Amazing and almost immediate results! No more vomiting.
My now 10 year old black cat started vomiting a few years back. Mostly large hairballs but sometimes right after a meal, barfing up all his dinner. His barfing became more frequent as time went on, sometimes everyday. I had already tried some OTC hairball remedy and it had not helped. I mentioned his vomiting to my veterinarian. She said 'well, he's not losing weight and all his vitals are good and his blood work is normal. Let's try giving him some OTC hairball remedy'. I had already done that-- but tried again, purchasing a 'better' more expensive product. Didn't work. I should mention that I had already taken him off dry food, wet food only. Then I put him (and my other 3 cats) on grain-free wet food. That seemed to help a bit. Then about 2 years ago I became a full time pet sitter -- sitting exclusively for cats. And because competition in my area is fierce I knew I had to be the best I could be -- and that meant being informed. I bought and read books on cat behavior and cat nutrition. Every book I read - whether it was about cat behavior, introducing a new cat into a multi-cat home, treating cat health issues with natural products -- they all had some sort of information about cat nutrition. And the books written specifically about cat nutrition went into depth about IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). I won't go into all the info on the subject of IBD but in short, what I learned was eye-opening. From then on I was on a mission to help my cat. First thing I did was buy some Egg Yolk Lecithin which helps to break down hairballs. I sprinkled half a capsule on every meal. This helped much more than the OTC greasy hairball remedy. His barfing went from frequent to just 1 or 2 times a week. He started to feel better, he became more playful. But I kept reading and learning. Then one day a client and I were talking about her cat's runny poop and my cat's barfing. She said "you have to get some probiotic. It really works." That evening I logged on to Amazon and searched for cat probiotic. After reading reviews and reading labels, I chose to order Pet Ultimates Probiotics for Cats. I wanted the best for my cat - something that would work 100%. As soon as I got this product in the mail, I started adding it to Booger's food. (that's my black cat's name, Booger !) The results were almost IMMEDIATE. Within 2 days, NO more barfing. I was happy and at the same time surprised. Why didn't I try this a long time ago? Why didn't my vet tell me to buy some probiotic for my suffering kitty? After a few weeks, Booger's personality changed... for the better. He no longer slept on the floor under the dining room table, he no longer slept most of the day. He was out and about, sleeping on the carpeted stairs, sleeping on one of my 3 cat trees, playing with cat mice and asking for back scratches. Just like people, some cats need some help with regard to their digestive system. While I am not a vet, not a vet tech and not in anyway in the medical profession, I do urge cat owners (and my clients) to try this probiotic before your Vet puts kitty on an expensive gastrointestinal diet. Just as an example, I have one client that has a cat with constant diarrhea and her Vet put her kitty on the expensive gastrointestinal food....and kitty has not improved, she still has the runs. I owe my cat's much improved health to Pet Ultimates Probiotics for Cats. I will always have this product for him because it works!! And I forgot to mention that this company contacted me personally to inquire about my cat's health. In fact, the company owner and I emailed each other on several occasions. This to me says they really care. Customer service too is 5 star!! Thanks to everyone for reading my book-length review. I hope it helps.

Helps recover from antibiotics
My cat Jake got sick , vomiting daily and saw blood in stool. Vet put him on antibiotics for 3 weeks. He lost so much weight. I was genuinely worried I was going to lose him. 2 days after I stopped the antibiotics and reading tons about what I could do to help him recover. I started giving him these probiotics and the vomiting stopped. Now I’m just trying to get him to gain the weight back. He is getting better, especially since the vomiting has stopped. He does not flinch at the probiotics I put in his wet cat food. He is recovering now feeling better after a week. When he refused to eat his wet food he would vomit again. So I make sure he eats his probiotics every day. The vet helped get him through his infection but the probiotics is helping him recover.

Awesome product, highly recommended
We have a 16 year old cat that has had stomach problems. She would throw up for a couple of days, which we would then take her to a vet. Each time they would do a complete physical exam and several blood tests. Each and every time we got the same diagnosis - she is physically and on paper - healthy. (We even tried different vets, but always the same result.) This happened so many times a vet just gave us some nausea pills to give to her to get her through. (Yes, we thought it might be something wrong with the food, we checked with the company and they said there were no other complaints. We even tried different brands and flavors, she is an extremely picky eater.) Well we just went through another round of vomiting but this time she stop eating and drinking and of course it was on the weekend so we took her to an emergency vet . And once again, the vet does all the exams and blood tests then says "she's healthy, in fact her results are so good he would have thought she was a lot younger if he didn't know her age." He recommended a food that even picky eaters would eat. Yup, not our cat, another $40 of cat food down the drain. She was a Blue Buffalo Salmon pate and nothing else kitty. (We mix Blue Buffalo dry with Iam's dry food in a separate dish.) If we picked up the chunky one and not the pate, you guessed it, she would not eat it. Husband said let her starve, she will eat after a day or so. Nope, not her. She would leave the soft and just eat her dry food. Another thing, she has maintained her weight, an average of 9.5 pounds all her life. So when she is throwing up, not drinking and refuses to eat her favorite, I panic. My mom asked me if there were probiotics for cats, which I never even thought about. So I did some research and found PET Ultimates Probiotics for Cats. Yes, it's a little pricey but the 100% guarantee and the ingredients sold me. I ordered it and it arrived the next day! My cat hated it. No matter how I tried to hide it. Sprinkled on top, mixed in, sprinkled on dish then put food on top, rolled it in a little ball of cheese, nothing worked. Brad, with Pet Ultimates, (sent an e-mail the day after I got the product and later to check up) suggested to put it on her legs or mix it in a syringe with water. I opted to put it on her legs and let her lick it off. Worked like a charm. It took her about a week before we started seeing results, but let me tell you, she is a new cat! I didn't even realize how lethargic she had gotten! After 2 days, she started eating like a little piggy. A couple more days and she gained the pound back she had lost. Her coat looks great again (another thing we attributed to getting old - yup we were wrong.) And now, she is telling us long stories, probably giving us a lecture lol, and back to her annoying, sit on my computer keyboard, get in front of the tv, knocking stuff off the table, that we haven't seen in years self again. I don't know if anyone else has or will receive these results from this product, but I know that it worked for my kitty.

Works very well - for cats who will take it
Let me resolve the question of whether cats love the taste or not. We are a multi-cat household, and some like it, some don't, and some are indifferent. There you are: the ultimate truth about the taste of Ultimate Probiotic (LOL). I started by adding it to the food as directed, and while some ate it, others sniffed it and walked away. (CATS! Humph!) So, I've found the most reliable method of getting it into a cat is to mix it with baby food, or Fancy Feast, or chopped liver, draw it into a feeding syringe, and squirt it directly into their mouths. However, the one cat who needs it most in the house is a jumpy, semi-feral calico, "Matisse," rescued as a kitten 14 years ago. Very slowly, over time, she has become increasingly friendly, as she has realized my life is devoted to her happiness (she may have noticed that her feline roommates benefit, too; but, you know how self-centered cats are): keeping house, cleaning litter boxes, and ultimately, buying an outrageously expensive meat grinder to make all her food fresh, from scratch. Without any supplement, her stool is smelly liquid, near indistinguishable from her vomit. With Ultimate Probiotic, her stool is firm and she doesn't vomit. So, yes: Ult Pro does what it says it does. But getting it into Matisse is a challenge & a half. I've had some luck surprising her, scruffing her, and poking the syringe in her mouth. She seems disinclined to bite or scratch, but she is very silky and a very effective wiggler. Once she tastes it (in baby food, strained liver, or whatever substrate), she doesn't mind it, and swallows it. But she will not voluntarily eat food with the Ult Pro mixed in. And now, she is on the lookout for my surprise scruff attacks, so I haven't been able to catch her in a few days. So I've been spending a lot more time on the floor with her than usual, talking to her, singing to her, combing her, all to try to persuade her to tolerate the introduction of that syringe. I am hoping to avoid having to throw a blanket over her and burrito her into a cage to take her to the vet for a shot of long-acting Depo-Medrol, which will help resolve vomiting & diarrhea, but comes with a whole new set of problems. I was going to repurchase Ult Pro today, but then I thought I'd look for another product as well-liked, but with a more pleasing taste. I may buy FortiFlora for Matisse, and another unit of Ult Pro for the more agreeable felines of the fambly.

Would Say It Was A Disaster...
This review is the letter I sent to the company regarding my experience with their product and my final comments. Hello, My cat Toto has been struggling with diarrhea and loose stools for months. He is already on a 3rd different dry food (a prescription one) and nothing seems to be helping, so I decided to give your product a try. The day before yesterday, I gave the first dose of your product to my cat; it was no more than half a dose 1/16 of a teaspoon, and he ate it. The next day, he wasn’t acting right and didn’t want to eat. I was hoping it was only a hairball but couldn’t help but be concerned it might be due to the probiotic he was given the day before. Toto started to act better last night. Then, last night before getting ready for bed, I started cleaning out the litter boxes; there is a second cat in the house and four litter boxes altogether, and I was on the last one. The last litter box of the night was nestled under a cabinet with a curtain of fleece. When I pulled the curtain back it was the worst mess I had ever seen. There was 3 large areas of diarrhea on the mat the litter box sits on, more diarrhea on and in the litter box, and it got on the just changed clean fleece curtain, so rather than cleaning out the box and then getting ready for bed, I spent the next 15 minutes cleaning up a horrible mess; not a way to have sweet dreams. I have been desperate to help my cat get his diarrhea under control and could not believe what happened after giving him the first small dose of your product. It was more like he had eaten poison that made him sick, gave him the worse case of diarrhea I have ever witnessed and once it was out of his system he started feeling better. Can you please explain this? The company responded swiftly to my letter and issued an immediate refund. They did try to explain how this could have occurred and encouraged me to try other probiotics to find one that would work for my cat. They are company that seems to care, but my experience with their product is a cautionary tale. For those who try this probiotic, I would recommend using a very small amount to start with; less than 1/16 of a teaspoon and see how it goes. I ended up purchasing a different probiotic that although it might not have solved his diarrhea problem did not cause to him to fall ill or worsen it.

Our 3 picky cats LOVE this stuff!
Our cats all LOVE this stuff! I am an independent reviewer who has not received any monetary compensation or any of this product in return for my review. We have 3 cats: Two senior lady cats (one 14-year-old and one 12-year-old), and one 2-year-old energetic male, all very different in personality but all good eaters and all very healthy. So healthy, in fact, that our vet always MARVELS at how soft, thick, and shiny their coats are and how good their teeth are! This is because we feed them the best grain-free, high-protein food we can find. We do our research, and we read labels. So we are not looking to change our food, but we are very interested in finding a safe, top-quality probiotic to add to their diets because the 2 ladycats are chronic barfers (onto our rented condo's wall-to-wall, off-white carpeting). Their annual physical exams, including bloodwork, always show them to be in good health, so we're pretty convinced that they just need a little help with digestion. A good probiotic. And therein, we thought, lies the problem. Our cats all love their food, but so far any time we have tried to introduce a supplement, we have seen the same thing: Three cats walking away from untouched dinners. We are old enough to have gone through decades of pendulum-swinging on the dry-food-only versus wet-food-only debates. We see the merits in both, and we think that a varied diet makes the most sense. The dry food keeps their teeth healthy, and the wet (canned) food gives them extra moisture in their diet. We give them each 3 small meals per day, we discard any uneaten food, and each meal is served in 3 clean bowls, 1 for each cat. (Yes, that's 9 cat bowls--not including the water bowls--to clean per day.) So we don't think that the barfing has anything to do with improper food handling. For breakfast and bedtime snack, we serve 1/4 cup of dry food split between their 3 bowls. For the meal in between (dinner), we serve 1/6 can of wet (canned) food into each of their 3 bowls. It amounts to just about a heaping tablespoon each, but they always look forward to it. Wet food is the best way to introduce a supplement, but even then, it's tricky with our cats, so I have to do it very gradually. With this PETUltimates probiotic, I added the tiniest, imperceptible pinch to the wet food in each of their 3 dishes, and I stirred it up until it looked undetectable. I expected them to discover it and turn up their little noses, but they all lapped it up with gusto! (In fact, it seemed to me that their bowls were all licked unusually clean.) So far, so good, I thought. So after every few days I started upping the dose until I reached the full-scoop dose into each bowl. Success! They LOVE this stuff! My only worry is that I read one customer question (which was really more of a statement than a question) stating that PETUltimates is really only used for appetite enhancement (well, appetites certainly have been enhanced in our cats!), but that for probiotics, FortiFlora (by Purina) is being used now. I hope that this is NOT the case, and that PETUltimates can be used as our cats' complete probiotic supplement because: 1. Our cats LOVE this stuff, so if it's a complete probiotic, I think we're home free! Why mess with success? 2. PETUltimates lists a number (20) of strains of different probiotics, whereas I see only 1 probiotic strain (Enterococcus faecium) in the FortiFlora ingredient list. I just googled Enterococcus faecium, and although it can be used for probiotics, it can also cause meningitis and endocarditis. I went back and looked at PETUltimates' ingredient list and was glad to find that they didn't use Enterococcus faecium. 3. Purina's FortiFlora's first ingredient (and ingredients are listed starting with the highest amount to the lowest amount) was something I thought looked questionable: "Animal digest," so I googled it. (I think you should google it, too, and see for yourself!) Check out one of the links I found: [...] (I told you, we do our research, and we read labels.) If you look it up, you will see that "animal digest" contains euthanized animals! 4. PETUltimates is all USA produced in a GMP-certified facility (I looked that up, too). Since we lost a very sweet cat to the 2007 China cat-food-ingredient debacle, we have been extra careful about doing our research and reading labels. Our cats are indoor cats, so they have no choice but to eat what we provide for them, so it's our responsibility to make sure that not only are we NOT feeding them tainted ingredients (or euthanized animals!), but, also, we are finding the best possible food for them to eat. I think that the fact that our vet always comments on how beautiful and healthy their coats and teeth are (even in our 14-year-old cat who looks and acts like a 2-year-old) is a good validation that we are being good providers for our cats. Which is only fair, considering that they provide us with daily purring, entertainment, and unconditional love.

Didn't work for us
My cat has IBD & pancreatitis and takes prednisolone (steroid) for these issues but his condition worsened about 4 months ago and he developed severe diarrhea. Our vet prescribed metronidazole to no avail and his blood work/stool samples came back normal (except for pancreatitis, which we already know he has). We tried probiotics: FortiFlora, Synacore, Wholistic Digest-All, and Pet Ultimates Probiotics For Cats. Each of these products improved his diarrhea slightly but ONLY for the first few days and the severe diarrhea came right back. Those products might work for animals with less severe issues, who knows. Adding pumpkin to his food did nothing either. 1 1/2 weeks ago we took him to a different vet and he prescribed Proviable-Forte. Like a miracle, the diarrhea stopped in a couple days and has not come back! My cat has been gaining back weight and is visibly happier & healthier. Proviable has products that you can buy online but I never tried them so can't speak to their effectiveness. Proviable-Forte can only be obtained by prescription so if you have a dog or cat suffering from severe diarrhea you should definitely try it. It comes in a capsule or paste but apparently the paste has to be refrigerated and is not so easy to administer so I opted for the capsules. I open the capsule and mix the contents with water and give it to my cat via dropper. Speaking of water, we also give our cat fluids at home which is necessary for animals with severe diarrhea. We've tried many foods too and finally settled on Hills I/D both dry & canned. It didn't help the diarrhea but it seems to help with his indigestion and he also likes it. I just wanted to share this because my cat would not have lasted another week if I hadn't stumbled onto Proviable-Forte through my 2nd opinion vet. Best of luck :)

but I still wanted to have a good pro-biotic as they strictly live indoors and may not ...
My kitties rarely have diarrhea, but I still wanted to have a good pro-biotic as they strictly live indoors and may not be exposed to much natural bacteria. I have read quite a bit of new research and news about the impact and importance of good gut flora/bacteria in both humans and animals so I felt it might be beneficial to supplement their diet with this product. I liked that it has multiple strains instead of one or two in the other products I was using previously and that it was made in the USA as I no longer trust treats or supplements from non-western countries & unknown sources. While I would not recommend doing this, I actually took it myself for a few days to make damned certain it was not going to have adverse affects in myself before giving it to my kitties! I'm glad to report it works well in both species it seems. While none of us have diarrhea, I did notice a slight decrease in volume, better consistency, slightly softer stools, and a decrease in odors. I've used it for over a month now and all are fine. My kitties are not very fond of the taste, but will eat dry food sprinkled with it after a little turning up of their noses at first. In wet food or with a little flavoring on, they just devour it. I have a kitty with chronic constipation and I mix some of this with a little Miralax (always check with your Vet first please!) and 5cc of water then sprinkle a little Forti-Feline (he loves that 'animal digest' junk flavor so I use just a pinch of it) and he laps it up in a few seconds before eating his regular food. So far this has had excellent results for him. I believe I will be reordering and using this product as it seems to be doing the trick for them with no adverse effects and all of them have good coats & lots of energy. I think they have actually been a bit more active than usual the last few weeks. They are happy, so I am very happy! It is a little expensive, but you get a lot for your money and I think it is of excellent quality and value so I will reorder when I run out and can recommend it to pet companions looking for a good pro-biotic for their furry feline friends!
