I smoked various cheeses to give as Christmas presents. I ordered tis wax to preserve the cheese. In a double boiler it melted very easily. I chose to brush it on the cheese with a paint brush rather than dipping. The wax cooled very quickly on the cheese and it looked beautiful. My friends and family were quite impressed. I did have a slightly hard time cutting off a small chunk to put in my double boiler, I didn't want to melt the whole block, but my husband came to the rescue. It is worth the money and I will definitely purchase again in the future.

We bought a lot of cheese when we were in Wisconsin and I wanted to make the blocks smaller. So I used this wax to seal the cut ends of the already waxed loaves of cheese. It worked great. The wax melts under low heat. It coated well. Still working on clean up but I used a pot I don’t mind throwing away. Excellent product.

I only did 4 stars on easy to use because it was solid for the most part (not on 1 end). Because it was solid I wasn’t able to break it in half to put in my small slow cooker to melt. Even so, I ordered a 2nd one and it’s scheduled for delivery today. I would definitely purchase this again and I can suggest this as a good product for the future.

I guess it did its job. However, I did not realize it would take about an HOUR to melt. And...make sure you do not drip the wax because it's not so easy to clean it up. I melted in a double boiler and used an Oven Bag so I could save any unused wax to use later. I dipped 6 pounds of cheese and had plenty of wax left over. Just let it cool in the Oven Bag and packed it away for later.

I’m using those to preserve store-bought cheese. The wax melted great and was easy to apply to the cheese. The value was good for the wax, and I will be ordering more for the future.

Easy and CHEAP way to keep cheese for long term storage

Trial and error, we found out that the wax falls off the cheese and has such a thin layer if the heat is on too high. We had to dip more than 10 times to make a decent layer. Once we turned down the heat some and dipped the cheese, then the wax stayed on it in a thicker layer and we only needed to dip it twice! So the wax temp makes a big difference! Great product!!

This is my first time using wax to seal cheese. It melted nicely and covered the cheese well.

Great product - waxed two 7.5” cheddar wheels (2-3 coats) and can still wax a few more with the remaining wax from the 1 pound slab. It melted quickly and dried super fast (I put the 2 wheels in the freezer for 15mins prior to waxing). Will be buying more again for sure.

Easily melts down on a low temperature. I redipped my cheddar 3x each side as I am a first time user and I was not sure if one dip alone was sufficient to store cheese and be shelf stable. It reminds me of those little red disc cheeses baybel. I poured my leftover wax into a container with parchment and then stored that with some of the original block the next time I get more cheese. I heard this can make cheese last a year on the shelf so will see how it goes. I wanted an option for storage other than the freezer so that even without electricity I will have some cheese on the shelf.

This is my first time using this product and I'm very impressed. I'm using it to wax my home made ricotta salata cheese and this wax is great. It's easy to use and is completely odorless of course. If you're a cheese maker I highly recommend this wax for this application.

This product is great, especially if you like to get the big blocks of cheese but can't always finish one before the cheese goes off. Melts down easily. I like how I can cut a small piece off to use and not have to melt the whole bar.

It can be re-used, saving money.
