Q: how ready is this product to use if you are attacted? by this I mean does it have to be turned on?doed it have to be shaken? etc.

This spray comes ready to use. It will always be in the "on" position. This one has a sort of "tap" above the button to release spray, meaning when your ready to use it, in an emergency, you need to just put your finger beneath the "tap lever" and on top of the spray mechanism. It's easy to use after you familiarize yourself with it. Be sure to test it out in an area outside and away from where anyone or any pets will be for awhile. Please keep that in mind, as it would be terrible if someone walking their dog went in that area 30-40 min after you test it. Since this one comes out like "silly string", it remains on object for awhile. Just like any weapon, test before you may have to use it, it's a good idea to know how to hold, use, & aim. Always try to be downwind (I know that's not always possible in an emergency). But again, the types that are like silly string, will have less of a chance of emitting spray where unintended. I have had a very cheap one before I got this one, & I tell you- it didn't work when I needed it! This one seems good. But you'll need to try to be steady when spraying. The upside to this one is that there shouldn't be any "blowback" some cheaper ones have. (blowback being unintended spray going back on you, or in your area). I shook mine before I sprayed, but only by habit. So I don't think you don't need to shake it at all. I carry mine with me all the time, and it hasn't leaked (also what cheap ones do often-which is really bad). This one I like alot. It's bigger than the cheaper ones, about 5" long, 2 1/2" diameter.

Q: Can I store this in my car, or will the heat make it go bad. What is the shelf life? Thanks!

Yes though depending on temp it may not be recommended. In ?NYS we store Mk 9s in cars all the time without issue, be it winter or summer. In TX I may be more concerned. As far as degrading mor while MRE service life varies depending on storage temp I doubt OC would degrade before its service life. Most all OCs are rated at 1-5 years of shelf life; we have used out of service, that is past their service life, for training, some more than 10 years past their dates and ZERO weren’t effective. OC doesn’t typically degrade usually it is propellant leak which causes loss of effectiveness.

Q: Does this gel have dye? UV or otherwise?

I have just read one reply that states SABRE RED DOES have UV dye.... But I read the packaging and I don't see that stated anywhere. I also went to the home page for this product and nowhere does it say that SABRE RED has a UV dye component. Q: what is the dimensions of the actual pepper can? Length and diameter?

I have two, The gel spray can is about 4 1/2" by about 1.5" in diameter, the smaller one which is not a gel spray is about 4" by 3/4" diameter
