Scubapromens Boat Coat

Sizing and quality
As other reviewers have said, sizing is a challenge with these coats. In certain brands I wear a medium, most of the time a large, especially if I'm going to wear layers. I ordered the large in this coat and had to return it for an XL. Which is still a bit tight. I have a 42" chest, 33" waist and 5'9". The quality is great, seals on the sleeves to reduce wind coming up the sleeves, fairly heavy and the hood is made properly to stay on your head, but not so large that you can't see unless you wear a baseball cap. I was on a dive boat in early Dec. with about 12 divers, 4 had this coat and were a lot more comfortable than the rest of us.

Perfect Boat/ Dive Jacket
I wore this on my dive trip to the Bahamas. We had wicked weather all week and I was so grateful to have this jacket onboard. We were getting sea spray from the crashing 4-6ft seas and getting blasted by occasional rain storms. While all my dive buddy's tried to find a dry spot on the boat, I was standing happily in the teeth of the weather, Feeling cozy and looking like a pro. This jacket not only keeps you dry and warm, its looks freakin awesome. A few of my dive friends said it had a "superhero" effect bc the shoulders have a cool ribbed detail. Another great feature is the longer backside that keeps your tush dry wherever you sit. All pockets have zippers for safekeeping items you want handy. When I was in the water, I zipped the front and simply tied the jacket around the boats TTop. It shed the rain while I dove and was ready for me when I needed it.For reference, I'm a 5'10" , 165 lb lady and I purchased the men's Large. It fits loose and comfy with room to move, and I can wear a 1.5m wetsuit under.

I love it!
It has everything I need. The hand covers were a very nice surprise. It’s longer than another boat coat I tried and fits me perfectly. I like how secure it feels with the zipper and ability to tighten it in certain places. Made a huge difference on my long boat ride after a dive in Cozumel. I got drenched the first time and said never again. This coat helped me keep that promise.

Very good boat jacket - Pre or Post Dive
I purchased this jacket as a post dive boat jacket and I am very happy. Its super warm, great in a wet environment (spray, wet deck, getting it on post dive) and looks good too. Its a little tight in the arms however and seems to fit (arms) like a loose wet suit rather than a jacket. Slightly bigger would be nice as would be a removable hood as the current design which incorporates the hood is not super comfortable with the hood off (it kind of flops around). I high collar would be better. A little pricey but still reasonable value.

Good Jacket
Overpriced but good jacket. Same build as a 3mm wetsuit.

When you need to stay warm while wet
This coat is unbeatable if you need to stay warm while wet. Whether it’s surface intervals or after the dive and cruising in, this coat immediately takes the chill out of your bones. Can be too warm if you start moving around. It is one more piece of neoprene that will require fresh water rinse and dry, which is kind of a hassle - but I’ve gone with and without it and way better with it.

Sizing explained?
I wrote a very thorough review of this but it got deleted when I hit submit. So here’s the short versionSizing - they screwed up. My 2XL is actually a size L/52 (see photo). They mistag the 52’s as 56’s which converts to a US XL. But they call the US XL a US 2XL (weirdly). You can decide what size to buy based on this. Whoever created the tags for these jackets doesn’t know what they are doing.Design Pros - I like the long tail and the stretchy neoprene fabric. The jacket is comfortable and wind proof. There is a 2” wide by 3” deep pocket inside the right hand pocket (not sure what for). Both hand pockets are deep and comfortable. The hood can be cinched down. The 2XL fit me the way a LTall jacket would fit me.Design Cons - The wrist extensions are not neoprene (this could also be a pro). The chest pocket is too small for a phone. Zipper is on the left. The hood requires 2 hands to cinch, unlike a north face jacket which only requires one hand.
