Boye 3626397000M I Taught Beginner's Kit with Crochet Needles

I got this book to help with teaching a couple young girls to crochet. It was a bit too advanced for them. I'm sure it would be fine for someone older. So I ordered another book that's a beginner guide for kids.

I found myself in the mood to make an afghan for our new home. I needed one needle in particular and found this kit for a couple bucks extra, so why not buy it with the extra goodies? Boye is a time loved product and has been in my craft room for years. The only reason for not giving this five stars is because it was obviously a prior purchase by someone and part of the kit was missing. (The split-ring stitch markers were missing). Fornuately, I already own these and having extras would be just that, extras. The company should have checked prior to shipping to make sure the kit was complete.I will be honest however, I did not look at the book or the DVD. I am an experienced needleworker and there was nothing that I would have learned from them. I bought the kit for the extra needles.

All the needles were great. The book was okay the DVD wasn't the best. I went online to youtube for better primers. I'd just get this for the needle set and a handy guide. It's worth it just for that. But if you want to save a few bucks just get a few needles.I would up going to get some lessons on the cheap $15/hr. I got started on the first few stitches and that's all I needed. The book is good if you need to go back and relearn a few stitches.Also, they have patterns in there. I mean you can find patterns online for free but as a package I'd say this wasn't that bad.

This is a good book. The instructions are easy to follow with the help of the DVD. It is also helpful to goggle videos of the different stitches. However, I find that after I do that I end up reaching for the book to help me remember the stitch.

This kit is worth it just in the needles you get. The book however can be confusing to someone who is new to crocheting. I bought this for my daughter who didn't understand it well. Luckily I know enough to be able to teach her. Don't rely on the book alone. Watch some YouTube videos and use the needles

I'm really disappointed in this kit. I bought this kit in hopes of getting some simply beginner patterns, but the ones included in the book wear extremely hard to follow and pretty outdated. It is great for learning the basic stitches (which I was already very familiar with) and it includes some other 'special' stitches such as the afghan, broomstick lace, and hairpin lace but doesn't include the materials needed for broomstick lace and hairpin stitches. The patterns were confusing and included NO photos or illustrations so I had no idea if I was even doing it right. I eventually gave up because even the simplest beginner patterns required you to create stitches the book doesn't explain (one scarf calls for creating a 'shell'. I don't know what a shell should look like and had no reference to know if it was being done correctly.The hooks and other materials that are included are nice, though, and include a variety of sizes. It also explains other hooks and what they are used for. However the included DVD was awful. The woman does not explain very well and only shows you how to do a single crochet and a double crochet, nothing else! Overall a bad kit.

This was a great gift to my friend who wanted to learn to make her own things.

I purchased this for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She sent me this picture yesterday!! She loves the set. She learned how to crochet the basics very quickly. Now she is learning more advanced patterns. All in just 3 days!I would recommend this set to anyone wanting to learn the basics (and more) quickly and easily. Great book.

I did not enjoy this book....maybe because it is a bit dated. The instructions and illustrations are not clear. I learned to crochet by watching youtube videos.

Does what it says on the tin. Super beginner guide, especially the description of basic stitches which I have referred to often as I learn. Like the project patterns too. The free hooks are US sizes though, and the stitch markers aren't great. There is also a slight error in the description of Afghan crochet (I only discovered this when I YouTubed it.) Don't let that put you off, though. This is still a great, comprehensive beginners guide.

I love it, it really is a great teaching aid. Easy concise instructions and the DVD is so handy. Brilliant

Not too impressed. Slim book in 3 languages, basic DVD and a few simple tools. No wool for a starter project. I bought this for my wife just home from hospital as a diversion and now have to go shopping for other materials.

Bought two of these kits, one for my daughter and one for my daughter in law. Both had expressed a wish to learn how to crochet but although I can crochet myself didn't think I would be any good at showing them so this kit has come in really handy. Gives them a real sense of how to begin, Comes with needles, a booklet showing the stitches and how to start, together with a Dvd. A great little kit.
