IC-A16 VHF COM Aviation Handheld

This is a great aviation radio.

I am an FBO line technician. I communicate with Ground, as well as scan to know what's coming in. Transmits clear as a bell, and receives all the way from my house 6 miles from the airport. Automatic noise reduction keeps reception clear even when I'm using power equipment. It comes with a basic product manual that references a FULL product manual available online. I never could find such a manual that tells you how to use all the functions (groups, scanning memory, etc.). There are several YouTube videos that show you some of that stuff. Battery lasts a whole eight hour shift with mostly a full battery. I may try two shifts to see if it'll last that. Also, prompt shipping, received exactly the quality product I ordered. I expect years of use.

Great for fly-in traffic control or just to talk to tower from aircraft. Highly recommend

This works well if you are close to an airport (7 miles or less). But if you are about 20 miles out or more, forget it. It's nothing but static. I am looking to see if I can find a way to get an extended range antenna. I may return it if not.

I’m not sure how anyone can be disappointed with this unit, it’s a frigging icom and they don’t make junk. Mine was shipped from Sarasota Avionics which Is where I grew up. They been in business I think at least 25-30 years, they been there long as I can remember. Shipping was fast up to NY brand new sealed box working perfectly. I’m not near an airport but I pick up planes between Syracuse to Canada no problem. It great unit for pilot emergency comms or me that just like to listen. So I do recommend this unit.

Prodotto ottimo. Robusta. Affidabile. Senza fronzoli. Certo con la stessa cifra si può acquistare una yaesu che fa anche il caffe. Ma la icom resta sempre la icom. È praticamente un mattone. Se vi aggrediscono la potete sempre tirare in testa al malvivente e tramortirlo :) . Scherzi a parte prodotto top per chi cerca arrosto senza fumo.

Radio palmare eccezionale, già provata in aeroclub, acquistata per avere più sicurezza in volo. Consigliata ad ogni pilota, come radio di scorta, in caso di avaria radio.
