Effective just one side
I think it's okay because you can effectively grate root vegetables, and potatoes in just two sides only. The first good side: I grate carrots, beets, turnips often.. so the side that shows in the image is the most effective for me. The lengthy slices from this side of the grater are fairly broad.. if you want thinner long slices the other sides are not of much use. For the root veggies I make, this one is better than having no grater for me.The second good side: This is not for lengthy strips but broader strips (for potato chips kind). It's decent. The remaining two sides: I don't use the rest of the two sides. The cuts on the grater look too uneven, and I can't imagine anything would even grate properly on these sides.. I did try once, it hardly did the job. I have not grated cheese in this one yet, may be the sides I don't use could help cheese grating.I suggest if you want to invest in a good grater with all sides working, don't invest in this one. This is for those who want to buy a cheaper option but working just to grate daily salad or boil-cooking grated veggies. It's sharp anyhow.. have cut my fingers a couple of times (well, call me careless, it is not the grater's fault! It's supposed to be sharp! :) ) Have fun cooking!

So glad I have one of my own
Love it. My mom had one, my grandma had one, and I knew I wanted one when I got married. I decided to go with this grater, because it has the multiple sides. I have a food processor that can grate large amounts of cheese, so I don't plan on using this for grating large blocks--I'm still scarred from too many childhood memories trying to grip that thing in one hand and the cheese in the other...This is perfect for zesting and grating for each meal without having to keep multiple one-purpose items around (ie a zester) The varied sizes make sure that you are getting what you need, and it is a sturdy piece that you can wash by hand or in the dishwasher, depending on what you use it for.

Works fine
I bought this for pizza night. We make 5 cookie sheet pizzas at a time, so we need to grate a lot of cheese at once. (I like to fresh grate it. It tastes better. The pre-grated stuff has stuff on it to keep it from clumping.) Anyway, I had one cheese grater and bought this so two can be grating cheese at once. It works fine, but I noticed it is more cheaply made than my old one. The corners are not as crisp. It doesn't really matter in performance, but it is always a bummer to see a decline in the quality of products.

Good Grater, but Atypical
This is a good quality grater, but one thing about it surprised me. Most graters have 2 sets of regular grating holes (the ones that are most visible on the picture) - one larger and one small. This grater however only has the large set, and then 2 sides of the tiny hole graters (as visible on the side in the photograph). This is a little disappointing as the small regular grating holes tend to be most useful for some vegetables and fruit.Otherwise however this is a high quality product and perhaps simply a better description, or more photographs would help in eliminating the confusion.

Does what it says on the indestructible, metal box
My wife and I were in the market for a new grater after the plastic side-paneling on our last one disintegrated. We were tempted by the ergonomic, fancy graters with the little attachable cup for capturing your shavings and all that fine noise, but were worried about them falling apart in no time. So instead we went with the classic, all stainless steel, impale yourself on the corners, slip while grating and shred your entire arm off model and we couldn't be happier.Quality is hard to come by these days, and it seems that things are designed to fall apart after a few years. It's nice to find something that will withstand a planetary collision.

Just what I wanted
Often the "old" style of items is still the best. I've tried other flat graters and gadgets, but this style still works the best. The variety of holes eliminates the need for other devices. The ones of this type with "padded" handles are more comfortable, but the plastic part cannot hold up to bearing down when you grate hard cheese etc. It's just a matter of time until they break. The old metal style like this will hold up much longer. If you find the unpadded handle uncomfortable for big grating jobs, just wrap a oven mitt or something around it to cushion your hand.

Solid for the price
This grater is a solid product for the price and been through many dishwasher cycles to prove it. I wish it had a different grating pattern instead of 2 vegetable zest patterns not shown in the picture.

Absolutely Worth It
The price is great and the product works perfectly. It's not a miniature. Full size and I grate varieties of cheese almost daily. Epic grilled cheeses with shredded mozarella, swiss, parmesian, romano, etc. Really works out. It has been some time since I used a cheese grater, so watch your knuckles -- this one is sharp enough to scrape the skin. Also - Have you even cut an onion using a cheese grater? It's awesome!
