Upgrading my review to 4. Low to no options for more than 8GB on RAM.
I bought this MOBO to update a 10 yr old PC that had an ASUS motherboard. I purchased an i5 processor and some RAM. I could see where I could have gone wrong buying a RAM that was not on the qualified list of ASUS for this motherboard. However, when I chose the RAM I looked at speeds (PC#s, pins...). I went ahead with my choice since I never had issues updating/purchasing RAMs.I went ahead and made all connections with care. Double checked each cord. I installed Win 10, clean install. Went ahead updated drivers, using ASUS DVD. I thought all is good, until next day when I got my first BlueScreenOfDeath.I loaded free program to check for errors, made lists, looked online. Results: all name update drivers. Ok. Got in Device manager, updated each driver click/update/search...install if needed. All good until next BSOD, a few hours later. Call ASUS support, described the error, tech support was trying hard, I ended up installing at ASUS recommendation, an older driver for VGA (well, older as per Win10, but not per ASUS website, from what I recall).A day later... BSOD again. Create files and files with details, send to my IT brother and ask him if he can help. (Awaiting response). Now, I was looking to build another system using ASUS mobo Z170, more powerful, since the above one was meant for media only (pics, shows, music).BUT, I am not sure if I should go ahead: 1) using ASUS, go other brand, or 2) simply go MAC spending extra 600 on top of my planned 1250?I am not IT specialist, I know 10 years ago was easier matching specs, but what went wrong with this build? Is it the MOBO? Win10?I also uninstalled AUSUS USB hub filter driver and ASUS AiCharger - since these were among details. Here are the errors caused by ntoskrnl.exe+142760 (x64) on this motherboard:SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTIONPFN_LIST_CORRUPTMEMORY_MANAGEMENTSYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTIONMEMORY_MANAGEMENTSYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTIONMEMORY_MANAGEMENTHere is the processor and RAM installed:http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-3550-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B007SZ0EJW?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC3-12800-Non-ECC-CT2KIT102464BA160B-CT2CP102464BA160B/dp/B00AZGZFF4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00NOTE: looking further in VQL from ASUS, even though ASUS says the board supports up to 16GB RAM, they do not list option in the VQL for 2x8GB. I must be missing something. Will ASUS help here?UDIMM RAM vs SDRAM is said to be X red car vs X white car. And an ASUS tech support, said the RAM I installed should be ok, even though is not "approved". How can I install 16GB RAM if I only have 2 slots available but ASUS VQL is not listing "approved" 2x8GB.Shall I get another ASUS for a new build? That is the question. Thanks for reading!

When use the ASUS update app and choose update from file or internet and select v 1402 or 1306 or 1305 ( I have v 1304) the app
Product as advertised. Been running solid for a month non stop. The only complaint is I can not update the BIOS. When use the ASUS update app and choose update from file or internet and select v 1402 or 1306 or 1305 ( I have v 1304) the app acts like it installs and even says it succeeded but after reboot nothing changed its still at v 1304. Not sure if this is a board defect or the updater tool is crap.

only one memory slot work. tried multiple LGA1155 CPU, multiple memory. it does not post if the slot near the CPU is used. odd. also tried 2nd board. it did the same thing. only other possibility is that the CPU has mem issues, but with 2 different generation CPU, sandybridge and ivybridge, it is unlikely.

Even at the start logo if i hold down the supr button or F2 never get into the bios setup, just show a black screen and then turn off. I work with computers, assembling, technical services and this mobo is not working properly and im very disappointed. i send a claim to this seller and now i have to contact the manufacturer, I never turn it on until this week and didnt work, there is not Guarantee? Very affordable but has USB 2.0 header for front USB ports...
Very affordable motherboard that packs a punch! It comes with almost everything you need for a Mini-ITX build. Everything works perfectly! It's an older board, but has most conventional stuff you want for a computer. The main things I was looking for was the support of memory over-clocking, PCI-E 3.0 BUS, and Gigabit NIC/connection.Cons: It doesn't have a USB 3.0 header on the motherboard for front USB 3.0 ports. However, you can use an "Apevia CVTUSB32 USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 Converter Cable" so you can use the USB 3.0 ports on the front BUT at USB 2.0 transfer rates. The memory is limited to 16GB. Finally, it only has 2 fan headers. (I needed just one more.)

Bought this to replace a similar ATX format board, and was planning on moving all the components to the new board. Upon receipt, was afraid massive video card wasn't going to fit. Everything is so compact on this board, but it all fit. The new board has been operational for a couple weeks now with no problems.

DOA
Received this mobo DOA. Amazon was great and accepted my return, but I just overall didn't like the motherboard. This mobo barely fit into my case, and just didn't feel very well built at all. Personally, I'm not a fan of the layout of the CPU as in most cases this pins the CPU heatsink right against the power source; I feel like it could have been designed better. What really kills this motherboard for me though, is the ASUS customer service. I tried contacting them via their live chat system, and had to fill out more information than is on my yearly taxes just to do an online chat with one of them. Then, after filling everything out, was given an error message, in korean! After that I closed the page and sealed the return box.

Gets the job done..
Almost everything you need in such a small board. The only gripe I have is not having any USB hookups on the board itself. You only get the external USB ports leaving any case usbs useless.
