I had a several mockingbirds trying to take up residence in a large bush/tree beside my house. We think they came here from another house where they cut back all the big bushes. Anyway They made the most awful loud squawking noise throughout the day disturbing me while working from home. They would also fly by and dive bomb my cat when she tried to sit on the porch, intimidating her making her hide and try to come side. I researched how to get rid of them as they were becoming a nuisance to me and my cat and found this big beautiful horned owl. I sat him up on the city recycle bin right next to the tall bush/tree they had taken over. Amazingly, silence, nothing but the peaceful sound of regular birds chirping. After a day or so I moved him to the other blue recycle bin, as recommended, to make him look more life like. Sweet silence. I love this guy! When I opened the big box he was much bigger than I expected. The color and markings are very realistic and attractive. His eyes look so real! They look like glass and almost light up. It is plastic and feels light, but there is a hole in the bottom with a stopper that you can remove and fill with rocks, etc. to weight it down to stabilize it. I love this guy not only because he backs those mockingbirds up but he is beautiful - he is truly an asset to my yard. Would buy again 💯 percent!

Works great keeping the sparrows away from devouring all the feed at my bird feeders. We move it a few feet once a week to keep the effect real.

I have crazy birds literally trying to peck away and destroy my house. They have pecked multiple holes large enough for them to nest in. Nothing except sitting outside with a water spray bottle in hand seems to be able to keep them away. In that context, this owl seems to have deterred many of them. It certainly isn't the end-all solution but it has had an impact for sure. On the pros side it is lightweight and easy to move around, and also very lifelike so I feel like it is pretty effective for its intended purpose. On the cons side, because it is so light, it needs to be secured in place or the slightest breeze is sure to knock it over. That makes for a second downside because there is no provided mechanism for attaching it to anything. There is a slight indent underneath that could be used to set it atop a circular pillar or something, but no instructions were provided for how to do this. The best bet seems to be glue it down (which would reduce its effectiveness as instructions did say to move it every couple of days to make it seem more lifelike) or attach it impermanently with tape. Overall a 4 star item. Would be a 5 star if it came with instructions and hardware for mounting it, or was heavy enough to not topple over in the wind. But it gets the job done.

As shown in advertisement it is colorful , life like and is a great size. It was great for our Harry Potter themed 11th Birthday party and later was used as yard decor.

This fake owl arrived exactly as pictured and was easy to set up and use. Initially, it did work—within the first few days it successfully scared away a large bird that had been perching on my screen and leaving a mess on my patio. Unfortunately, the effectiveness didn’t last long. Because the owl is completely stationary, the birds eventually figured out it wasn’t real and returned as if nothing had changed. I wish I had known ahead of time that the deterrent effect would be so temporary. While the product looks fine and is simple to use, it was only effective for a very short period. If you’re considering this, be aware that without movement or repositioning, birds quickly catch on.

It keeps the birds away from my car and my little pet. Since I put the owl up near my car, the birds have stayed away. It works great. You might need to move the owl every few weeks, no more birds messing up my car or terrorizing my pet. I've had it up for four months now works great!

Kept finding bird crap on my trex railing and deck, and I'm talking squadron level dive bombing. I could have sworn I heard the laughing at me from a nearby tree. Put this guy out and not a single incident since. It's set up to be weighted with some sand through a locking cap at the bottom because it is very light, but solid built.

Even though it is make from plastic, it is quite a nice likeness of an owl. But the thing is... Scare wildlife? I have squirrels, rabbitts, and ground hogs in my yard. Maybe they have never seen an owl before, but they looked at the thing like... meh, what is that? I imagine this video in my head, with the critters rolling on their backs, pointing at the "owl" and laughing their backsides off. Yeah, its a cool piece, I like it, but its not much of a scarecrow... I ended up leaving it on my kitchen table.

It kept the birds from crapping on my window in my sunroom. I put it on the roof of my sunroom for a few days , then moved it to the lawn . Seems to work , haven’t had to rewash windows …
