language to write the manual. Aside from the documentation issue, I like the product and would recommend it. UPDATE: I ran some checks on this unit and found the following: The battery indicator is misleading. Using the supplied batteries (carbon-zinc, not alkaline - throw them away!), the battery indicator showed zero bars (discharged) after about 10 hours, but the unit continued to run (it does NOT shut itself off automatically) for nearly three more days. During that period, I periodically copied the stored barometer settings into an Excel spreadsheet and plotted the results. Contrary to what is said in the manual, the unit records the barometric pressure HOURLY as long as it is turned on, not every two hours as the manual states. The most recent reading is stored in register one, and earlier readings are shifted up one place when the new data point is stored. So, assuming the unit was powered on for the period of testing, the data in register 16 would be 16 hours old, and the data in register 5 would be five hours old. When I replaced the batteries, the stored data did not disappear, nor did the barometric calibration change. There is no obvious way to clear old data. When the unit is off, no changes to the stored data are made. When the batteries reach a certain discharge level, the backlight will no longer illuminate, and the screen will display "Er2" instead of the usual data. That's your cue to change batteries. When attempting to calibrate the barometer, the settings are made in millibars, not inches of mercury. So, if you know your local barometric pressure, you have to convert it to millibars to get the reading right. (1mb = 0.03"Hg, and 1013mb = 29.92"Hg) If you plan to use the instrument at sea level, and you are somewhere higher than sea level when you do your calibration, you can adjust your local barometer setting downward by 1mb or 0.03"Hg for each 30 feet above sea level your are at the moment. For example, my local barometer setting is 29.92 and I am 150 feet above sea level. I therefore set my barometer to 1008 mb (1013 - 150/30, or 29.92 - 0.15"Hg.) get 29.77"Hg at my elevation. If I then go down to sea level, the pressure will rise to agree with the local barometric pressure. The altitude readout on the instrument is effectively useless because there is no easy way to determine sea level pressure ahead of time, so the altitude reading won't be corrected for sea level pressure. The issued cited above would be problematic for a professional-grade instrument, but, for the price of this unit, you can easily ignore the problems and you can still get useful info. Enjoy!

This will make a fine addition to my RV, Camping, and Travel accessories that i take on trips.
I have had this anemometer for just a few days so it has had little use. i have compared several of the readings to existing devices I already have such as thermometers both digital and mercury, altitude to gps, wind speed to a stationery home weather station. All readings were within acceptable tolerances. The device appears to be well built, light and easy to read. The anemometer is easy to use and small enough to easily carry or pack when traveling. It does come with a carrying case for device protection and ease of transporting. It did meet my expectations and arrived on time and well packaged. NJ

Is NOT consistently accurate! Temp and altitude are wrong, does that mean wind speed is incorrect
Was very excited to get this anemometer to assist me in shooting my 22 pellet rifle. Humidity temperature and wind speed in all affect the projectiles travel and I was hoping this would help me shoot better. No matter which setting you’re trying to access they always default to metric so you have to press the button several times to reach American English measurements: Wind speed; default to meters per second, next press kilometers per hour, next press feet per minute next press knot next press miles per hour. Barometer; default to inches of mercury the USA standard, second press. Hectopascal’s & milibars Altitude; defaults to meters, second press, feet (mine is 60 feet to high) Temperature; default to Centigrade, second press Fahrenheit, third press Relative Humidity (RH). You must leave it in the area to measure for 5 to 10 minutes. Wind; default to meters per second, second press kilometers per hour, third press feet per minute, fourth press knots, fifth press miles per hour. I’ll leave it up to you to decide if the programming of the buttons is convenient for you. It’s a little irritating, but I can live with it. The thing that I can’t live with is that The altimeter is off by 60 feet. How bad will that inaccuracy be at 2000 feet? The temperature is also off from between 4 to 9°. If these two numbers are incorrect, how far off are the wind speed and barometer? I suppose if I’m using just this device for measuring the weather numbers then it should be OK to adjust air pressure settings of my pcp gun to it’s readings. I just don’t know if the numbers will fluctuate. Glad I’m not shooting competition right now. I would send this back except I threw away the box by accident so I can’t return it.

Not everything worked as advertised
This review is for the BTMETER BT-100WM This anemometer seemed to work okay but the altimeter didn't work. I manually calibrated the barometer and the altimeter wouldn't adjust to my altitude. In fact, it showed me at 0 feet even though I'm at over 1000' in elevation. I contacted the manufacturer support and they advised that it should "self calibrate". It didn't. The included batteries died within a couple of hours of use. So I put fresh batteries in it and left it on for two more hours on my desk and the barometer changed with the atmospheric pressure changes but the altimeter didn't change at all. Still showed me at sea level. And there's no way to manually modify your altitude. I did originally buy this for the wind speed measurement but the other features advertised are equally important to me for what I needed to use it for. Also, it's a little too challenging to change the batteries. They provide you with the needed screw driver but those little screws are bound to get dropped or lost. And then once you get them out, it's not easy to remove the battery cover. It's kind of frustrating to be honest. They should have just put a standard push down and slide it off type cover. Overall, the unit is lightweight, compact, and the other features seemed to work okay, I bought it for all of the features advertised, and they didn't all work. Maybe the one I received just had this one flaw and the others are fine.

Solid build and quality
Very pleased with this unit. Well built and easy to read. A must for those who like to monitor weather and even help with forecasting. The instructions are not the greatest (why I took "Easy to use" rating down a star)...you can download the PDF of the manual to make it easier on the eyes though it is the same as the instructions that are included. Practice a lot with the buttons and options first, and get a good understanding online of relationship between altitude/elevation and barometric pressure, and how to correct for sea level readings that are often what is published online regardless of your elevation. Recommend leaving your BTMETER set for your altitude and correct for sea level manually,

Nice
