Forney 57012 Lens Replacement Hardened Glass, 4-1/4-Inch-by-2-Inch, Shade-12

Unfortunately, this review will be far too late for most who might be interested in using it as I did. Few if any regular (fixed tinted) welding helmets are dark enough for viewing the sun. However, I was able to add this to mine and make it dark enough to watch the recent eclipse. I also had some cheap mylar glasses which were very inconsistent and sometimes too dark to see anything.

Miniature glass.I did not expected it to be that small should've mesure first(my bad).Just keep that in mind if you look into it. It is really really small.

I bought this as a backup in case my Auto Dark Filter ever goes out on me. The clarity is great, the shade is the perfect tint, but it IS glass, so you need to do your due diligence and wear a clear plastic lens on both sides of this filter, both front and back. If you run a glass filter without clear lenses, it could shatter and send glass into your eyes if a piece of debris hits it, or if you're welding when it's cold outside and molten slag touches it.

Great lens, I'm using shade 11 and weld anything from hand rail with an sp to structural with 232. It's a good lens that i would recommended as well as purchase again.
