You can't go wrong with Plano.
my sincerest thanks to everyone that was involved in getting this to me, especially you drivers, loaders and warehouse guys and gals.with that out of the way...Plano has some really great stuff for storage of items. you really can't go wrong with them and between Plano and MTM, they're all i ever use.PRO's:1). well worth the money. you're not going to break the bank in buying them and should you find a Plano product being sold for an exorbitant price, contact them directly.2). with a bit of fair upkeep, they'll last for years. i've got a Plano case that is nearly 20 years old. a few scratches, scuffs, and a couple of dings but a good wipe down with some Armor All and it's still looking good.3). the foam lining is just rough enough and firm enough to keep everything in it's place without worry and it's easily replaceable.4). extremely lightweight for it's size. does you no good to have a 30lbs case that you're not wanting to lug around just for it's weight and bulkiness.CON's:1). this is not the case that you're going to go into the zombie apocalypse with. don't be stupid.2). this is not going to fit all the tricked out, dicked out CoD inspired modification you might have installed. don't be stupid.3). this is not for commercial travel even if you put a TSA approved lock set on it. the baggage handlers will have a field day with your stuff and while the case may arrive at your destination, the item(s) that were in it will be at somebody's baby mama's apartment. you'll know when they post their haul on their "gram" page. don't be stupid.4). this is not waterproof, weatherproof or fireproof. Plano makes those types of cases but they are significantly more expensive. so don't be stupid.lastly...Amazon why does your review app want to know "what this item will be used for" and "what type of gun"? seriously. my information of items owned is the same as my medical information, none of anybody's business. don't have me get all HIPAA up in here.

Nice case for home to the range and back. Not for traveling!
This case will easily carry two scoped rifles. Great for short travels like to the local range. Not sturdy enough or has enough padding for long travels where it might get knocked around. You need to spend 3 times more for that case. Also thin plastic can't really secure contents.

Well worth the price
This is your basic, bare-bones, plastic, gun case that will hold 2 scoped rifles or a pair of shotguns. It's made of rigid, molded plastic. Inside the case, there are two foam "egg crate"-type fitted panels, one for the top section of the case and one for the bottom. Or the left and one for the right, depending upon your orientation. Plano calls it "High-Density Foam." In a $40 gun case, maybe. Not in a $200 gun case.It has 4 "Contoured Recessed Latches." They work fine to hold the case closed in the back seat of your car, or securely stowed in a pickup, SUV, or car. I wouldn' put this in checked baggage on an airliner.Lastly, the case has padlock "tabs" right at the molded-in handle. Plano says this is for "Added security."Emotional security, maybe. The plastic used to make this case is thin. Not "3 mil garbage bag" thin, but thin nonetheless. It could EASILY be cut wide open by a boxcutter.Bottom line: I bought this to hold a pair of high-price, scoped air rifles of British and German manufacture. I put four 10 gram bags of silicone desiccant in the case with the rifles. That is to inhibit rust from forming on the barrels, actions, etc. And the case holding the rifles will be stored on a shelf in a large closet. It's worth $40 to me for it to do that. When I take to anywhere to shoot, it will be to the table on the patio near the swimming pool. That's about it for the distance this case is likely to be traveling with rifles inside it.Now, this is not to say it won't protect your firearms. It will, as long as you don't overdo things. Be reasonably careful about how you transport it in vehicles. And don't let this case slide from side to side and front to back of a pickup truck's bed. If you do that, it should deliver decent protection to the firearms it contains.I have another Plano case. This one is made from heavy aluminum. Each latch (there are a lot of them) is fitted with "tabs" for padlocks. It has heavy-duty everything and contains high-density foam. REALLY high-density foam. I would throw that case into a whitewater raft, and as long as it was weathered to the raft, I wouldn't give a second thought to the safety of my firearms.Oh...that one cost a few hundred dollars. The rifle it protects is a full-custom tack driver. I have it listed separately on my insurance policy. Its value is better than 100 times that of the inexpensive Plano rifle case. And that rifle in its aluminum case is frequently handled by airline baggage workers. Thus, it merits the heavy, expensive case sporting 4 padlocks. And the case's hefty price.I hope this helps.

basic protection
I use this to place in my truck and go to the shooting site. It would not be adequate for rough handling.
