BlueVue 3-5/8"" Overflow Gasket Kit with Overflow Cover for Stopping Tub Leaks, Chrome

Our tub surround is from 1980 as is the crappy gasket on the overflow drain. We had water leaking from the tub into the basement every time someone took a bath. This gasket saved me from cutting through the wall to replace the poor fitting brass drain assembly and or replacing the entire tub that wasn’t lined up properly to the plumbing by the original installation. Super simple but completely effective at eliminating the leaking. The cover plate is well built and finished better than any of the Home Depot options. Will never use a different product for an overflow drain.

On my single screw situation, due to the slight curvature of the tub wall around the hole, the silicone flange does not seal tightly against the tub wall(on the top of the hole) when tightening the screw of the chrome plate. Bending the three hole metal plate slightly to fit the curb may work but the option I used was to simply seal the small gap with sink and tub silicone caulking.

If you are looking at this product you probably already have a leak, and this product is the solution! The gasket that builders install to stop water from leaking from the overflow pipe in a bathtub are cheap, and degrade over time. Until that morning or night comes when you discover that you have a leak. In looking around, I discovered this product after I wasn't satisfied with simply putting a similar gasket on, and it would have been difficult, if not impossible to do it correctly. I've included a picture which is definitely worth a thousand words. This product works, it's ingenius. It makes me wonder why builders don't use this - oh wait, no need to wonder - if they can spend $2.00 as opposed to $10.00 they will choose the cheaper product every time - even if, it costs you thousands of dollars a decade later. Enough of that, I have two upstairs bathtubs and now that I know this works, I'm going do some prevention and install one of these in the other bathtub knowing it is a ticking time bomb just waiting to leak. Thank you Blue-Vue, you guys should do an infomercial because this is definitely a product that would help before you discover that you really, really need it. Like most things of genius, it's a simple idea, easy to install, and inexpensive.

Solved my bathtub overflow gasket leak problem and it looks good doing it.

I have had a bathtub overflow leak for years and attempted repairs by myself were not able to eliminate the leak entirely. Finally I saw this product on the web and felt it make sense. My overflow pipe had only one central screw hole so I don’t need the two extra screw holes on the steel gasket and on the blue silicone, yet them will let water in and may cause leak. The trick is to align them 45 degree to each other so the open holes are blocked and sealed. Don’t align them in 90 degree because the outer metal cover has two legs pressing down there so you don’t want the two metal legs land in the two gasket holes. Also the blue silicone tube was too long for my overflow pipe so I carefully cut it short with a scissors. Finally the new screw was too short for my assemblies so I just used the old one. Now I had no more leakage after extensive testing! Ordered another set for my other bathtub.

Worked perfect to seal a tub with very hard access to the waste pipes. Would definitely purchase again for problem tub overflow assemblies.
