You really can't go wrong with these gems! :-)
This is a pretty set of colored pencils, generally offered at a great price compared to your local art store. While I love supporting the mom and pops, some of which will give regulars bargain prices, places like Michaels will charge you full price when you can often get these sets for 50% off from Amazon. And sometimes you just have to budget. I got this set for about $14 with prime. Great deal!! You can get a great deal too. Keep your eyes peeled especially at the holidays. About this set: This is typical Prismacolor Premier quality. The pencils lay vibrant color that can be layered, built up and blended. The colors are all very "pretty" in that aside from the browns, nothing is muddy. You will find no sharps or flats in this song! The colors are somewhat eraser friendly depending on color and paper type. The box isn't as lovely as the tin some sets come in but it's functional enough. I haven't had any issues with breakage. I use a Prismacolor sharpener and I've never had a problem over the past 20ish years with this brand. Though if I did I would definitely try the quick oven fix... Prismacolor pencils are pricey but worth it! Word to the wise-- these pencils lay down c color great because they are soft. With use they can be, well, used up somewhat quickly. Detail work may also require more sharpening keep the needed point, though turning the pencil while using can spare some waste. If you really need more detail and a long lasting pencil try the Verithin line from Prismacolor, a few of which are include in this set. Though I've yet to see an exact match in colors to this set in that line. All in all- enthusiastically recommended! I love them as a hobbyist, and know many pros who love them, too. After an art hiatus I got some sets (including this one) for myself and also my mother for Christmas. We both got into the adult coloring thing and I am so excited for her to try Prismacolor! Hope this helps! Enjoy your goodies or gift-giving!

Great sketch pencils!
My teenage foster son loves drawing with this set. Its easy to put in a pencil bag with a small sketchbook or few folded up pieces of art paper to take on the go!

A Quality set of color pencil
A wide variety of colors. A good quality for their price, and they feel good against any kind of paper. Plus they are easy to use

Good Color and Blending Capability
My granddaughter does monga art and was thrilled to get this as a birthday gift. The pencils have a soft texture that makes them easily to blend. She says they're the best colored pencils she's used so far. They do break under pressure and retain their color on vellum more so than plain paper. She's asked for another set as a Christmas gift.

Very saturated bright colors
18 soft core oily pencils in brights, plus a brown, white and black, and five Verithin harder pencils that sharpen to a finer line in neutrals (black, brown, burgundy, grey and indigo.) The colors are more saturated and they lay down very buttery. The lighter pinks and peach and yellows let you get some glowing flesh tones if you want light ones. For dark skin tones, you'd be using the brown and red with some of the bright teal possbly for a high reflection There is a lot of crumbing up even with few layers. If you've used Prismacolors before, no surprise. The box is not a metal box, it's thin cardboard that opens to an easel-style holder. I like the easel holder but putting the pencils away is a bit annoying and the box is too thin cardboard. The pencils were all shifted around in the box (which is not good for them, cores can break when you go to sharpen if colored pencils are dropped or banged around.) However the color selection and density of color is really wonderful in this set. I'd mark off a point for the lousy box, but you might have your own storage method anyway (poking pencils into styrofoam repurposed from packing boxes is one way, and of course a pencil case or pencil cubby is another.)

Premier is great, Verithin good
The Premier colored pencils are really fantastic—creamy, apply smoothly, brilliant colors. Better than the Scholar line in application & color, and that's to be expected, as these are more expensive and not specifically aimed at students; they do break easier. A few of mine are broken inside from shipping (and they will be damaged if dropped on a hard surface), so I plan to put them in the oven awhile to melt them back together (recommended method from several artist sites). Prismacolor recommends putting them in the sun for a few hours, but I've found this to be insufficient to repair them. Would not recommend for children or klutzy people. =P The color selection for this set is very good, and with the addition of a blender pencil (bought separately) they're great. The Verithin are good, but not as dark as I would like—using them for outlining, I have to go over a line several times before it's really dark enough to compete with the Premier. Not too much of a complaint, though, as Premier wouldn't get that thin anyway without being even more brittle, and the Verithin work quite well for shading besides, because of their less-than-bold nature. The packaging is great, too, once I figured out how it works—I couldn't find directions anywhere, and ended up ripping the sides a bit before I finally got it. If anyone else has trouble: It's corrugated on the front, back, & sides. 1) Slip the inside of the box—a sort of pencil tray, including the solid bottom of the box, not the tab in the middle—out, 2) Fold the corrugations and disconnect the front & side corrugations, 3) Fold the top half of the box back on the back corrugation, so it props up the bottom half of the box, 4) Slide the pencil tray back into the bottom half. Works quite marvelously, once I figured it out. ;)
