Excellent - short term use for vegetarian body building
Note: as my title suggests I am vegetarian so part of my review will touch on that, particularly the pancreatin. I was 215lbs, 6ft2" and 13-14% body fat. It is hard to gain at that point because you burn too fast, and getting enough calories in my standard vegetarian diet was difficult. I was at 215lbs for a few years and had trouble getting past that plateau. After one container of this stuff following my normal diet over a week I am at 221lbs with only a slight 0.1-0.2 increase in body fat. Of course I am doing fairly hard-core work-outs as well to keep body fat down. This is a short-term-use product designed to spike calories, not just protein. You can take in 215grams of protein a day, it's easy enough with all the concentrates out there, but if you aren't also increasing caloric intake you will have trouble gaining at a certain point. You'll need way more than a standard 2,000 calories. This is all natural which is why I chose it. I didn't want artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or fillers. As of 06-22-13 The reviews about taste being bad I think are way off base. This mixes very easily, adding almost no bulk to liquids, similar to whey proteins consistency. The taste, when mixed with milk, makes a thicker, slightly sweeter, and slight vanilla hint, other than that there is absolutely zero other flavors noticeable by me. Mixed with water, it tastes similar to vanilla soy milk. Maybe they changed the formula, or maybe the people who wrote badly about taste need artificial flavors and sweeteners as is typical in gain formulas. I think this stuff has its place in a natural body building regimen, but should probably not be used solidly for extended periods because it is not a "whole food". It is missing things like beneficial phytochecmicals found in nuts, beans, fruits, veggies etc. Short term though it is awesome and definitely works. The ingredient list is as follows: Whey (from milk), sunflower oil, maltodextrin, soy protein isolate, calcium caseinate, sodium caseinate, soy lechithin, potassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, natural flavor (includes soybean extract), guar gum, xanthan gum, tocopherols, apple fiber, corn bran, pea fiber, hydrolyzed whey protein, papain, egg white, bromelain, pancreatin. There are no GMO's and it is gluten free. Most soy is GMO-soy if they don't state it isn't. For example 90% of vegetable oil in super markets is GMO soy. I like that this is clearly non-GMO. On a side note, some body builders are paranoid about soy because they think it is estrongenic, I won't go into the debate here, but unless you're a pro body builder or consuming massive amounts of soy, eating some in a mix isn't going to feminize you or make you loose even one rep. Pre-workout this stuff works and gives easily available carb-fuel. Banging out reps after carb-loaded is a lot easier and the testosterone boost from lifting will more than offset a minor plant-based phytoestrogin. The last ingredient, pancreatin, may not be vegetarian. I haven't looked into it honestly, but I know it can be either plant or animal based. Likely it is animal based otherwise I wouldn't see why Naturade wouldn't advertise the product as vegetarian. As a vegetarian I would give this at least one less star because of the sketchy pancreatin, but I realize only 4% of the US is vegetarian. And honestly, I would rather have all-natural with some trace product than a chemical $h1t-storm. That is my honest review of this product. Hope that helps!

Love this! High calorie
This product has helped me gain about 10 pounds in 2 months. I love the vanilla flavor I blend it with fruit milk and orange juice. DO NOT buy the chocolate flavor it does not taste good and is EXTREMELY salty. The vanilla flavor is great tho. Other products don’t have as many calories as this one and have a lot of additional ingredients I don’t want. My only complaint is the container is small and lasts only like 3 days to get the full 1600 calories each day. I’ve repurchased this product a few times and highly recommend if you struggle to gain weight like I do. I started at 99 pounds and am about 109 right now. The only thing that’s been helping me gain weight.

Good stuff but nasty taste.
Okay so this stuff is not delicious like everyone claimed in the reviews I read before purchasing. Just drinking this with just water or milk and stirring by hand, I could hardly get it down without gagging and spitting it out. It is really thick and stirring by hand does not get all the chunks of powder out, and it has a very very very bitter taste. However since I did read alot of reviews on how well it worked..instead of just throwing it out and not using it, I just decided to mess around with it and find a way to maKe it of better use for my taste. So I found two ways that I myself find that it makes it so much better for me stomach and also with an add of sweetness. 1: since stirring it by hand leaves chunks of powder from it being so thick I decided to first off try heating the liquid. I myself prefer to add milk instead of water. So I heat the milk for about a minute and a half then add the powder so the heat devolves the powder chunks while stirring, and then I add two teaspoons of sugar for a sweeter taste, so it's not so bitter. 2: I found that blending it makes it even more better than heating. If you rather have your drink cold instead of hot..(like me) Put a cup of milk and then add either two or four scoops of powder... (Which ever you prefer) and then two tea spoons of sugar...or more if two is not sweet enough for your taste. Then blend all this in a blender for about fifteen seconds or however long you think is enough. Then take out and pour into cup. To me this is the best way. It makes it creamy and smooth and is easier to get down and also I can stomach it easier cold then I can hot. Blending gets all chunks out without having to continuously stir and stir the powder into the milk or water. As far as this stuff actually working to increase my weight, I haven't been using this but for a couple of days..so I haven't used it long enough to notice an Increase in my weight. So hopefully now that I have found me a way to make this more tasteful and can drink it everyday, it will start helping me to gain some weight since my doctors haVe been all over me for being under weight for my age and height. When I start seeing a change I will update on this review, But for now I hope the ideas I posted for an easier way to make this stuff better tasting helped those of you out Who are planning on purchasing or have purchased already but are like me and couldn't stand he taste.. so you can actually stomach it to be able to see whether or not it helps you. Good luck to you all. I will update later on whether it actually helps me with my weight or not. God bless

Tastes good
I use a small blender otherwise it can get clumpy. Taste is very sweet but u get used to it. If u don’t normally drink a lot of milk the milk might mess your stomach up unless you mix with water, but then you won’t be getting the full amount of calories as advertised on the can. Most of the calories come from the milk. I’m trying to gain 10 pounds. Will update in 30 days with results For some reason the large container tastes way different than the small one???? Like very different. I do not like the taste.

This product is a special case. If you are thin and you don't want to endanger your heath with stimulants that other similar supplements have, then it's the only way to go! I gave it four stars and not five for two reasons. Firstly for the taste which is too artificial for me. (Are you call that vanilla?). Secondly I agree to other reviews that indeed you must use great amounts of this stuff to work but as I said before is the only naturally and clean way to go.
