Bought this four years ago so my mom could turn off her Christmas lights without going outside and it’s still going strong. Has been outside for 4 years straight. At some point it got disconnected from the app and it was easy for us to reconnect it. Mom just has to say “Alexa, turn off the lights” and the lights are off! Very cool.

These are fantastic. They feel substantial and are easy to connect, as long as you use a 2.4GHz signal. If you only have 5GHz, you can go into your router control panel and shift it to 2.4 and then the VeSync software will connect you. Gemini says that most 5G routers support 2.4G simultaneously.

When this order arrives I will have 7 Outdoor Smart Plugs. I am very impressed with the ease of install and the overall connection. I also have 18 Indoor Smart Plugs. It is fun to set each device knowing they will work as instructed. I highly recommend this company. Let me add I have contacted Etekcity (APP: VySync) with a minor issue. I purchased this with my primary goal of being able to monitor the power usage of a pool pump, because I was curious what it was actually costing to run, as well as a plan to set a schedule and monitor power usage of outdoor lighting in the holidays. I haven't tested it for the latter, but it has been in use for about 2 months with the pool pump. The setup was easy, the app is decent, and I haven't had any issues with connectivity. The few times I've used it to toggle the pump and on and off, it has been very quick to trigger the action and without any problems. I appreciate that this has dual outlets which are separately controllable (I'm only using one right now, but when it's holiday light time, I will appreciate the option to control circuits on separate timers.) My main purpose for this was to monitor power usage. In the app, it does indeed show real-time power draw in volts and wattage, and there are limited graphs to see usage over time. However, this is the main source of complaint that I have - The ability to look back at data is very limited. For example, you can toggle between a "weekly", "monthly", and "yearly" view, but within each of those, you can not scroll backwards in time. So if I want to see a weekly graph for last week, that is not an option. Same goes if I want to compare one month to another - There's no way to scroll through months. I do appreciate the option to add in a cost per kWH so it can display usage not just in kWH, but in actual monetary limits, but finding this feature was not intuitive. There is an option to turn an outlet off after a certain dollar value of spend has been reached, but what about an option to simply send a notification if parameters are met, without turning off a device? In my case, I can see that the power usage on my pool pump drops drastically over a 1-2 day span if the filter is getting clogged or dirty, and otherwise remains very stable when it is clean, so an option to send an alert if it falls outside a set range but keep it running would be nice. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. As this is monitored as an "energy monitoring" device, I wish there were more features related to the actual energy monitoring, since it seems to be mainly a smart outlet that happens to record minimal usage data. However, it's providing enough to suit my purpose so I've kept it in use.

For years I have been using timers for my outdoor fountain and tree lights. They did the job but anytime I would need to change a setting, I would have to usually unplug it, bring it inside where I can see the tiny switches or numbers and then take it back outside. I’ve been using wifi outlets inside my home for several years now and have them on an easy to set up schedule. It never really crossed my mind that there could be an outdoor wifi outlet with 2 plugs. And then I stumbled across the Etekcity outdoor smart plug and thought I’d give it a shot. The setup was fairly simple. I’ve set up many of my indoor smart plugs so I was already familiar with the process. Even so, I had some minor difficulties getting this one going. Whenever I attempted to have it search for my wifi, I would get a “timed out” message. I was less than 10 feet from my wifi hub. After restarting the app, and maybe 10 tries later, I finally got it connected. I created 2 schedules. One for each plug. The process is similar to other wifi plugs with some minor differences but you can usually figure them out. Once I got the schedules set up, I waited to see if they worked. And so far it has worked flawlessly. Best of all, I can control everything from my phone which is very very convenient. I love this smart plug and would highly recommend it.

I bought this outdoor outlet because the Etekcity indoor outlets and light switches we've had for several years have worked flawlessly. I don't know why Amazon no longer sells the single indoor outlets. We love those things and DO NOT WANT to buy other brands that require different, less capable apps. The VeSync phone app is great, allowing you to control the outlets and switches based on: Day or Days Time of Day Time of Day +/- 30 minutes (random) XX minutes before and after sunrise and sunset. You couldn't ask for more versatility. These schedules are programed into the devices themselves, not your phone, so they run 24/7. And you can monitor (or modify) them from anywhere you have an Internet connection. My only complaints: This outdoor device dangles from a standard height wall outlet by a very short cord. The weight of the device could easily pull it out of an older, worn outlet. It would be nice if it were 6"-12" longer. In my case, I'll plug it into a short extension cord. And this complaint is minor: If I turn a device on or off using my phone app, the device responds immediately! However, if it’s turned on or off by another phone or by pressing the device’s on/off switch, it takes 15-25 seconds to display the change on my phone app. This is true for all outlets and light switches I have. I do have to say I've only noticed this while doing setup or testing. This outlet get 4 stars because of the short cord length.

This works even better than I expected. It did take a few minutes to set up after I realized I missed reading part of the instructions it was quite simple. I like how easy the app is to use even during times when timer is off can still control lights to turn on as well as the other way around

Bought to replace a defective remote. Paired with my plugs perfectly. Bought the system about 2.5 years ago , has worked great. The original set had 2 remotes, one malfunctioned, needed a 2nd one. I love it, would buy again!

Plug in your device and then turn it on and off with the remote, nothing could be easier! Two second set up time LOL!

I bought one for the cottage last year and it worked so well that I bought one for the house this year. I love the way you can control each outlet separately to have them turn on and off at different times, that’s a must if you have to plug in two vehicles block heaters. Also being able to control them at will using the app is very convenient. Setup was easy. My only complaint is that you can’t choose to calculate your electricity costs in CAD. You have to convert from USD. But that’s not a show stopper. Highly recommend this timer.
