Good beginner harp
Good beginner harp easy to play and more forgiving reed than others ( it's is thinner and less likely to break a tooth or hit a tooth and hurt as bad). The jew ,Jewes, juice or jaw harp (pick your proper term) is a great harp for the price i was able to play notes and songs once I picked it up follow the instructions and play with it until you have a ah-ha moment, lip and teeth play a big part YouTube has a couple really good videos . Although I have played one before this one was way easier to play. Another users review said the coating tasted weird my doesn't have any on the mouth part . Low cost + good sound + fun = good in my book

A CHEAP MUST-HAVE FOR ANYBODY LOOKING TO PLAY JAW HARP
I originally bought this on a whim, just looking to experiment with it. At first glance, I thought this jaw harp was going to be nothing more than a child's toy. However, after receiving it, I couldn't have been more wrong. Good quality, nice volume, and you can easily make different notes with it. Definitely NOT one of those "you get what you pay for" purchases. I may end up getting the whole set.

Easier to Hold then Some for Those With Fine Motor Challenges
I am going to go out on one of my limbs and defend this product. I purchased this because our son's music therapist, who is totally awesome with him, thought this might be worth trying because of the rhythm stimulus it would provide through his teeth. So teaching him to use this is going to be a bit of work and a longer process. So it arrived in a package labeled trophy music, which some reviewers felt was deceptive and made it seem more toy like in appearance. It mentions in the product description that the product could come labeled either Grover or Trophy as they are the same company, so I was expecting this and did not feel deceived. I also felt like the packaging worked better then the more "professional" box the soprano jaw harp I ordered of a different brand came in, simply because the box came smashed up. At least the jaw harp itself on that one came wrapped in bubble wrap so it wasn't damaged, but my point is that in my world, packaging isn't quite as important as how well an item works. Honestly, this Alto jaw harp is easier for me to play. I have put a picture up of the comparison of the size, so if you are looking at this because a music therapist made a recommendation to you and you have a child who has fine motor struggles, I would definitely go with this or maybe their tenor jaw harp because they will be easier to hold and manipulate. It is also easier for me to produce an attractive sounding rhythm on this Alto grover/trophy jaw harp then it is on the soprano one. It is most certainly true that the red coating on the part of the harp that you hold comes off pretty easily. This doesn't really affect how it plays, and I'm not planning on giving this for a gift. And to be perfectly honest, my son's going to try and chew on this thing no matter how carefully I supervise him with it which will totally make me not a good source for gauging durability under normal conditions for this product. Although ironically enough, he doesn't want to put this thing in his mouth as of yet. I would also say it is possible that this could rust, I see a couple of areas on the back that I would expect may do so over time. Honestly, small bits of rust aren't harmful, you can scrape it off before use if you're concerned, but really, it's actually not a big deal...it's more of an aesthetic issue, and perhaps a taste issue, but if you clean it off regularly and dry it before you put it away, I'm thinking you shouldn't really have a problem with it. So my verdict on this would be...if you are giving it as a gift, this may develop some optics that won't make the giftee happy if they are above a certain age. Otherwise, it produces a good sound. If you are worried about rust and really want to avoid it at all costs, you can also get bamboo jaw harps that play on the lips. I saw this really cool video of a gentleman who made one out of a ruler and sounded super cool. For me, we're using this for therapy, it's going to be the easier of the two to hold, it produces a better sound, it's easier to produce a sound on it, and he's going to chew up the paint on it anyways so I'm not concerned about the aesthetics. My only thing with the paint coming off is I have no idea what's in that, and I'm guessing that unlike rust, it probably isn't so harmless, and since he's a chewer...that's why I took the star off. Overall though, I think this will definitely work for what we need it for.

Mediocre
Not the best, but not bad for the price. being an alto means more metal. More metal means easier to get out-of-alignment. Just be aware these seem to work better using an open throat, but even so the sound produced isn't very consistent.

Fun, simple, deeper sounding jaw harp
I learned a little about this kind of instrument in college, and always had fun making little single note songs. There's a lot you can do with breathing and mouth shaping to vary the tones. The method of play is worth studying before you attempt, because you're basically plucking a metal spring between your teeth, and it kind of smarts if your aim is off. Still, for the money, it's well built and easy to enjoy.

Item broke the day the return period expired
This was my first jaw harp and was a lovely and wonderful instrument, until the steel spring snapped at the weld due to fatigue. Really? Fatigue stress in an instrument based on vibration? Who would have ever thought? Now it goes in the recycle bin while I find a more robustly-constructed instrument. With that said, it really is a lovely instrument. This one came almost perfectly tuned in the key of D which happens to be ideal for my favorite kinds of music. Instant play-along! Highly recommend the instrument in general, just not this one.

This was my first time experimenting with a jaw harp and I've been really enjoying this you can tell that this is a cheaper variant as you can't get very long sounds going but it's been a lot of fun and definitely worth the money but I will say to anyone getting this for the first time make sure to look up how to position it on your mouth properly as it is easy to hit your teeth if you're not careful. Good product good value thank you to the seller
