I was skeptical but *NEEDED* a charger / holder for a roadtrip... and this fricking delivered.
Alright friends, first off let me tell you that I've had the worst luck with phone mounts in the past. I'm sick of suction cups that can't hold up in the swampy DC summers, magnetic mounts with metal plates that ruin a cute phone case and yet STILL fail at their job when I hit a bump in the road, and vent attachment holders that droop / bend / pop off the vent mid drive! I've only had this mount for a couple weeks but holy heck I'm already impressed. The vent clip is probably my favourite thing because it has this lovely little tooth so it clips not just on, but totally around the vent slat. Such a simple little modification on the typical clip, but it has completely solved the whole mount shifting and sliding off the vent problem! The actual phone holder aspect is sturdy with an adjustable ball and socket aspect so you can set the angle that you want and tighten it up so that sucker stays in place. It took a bit of fiddling to get it all just right, but like a three minute (tops) set up isn't that big a deal in the long run. I was super skeptical about the whole automatic clamping & release feature... sure it seems cool, but would it mistake my reaching to change Spotify playlists at a stoplight for reaching to disconnect my phone?? NOPE! At least in my use thus far, the sensor only seems to activate and release my phone like a half second after my fingers are on both sides of the phone base. So just holding one side of the phone while I use my thumb to change music or check GPS directions doesn't cause a mid-drive debacle. The charger isn't as fast as some direct cables... but it'll get my phone from about a ~50% charge up to at least ~80% (despite using GPS, bluetooth, and running map & music apps) over a ~30min drive. So that's pretty solid considering my in home wireless charger isn't always that hardy. I haven't tried the suction cup arm yet (mainly because I first grabbed the vent mount out of the box and loved the resulting set up), but I will give it a go in another few weeks and update this review with those thoughts - and how this product continues to hold up under some heavy roadtripping. TL;DR: Yes it's a bit pricey, but after spending about $10-$20 each on various phone mounts that break after a few months, it's lovely to have one that feels like it can actually hang around for the long haul.

Almost Amazing, Suction cup melts
*10/20 update, 1 year after purchase *Added pics The suction cup has melted into an unacceptable mess. It's October in Virginia. We didn't even have a brutal summer, it's been unseasonably cool most of the year. The charger and holder itself work great. But it's now completely useless without a suction cup replacement. *Old review below... Almost the best car phone mount I have ever owned. Love the wireless charging and the sensor feature. Fits my phone well and holds it secure with ease. Wireless charging works through my case. Unfortunately, the suction cup is sub-par. The suction cup has started to stretch and tear away from the mounting component, causing the whole mount to be loose, device shaking and bouncing while driving. (Wish I could buy an improved replacement). And I don't have the telescoping arm fully extended, so leverage from the weight of my device is minimal. Someone that needs the full length will likely have more issues and sooner than my experience. I've owned this mount for less than a year, and it has not yet experienced our peak summer temps in Virginia. But the suction cup still fails with a car parked in the sun - the mount falls down. Which gets the suction cup dirty and unusable until I have time to rinse it with water and let it air dry.

Interesting Gadget
So this is a pretty interesting gadget. I was looking for a wireless car charger for my phone and thought this one that had auto clamp/release would be something great to take a look at... All in all it works pretty well. The only issue that I've had so far is that the grip width is about maxed out when I'm using my iPhone XS Max w/Spigen Tough Armor case. What I mean by that is that the auto clamping mechanism is just wide enough to hold this size phone at the max extension - you can see what I mean in the attached video. Pros -------------------------- I like the fact that this wirelessly charges my phone while also holding it in the car. Auto clamping mechanism is novel and is better than ones where you manually have to adjust to put the phone in and out. Room for Improvement --------------------------- The one issue that I had was that occasionally the IR sensor didn't recognize the phone near it to automatically open up. That may be because it was very sunny, and the sun was blaring in the car - confusing the sensor. Maybe just a little bit bigger grip width and height adjustment would be good - my larger phones (iPhone XS Max and Galaxy Note 9) were both barely able to fit when fitted with more bulky cases. I've attached a video that will hopefully explain a bit more of my thoughts, opinions and experience with this phone mount.
