Moll Flanders [DVD]

I watched without expectations, I really just wanted to see how the movie unfolded. I was not disappointed in the least. The actors were amazing, the scenery, the costume designs, everything was very very well done. I loved how believable they made it. It was nothing crazy, no far-fetched fiction, just every day people trying to find their place and worth in the world. Just as we do today. It just hits so much harder because of all the adversaries people had to overcome back then. Moll's character is such a beautiful one. She went through so much in life yet she never let herself truly go "dark". She spirit, though was low at times, always shun through. Truly a wonderful movie. Robin Wright is amazing.

I read the low reviews of the people who were expecting an adaptation of the book and did not get what they wanted and I guess I have to say if I was expecting it to be what they had wanted, I would have also been disappointed. But I did not read the book....I had no expectations and I simply loved the movie in it's own right. The actors were exceptional...the story a wonderful afternoon spent....and I have bought the dvd specifically so I can watch it whenever I want. I can't WAIT to gather a group of friends together to have a movie night! It was THAT good! Perhaps they should have sold it on the A-list actors alone and changed the name. But that is NO reason to give the movie such a low rating that people turn it down and not even give it a try. I have to put it right up in my top 5 favs of all time!

Morgan Freeman as great as ever. Love the story. No blood and guts!! A feel good movie that captures your attention and keeps it. If only Hollywood would make more like this.Well worth adding to your collection

Excellent movie

I loved the characters and effortless dialogue and that it wasn't true to the book. Every scene was eye candy - from the hay on the back of the carriage to feed the horse when necessary and the lighting in the artist's studio. Robin Wright was more beautiful in every scene, Stockard Channing, always a pleasure to watch, and best of all, yes Morgan Freeman could read me the telephone book and I would be fascinated. The ending was very satisfying.

Though the movie seems to drag along at times, it is well worth watching. Excellent cast.

This film is rich in so many ways, the actors, wonderful cinematography, costumes, details so true to life in this era. We have the heroine, evil and good, love, art, compassion (and the lack of it). Watching this pulls one in to Moll's light, anquish, heartbreak, and spirit of survival. A terrific love story too! And yes, God is love! This one is a gem.

This is an older movie, but it has some big names in it. Stockard Channing (Rizzo in Grease) and Morgan Freeman are the biggest. It's based on a novel, and does a brilliant job of adapting a classic into a story even one such as my husband who might read a comic and wouldn't look once at a classic can enjoy. I cry at the end every time :) But it's a great story, vivid characters, and a good watch
