Milder than expected but good
First off—if you don't know what salty licorice is, don't get this. It's not the same as normal licorice! Now that's out of the way, this is quite an interesting salmiak candy. It's a hard candy that starts off with a very smooth, sweet licorice flavor, and as it dissolves, little hits of salmiak punctuate the sweetness. It gets reasonably salty, but only for brief periods. The black pepper isn't so much hot as warm—it was an unexpectedly subtle back note that added a nice extra dimension without distracting from the salmiak and licorice. In terms of salmiak flavor, it's not as strong as the Dutch style sweets I'm more accustomed to, like Venco Dubbelzout, but Tyrkisk Peber is definitely a more complex experience that I'd highly recommend for fans of salty licorice. Update April 7 2019: I couldn't quite put my finger in it in the initial review, but it actually does taste like something else familiar to me: it's similar to Chinese style salted licorice dried plums. The Chinese plums I'm thinking of come in a little clear plastic box, and use normal sodium chloride salt rather than ammonium chloride, so Tyrkisk Peber has a slightly different saltiness to it, but there's definitely a similarity there.

Amazing!
I saw these advertised on the Beyond The Press youtube channel, and I've always loved licorice. I've had Danish salted licorice before, so I was quite confident that I would enjoy the flavor. But there's an extra little spiciness on the back of your tongue that's so unique and delicious, I'm obsessed. I already ordered another bag of these plus a bag of their "Megahot" variety for myself, and I ordered another one to send to my mom's house. She also loves licorice. Thanks for the quick shipping, nice little note in the bag, and delicious licorice. I ate the whole bag in 2 days lol

Great candy from Europe
I liked how fresh the candy was and it was straight from Europe.

SO much fun to try!
Ordered this because it was basically on a loved one's Christmas list. So, when it got here we all had to try it (yes, I inherited my adventurous tastebuds from my dad and passed them along to my progeny.) So here is the verdict: #1 adult offspring: loves licorice, adores this candy! #2 adult offspring: hates licorice but finds this candy very intriguing but not intriguing enough to eat it. #3 adult offspring: would rather eat poop. #4 me: hates licorice but can also understand the appeal and possibly if it didn't leave a phantom taste in my mouth for hours on end that while not making me sick was interacting with a bout of nausea I was having, would probably try it again at some point. As it is I'm perfectly happy to leave it with the one who loves it.

Delicious!
I love, love, love this stuff. Too bad I only bought one bag of it. Makes me want to hoard it instead of devour it. This is flavorful fun. It's like a battle for your taste buds between the licorice and the salmiak. Starts out with a very pleasant licorice taste, then from time to time you'll swallow, and feel and taste the ammonium chloride. A slightly spicy, lightly salty sensation. Makes your mouth water in a good way. I just move the candy shell quickly back and forth across my tongue being careful not to let it scrape the roof of my mouth. At the right moment, I bite into it and the shell breaks apart and releases the remaining salt in one go. I'm smiling by this point.

Great stuff, but melted in the package
Considering where this was coming from, and how niche of a product it usually is, I expected some difficulty shipping to the United States, once it arrived, the package was in fine condition but heat from one source or another ended up melting all of the candies together—not a big deal all things considered, and most of them were still intact after I broke off piece by piece, rarely having any break open on me. In short, the melted candies didn't distract much from the product, and the ease of shipping it to me, even if it took a long to get here. I am quite satisfied with my product. Kiitos!

A one time girlfriend from Finland introduced me to "salmiakki" some years ago and I was thrilled to see them on Amazon as none of my local stores stock much in the way of offensively strong-tasting liquorice. They're quite sweet, a little spicy and unusually salty right from the off, with a lull of false security as you get into the boiled sweet stage, and a strong finish as you melt a little hole and break into the powdered nuclear waste in the centre. To Finns these are a harmless little between-meals treat but to the soft, vanilla palate of an unwary English consumer they might as well be a Scotch Bonnet stuffed with broken glass and battery acid. I recall in about 2009 my colleague loudly proclaiming that "there's no such thing as not liking a flavour; if you try something once a day for ten days you'll come to like it." Fazer's Turkish Pepper was the sweet that took this hypothesis and gave it a humiliating kerb stomping. Fair play, he made it to twelve but then retired, a wiser but broken man. I currently work with an imposing, 100kg man with a bristling beard who prides himself on being quite adventurous in the food stakes. In my first month on the job he offered to buy me lunch and, like a fool, I accepted. The next day he came to my desk proffering a packet of ramen noodles with an illustration on the front of a chicken breathing curdled black flames. And let me tell you, if anything this image under sold the raw power of those bad boys. I finished the noodles, if not the sauce, because my machismo stops short of actual suicide, but my mouth did not thank me for it and I swore a brutal revenge. So you can imagine my excitement to see Fazer's pop up in my Amazon feed last week. I immediately ordered a pack. This very morning, I innocently offered my generous co-worker a boiled sweet, which he accepted. "They're quite salty," I warned him, in the way that a scout returning to Sparta might have said, "there are one or two Persians coming over that hill." But whereas Gerard Butler may have stripped topless, screamed a rallying call and murdered someone, you can imagine my intense pleasure when the Bearded One retched and accidentally bit the sweet in half, releasing too early the second wave of spicy, salty horror, and immediately spat the whole mess in a bin. A+++ would get revenge on a colleague again any time.

I was concerned the candy might not fare well since it is a hard candy coming a long way, but thy were very well packaged. I bought it as a gift and she assured me a few were broken, but no more than she would experience if she bought them off a shelf in Finland.

I love them so much. They are really hard to find in Australia. Not sure what else to write in the review except yum yum thanks

Very good to wake up your taste buds. Very enjoyable flavour until you hit the center, it can be very intense and almost gives you a burning sensation in your eyes. Eye watering but thats the point.
