Still Glowing After 8 Years
This tape isn’t as bright as others but it’s perfect for spotting doors and furniture on late night bathroom runs. Brighter tape would be too conspicuous for my needs. Best of all, the tape is still glowing after being in place for eight years.

4 types of glow tape compared, “Docooler” is #1
I reviewed four types of glow tape sold here on Amazon, here are the results with photos:I found “Docooler” to be the best in brightness, duration, and cost. However, JVCC was the worst. All tapes did glow for at least 6 hours, but the intensity of glow after 6 hours varied greatly. I have photos of right after turning off the lights, 10 minutes after, and 20 minutes after. I will post a “6-hours” after photo later, but someone turned on the lights before I woke up and charged the tapes so I can’t give you an accurate photo right now.(6-HOUR UPDATE): All the test samples were glowing after six hours of being left in relative pitch darkness. However, my camera is not sensitive enough to record the image of the glow. With the naked eye, however, the glow can certainly be seen. The relative strengths of the six-hour glows are about the same as shown in the “20 minutes later” photo. Though of course the glow is fainter than what is shown in the “20 minute” photo, in a pitch-black emergency situation, all the tapes would be visible.)“JVCC” found here: JVCC GLW Glow in the Dark Tape: 1/2 in. x 30 ft. (Luminescent Lime Green) : COST:$10.63 for 30 feet (as of March 2016); GLOW RANK (1 to 4 scale, 1 is best and 4 is the worst): 4 = worst glow duration, worst brightness; ADHESIVE: It initially slipped off of some steps that had varnish on them, but if left in place for a while, it will adhere. Not the best adhesive of the four tested. CONCLUSIONS: This tape will glow for at least 6 hours (as all tapes tested did), however the 6 hour glow is very faint and can only be seen if it is pitch black which is enough if you are in a total darkness situation. This tape cost the most of the tapes tested, but performed the worst. It does work though. Tape took about 8 days to reach me after ordering.“DOCOOLER” found here: Docooler Glow in the Dark Tape Premium Luminous Green Sheet Sticker Film for Warning Labels 3"*8" ¡ : COST:$3.98 for 3.5 feet (as of March 2016); GLOW RANK (1 to 4 scale): 1 = best glow duration, best brightness; ADHESIVE: Adhesive is very strong. CONCLUSIONS: This tape is cut in the size of a large U.S. dollar bill. It was the BEST in terms of brightness. In fact, you could read by its light, almost like the glow of a smart phone. The tape was the thickest of the four and would work well for any emergency application. It had the longest duration of glow and the brightest duration. I liked this one the best and it seems to be the most cost effective as well. Tape took about 2 weeks to reach me after ordering. “URPARCEL” found here: Urparcel Luminous Tape Glow In The Dark Stage Home Decoration 10mm : COST:$3.97 for 30 feet (as of March 2016); GLOW RANK (1 to 4 scale): 3 = so-so glow duration; ADHESIVE: Adhesive is very strong. CONCLUSIONS: This tape is thin in width and thickness, almost like a film. However, it glows better than JVCC so cost wise, you are better with this tape if you need a lot of length. Note, this product ships from China and took almost a month to reach me after ordering.“KING” found here: KING DO WAY PET Luminous Green Tape Self-adhesive Warning Strip Glow In Dark Home Office Party Stage Switch Decor 12MMx3M : COST:$3.69 for 10 feet (as of March 2016); GLOW RANK (1 to 4 scale): 2 = good glow duration; ADHESIVE: Adhesive is very strong. CONCLUSIONS: This tape is thin in thickness, but wider than URPARCEL. KING and URPARCEL seem to be from the same company, however the KING “brand” glowed brighter. Tape took about three weeks to reach me after ordering.

Good inside dark rooms (if tape is charged by sunlight)
I first decided to buy this to place on my helmet and bicycle to help my visibility during my night rides (and after seeing the blackberry commercial it just looked awesome), however, the moonlight makes this thing look like a candle in the sun. I then saw a video posted for it and it looked very bright and thought that I wasn't charging it correctly so I left the taped items in direct sunlight (rotating them every 15 minutes to take the suns rotation and shaded sides into account) and then rode my bike at night but still no luck, however, when I bought the bike into my dark garage before turning on the lights, it did give a pretty decent glow.I give this 4 stars because they suggest to use this on staircases in case of an emergency situation (such as a power outage) but I don't think artificial light will be enough to charge this tape. I think this tape needs sunlight to charge it fully and give it it's full brightness.TLDR: Great for indoor use (as long as whatever you tape can be "moved") but poor for outdoor use.

Wonderful Product
This glow-in-the-dark tape is the best! I spend summers camping in a trailer in a non-electical campsite and believe me, it gets very dark at night.Seeing our way to the bathroom without turning on any lights and waking up the rest of the family was always an issue until now.I cut up the tape and in dotted line fashion the bathroom doorway and everything else necessary for someone to use the bathroom without lights was marked. I didn't use huge pieces of tape and there was a fair amount of space in between pieces of tape. So, I had lots of tape left over for flashlights, and putting on the light switches in case we really need to turn on our lights. The glow was brighter than I was expecting and not a lot of light was needed to re-charge the tape, as our trailer is in a fairly shady spot and the tape did not receive any direct sunlight. Also, the tape glows all night. After a few months, the tape is still sticking well and looks just the same as when I first put it up. Love it!

Not as bright as expected
Not as bright as I expected. I have this tape wrapped around a pole, from the bottom to the top in order to show the beginning point of a driveway at night. It sits outside all day in extensive sunlight, but I can barely see the illumination at night. However, I placed some inside my RV near the door and other emergency access areas, and I can see the glowing green color a lot better, so it appears that this works best when its pitch black, with no moonlight or starlight at all. Like being in the middle of the woods dark. Any subtle light at all will render this luminescent tape useless. So, if your application will be used in a completely pitch black location this will work just fine, but that area will need light during the day to charge the tape. So, like a stairwell in an office building would be an ideal place to use this tape for example.

This IS the bright and long lasting strontium aluminate based stuff
When I first looked at this products claims regarding its glow longevity, I assumed it was the dimmer, short-lived zinc-sulfide based material. Upon further testing, I see that it is actually the bright and long-lasting strontium aluminate based material. The same company sells a longer lasting (24 hour) product as well (for a higher price), but I assume its just a higher concentrate. The tape is very durable and the adhesive is good as well. It isn't as flexible as electrical tape, but can wrap around items without issue. I tested this product next to high-end strontium aluminate based paint and found this tape to be equally bright at least in the short term. This stuff glows very evenly after exposed to light which is an advantage as compared with some glow in the dark paints.

Really not very bright at all. Even with thorough exposure to light beforehand, glow is very dim and only visible in pitch black, no use for low light visibility.
