Tramontina Enameled Cast-Iron Dutch Oven 3.5 Qt (Gray), 80131/638DS

I needed a pan for the size, which is exactly what I wanted. Heard good things about the brand as reasonable alternative for Le Creuset and Staub. I got this because those two brands don’t make them in this size/shape . It’s a much thicker product, which immediately makes it more heavy/chunky for its true volume capacity. Still I didn’t mind. However, within days of first use, chips were already happening around the rims of the pan as well as the rim of lid. The bottom of the pan also started the “crackling” pattern which I’ve seen in a friend’s cuisinart cast iron pan. Considering I own the entire line of Le Creuset and many Staubs, and had many of them for more than 20 yrs without any chipping or crackling. I don’t feel the savings in cost is proportionate to the future loss of usage as I can see having to throw it out in a couple years. This pan is also much less abused than the others as had been mostly used for light cooking.
