Great bidet seat! So easy to use and install!
I’ve always loved going to some high end hotels and finding an electric bidet toilet. It makes cleaning up so much more thorough. I didn’t think I could have one since I didn’t have an electric outlet near any of my toilets. I had heard a commercial about attachments to existing toilet seats. When I researched them, they looked clunky and just ugly since they are mostly visible. When I found the whole bidet toilet seat i was amazed. I did some research and settled on the Kohler puretide it looked great and sounded like it fit my needs. My only concern was that it didn’t heat the water but that was a small concern since I live in Hawaii - warm year round. Installation took about 20 minutes for each bathroom and that included removing the existing regular toilet seats. The connections were very easy to do and it looks great in the bathroom. The only thing that looks out of the ordinary is the handle and that’s fine - it’s easy to reach and maneuver when you’re using it. Some people have complained about the size of the seat opening being smaller than a normal seat - but that is to be expected. You’re working with a standard sized toilet boil and you have to find a way to fit in the bidet functionality. That takes up space and there’s no way around that - you have to fit in the bidet’s functions somewhere and there’s no way around that. Also note I am a man and have no problem using it and feeling cramped and uncomfortable down there. My only concern is that when I have people over to my place and they use the guest bath, I have to explain to them to not turn it on unless they’re seated - unless they want to get sprayed with water and have water all over the floor. I’m incredibly happy and wish i had known about this seat years ago! It works like a charm. The spray is very strong and I can direct it as needed. My concern about not having heated water was a non-issue since my cold water isn’t ice cold. It also looks clean and sleek in the bathroom. (Note - I used the softness score to indicate “fit and comfort”. I gave it 4 stars since it feels different than my previous seat (naturally) and takes a bit of getting used to.)

So far so good
The KOHLER 5724-96 PureWash M250 has some good design features a couple that are highly questionable. The total install took about 30 minutes. I like the way the seat attaches to the toilet and how the seat can be easily removed for cleaning with a push of the button on the side opposite the water inlet. As others have reported there are just not enough threads in the included hose coupling nut to properly engage with the Bidet's water inlet port with the added thickness of the screen installed. So I chose to remove the inlet screen in order to get an additional 1-1/2 threads of engagement. If that causes problems in the future I will deal with it. I also like that the controls are easier to reach than some other designs. This control design, however; does present a huge potential of damage in the future and this is probably the reason others have reported leaks at the control handle. With the handle hanging out so far I can see how easily it will be to damage it and cause leaks if anyones puts any sort of downward, upward or sideways pressure on the control handle. It should only have rotational pressure applied to it. It should never be used as a hand hold or as an aid for getting off the toilet. It's just not robust enough for that and that amount of pressure and will surely crack the plastic where the handle rotates, potentially causing leaks. All in all I am very happy with this Bidet and am confident with the proper usage it will stand the test of time.

First time Bidet Users, Read This!!
If you are thinking of buying a bidet for the first time and you are wondering if its worth it, or if its better that whatever your doing now.... The answer is YES, you should buy a bidet. I am saying that as a very new first time owner myself having used this product for about two months. Being my first and only bidet, Its hard to compare this against other bidets. But I will say that my overall experience, the cost, ease of install and how well it works should earn this seat a solid 4 stars. Definitely a good purchase and I'm very happy with the results. I will by more the the rest of my bathrooms. Install: All the parts that come with the bidet are good quality, and the plumbing fasteners are all metal. If you have ever set a toilet or have done any work on a toilet before, then this will be super easy! If you have never worked on a toilet, don't worry, its still pretty easy and you find there are plenty of online videos to walk you through it. Keep in mind not all toilets are installed the same and I suppose there is a chance you might need to hit up a hardware store to get a part. But this was not the case for me. Once installed, It blew my mind how good it looked. At least on my toilet it looks perfect. Seriously it looks like it came with the toilet. Just be careful to get the correct "Round or Elongated" option and color. How does it work?.... I'm never going back!!! I got so sick and tired of wiping and wiping and wiping for mediocre results or just to have an itchy bum later in the day. Goodbye to that forever! I will always have a bidet for the rest of my life. My bum is so happy and healthy!! Q&A: -Does it get you completely clean? Yes it does, but you have to do it right. I learned that you need to move around. Make sure the beam of water hits all the right spots. I also give the back door a few good flexes open and closed while the beam of water is right there. "I'm sorry, that's the nicest way I could word that" -Did you stop using toilet paper? No. I still use TP to dry off and to make sure the bidet got everything completely clean. I do however us soooo much less TP that before. -Is a warm water bidet worth it? No. Cold water is great, not a shock at all. Even if you get a hot water bidet you will still get the initial cold water burst. If you get one that keeps water warm at the seat, then you are wasting money and energy 24 hours a day for about 10 seconds of warm water. Besides that area is always so hot, it could use a cool down from time to time. Here is some helpful T.M.I. I have to say that my first time, I was kind of expecting the stream to shoot across/over the top of my back door at an angle. NOPE, it fires a brisk straight shot into the keyhole!! But after a few uses you will realize that this is better and it was designed that way. just a friendly warning for first timers. This is a great purchase, make your bum happy.

Guaranteed to fail
**Second Update** OK, this Kohler bidet is garbage. First unit leaked and second unit sometimes leaks but recently the plastic that latches it into place broke. Engineered to fail. *UPDATE* In less than one month of using the bidet is leaking. As soon as you rotate the control arm water begins to leak out. I'm going to exchange it for another since I like everything about it, but it looks like this device wasn't engineered well since others are reporting the same thing in other reviews. ------------------------ So, 2 years ago I dipped my toes into the world of bidets purchasing an Alpha Bidet (version 1). It worked quite well for 2 years, but 3 things made me stop using it. 1. The gray rubber "feet" that you see on the Hibbetts model and Alpha model don't hold up. After awhile they start to tear and I ended up taking the feet from the lid and replacing the ones on the seat that tore (they bear the most weight). 2. The color is a bluish/purplish white that didn't quite match our Kohler toilet. 3. The way that it attaches to the toilet started to fail. The spring loaded quick release didn't click into place unless I pulled on it. So after getting rid of this I tried out the Brondell thin attachment. This installed easily and seemed well constructed. I was a bit wary of the thin plastic that the control attached to but underneath it has 2 pieces of metal for reinforcement. The issue with this one is it just doesn't hit the spot. On an elongated toilet I had to really sit back and lean forward which was uncomfortable. I'm not returning it because it was in our toilet and only $20, perhaps it'll see use another day. So, now to this bidet. First off, the color matches our toilet which is great. The rubber feet on the seat and lid seem much more durable than the gray feet on the Alpha bidet. Installation was a lot easier than the Alpha bidet as well, with the hardest part making the connections tight. The Alpha bidet had metal connections whereas this one is plastic. That's a bit of a shame. The seat itself seems much more durable than the Alpha bidet, but there is some squeaking of plastic under my keester. This one aims better than the Brondell attachment, but still doesn't match the sniper like accuracy of the Alpha bidet. However, using the control wand I'm able to strafe the "brown town" like a German Stuka in WW2. So far so good with this bidet, but if it fails miserable or starts leaking I'll be back to change my review.

Terrific Bidet
I've wanted a bidet for a long time, but I hesitated to get a non-electric one because I thought I'd want warm water. If I still lived in the frozen north, cold water might be an issue, but here in Texas, where cold water is never THAT cold, it's not a problem. I'm very happy with this bidet seat. In fact, I'm planning to order a second one for my powder room, because once you've used one of these, you'll never want to use anything else. I do have a couple of criticisms though. The first is that the seat itself is very lightweight plastic. It feels cheap. I bought a separate set of 4 bumpers to stabilize the seat on the toilet, but even after installing those, the seat still feels like cheap plastic when you sit on it. I'd pay a little more to have a better seat. That's not a big deal, but my second criticism is. It turns out that the 3-way T-adapter that came with this seat could only be threaded onto a KOHLER Fill Valve. Before installing the seat, I decided to replace the old FluidMaster Fill Valve inside the tank with a brand new FluidMaster Fill Valve. Everything worked great (no leaks) until I tried to screw the 3-way T-adapter onto the water inlet, which is actually the section of threaded shank at the very bottom of the fill valve that fits through the hole in the bottom of the tank. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a decent connection. When I finally did manage to attach the adapter, it leaked, so I turned off the water and took everything apart. Then, with nothing else attached, and with the fill valve shank in one hand and the T-adapter in the other, I tried connecting the two, but still no luck: the T-adapter simply would not screw onto the fill valve threaded shank. When I looked closely, it appeared that the threads were different. So I went to the hardware store, taking the 3-way T-adapter with me, and once there, I headed straight to the plumbing department where I tried screwing the Kohler adapter onto a Kohler Fill Valve. Voila! Problem solved. So I bought a Kohler Fill Valve and once I installed that inside the tank, I had no more problems. This is a great product, but be aware that it may be necessary to use a Kohler fill valve when you’re installing this seat.

Looks and feels Premium
Update 04/01/23. I bought a 2nd one for an elongated toilet. The installation was easier this time since I ignored the instructions from the manual lol. Better instructions: 1. Turn off the water and drain the toilet bowl tank. 2. Put a pan under for water leakage and disconnect the inlet hose from the tank bottom. 3. Connect the water inlet hose and L shaped end of white bidet hose to T adapter. It's easier to do this before you install the T. 2. Connect T to tank. 3. Then installed the mounting bracket, in my case, as far from the water tank as it would let me so the seat can snap into place later. Pull the bracket towards you as you tighten the screws. Make sure the washer is installed the way the picture shows in manual (the only time I followed the manual). 4. Attach the bidet hose to toilet seat 5. Slide toilet seat onto mounting bracket until you hear a click. Check the button on the side to make sure it is not still depressed. When properly in place the toilet seat does not shift at all. Try pulling the seat towards you. If it slides forward, you didn't push it in far enough. This is the cause of all the reviews who say the toilet slides, shifts, or doesn't stay in place. Important: Ignore the instructions about turning it 1/4 past hand tightening with a wrench. You only need to hand tighten. In my first install, I used a wrench and overtightened it causing it to leak until I added plumbers tape. This time I only hand tightened, no plumbers tape and everything was fine. You just need to tighten it as much as you can by hand. These hoses all have rubber gaskets that will create a seal. If you overtighten it, the seal won't work properly and you will get a leak. Plumbers never use a wrench on these kind of connections which I learned later. You can always tighten with a wrench if you see any part leaking after you install. In my case, that wasnt needed. For reference, I have left my original review. Note that I no longer have a problem with wiggle in that toilet either after fixing it. After more 2 years, the 1st bidet is still working great! I've had to remove the spray tip a few times to clean it (easy), but otherwise no maintenance needed and no leaking. I still think this is a great manual biddet and that the bad reviews are due to bad installation. I don't know what people are doing to break that lever, for example. Did they twist so hard it somehow broke? Now my only wish is that I had an outlet behind my toilet bowl so I can install an electronic bidet. Cold water bidet in a new York winter is brutal! Lol But way better than not having one at all. 05/30/21 original review. I almost didn't buy this due to some of the reviews, but I'm glad I did. Replaced my tiny Dual Max Toto toilet seat (round) with this one. The hole is the same size length, a bit wider on the sides which is nice. I wish it was longer but I've already resigned myself to fate having gotten used to the tiny Toto seat. The seat stays up when needed and soft closes. It covers the entire back of my toilet so there are less places for dirt to show, and it comes off easily for cleaning. 1. Pretty easy to install. I overthreaded the t valve and had a scare (it leaked immediately from the little water left on the bottom of the tank), but was fine when I loosened it a bit. Do not overtighten like I did! Lol. Got smarter and used plumber's tape on all connections and only tightened with channellock one quarter turn. 2. The quality of the hardware and materials is superior. I don't understand the reviewers who said the washer was too small. It needs to be installed the long way. Of course if you align it on the long end with the hole it's not going to work. The picture in the instructions clearly show the proper way to install it. Don't worry about those reviews. It's simply improper installation. Actually, 99% of the bad reviews are due to improper installation. 3. The lever looks great and fit into my tight alcove no problem. Using the lever is a breeze and I love that you can adjust the position of the jet. 4. The water pressure is great and strong on full blast. I love that different size jets were included but they weren't needed in my case. 5. The seat does move a bit from side to side (my older seat also did that though not as much) and has a tendency to slightly skew to one side after using the lever which is a bit annoying. It's probably an intentional design to allow some give for the quick detach feature but it is annoying and one reviewer mentioned putting a piece of plastic to hold it in place which I might try. 6. Finally, I love the white hose. Nice touch, way nicer than my other hose connection and it really helps to hide it visually. Overall, a great bidet. Time will tell if it lasts. But I trust Kohler way more than anything else out there at this price range.

Not very durable and EXTREMELY difficult to install per the instructions
Bought one of these in 2019, worked well enough but ended up breaking within 3 years. The part that broke was the plastic tabs on the seat that secure it to the mounting bracket. The plastic tabs broke so the seat would move if you weren't careful when you got up. I was less than satisfied with the longevity so I looked into getting a different bidet seat from a different brand. As it turns out if you have a Kohler toilet that's biscuit (not white) colored it's going to be impossible to find a bidet seat (or probably any seat) that matches the color of the toilet from anyone else besides Kohler. So I bought another one, then when it came to install it I remembered a problem I had with the original seat. Basically the metal threads on the included hose are barely long enough to grab the soft nylon threads on the seat, and if you install the included filter there really isn't enough threads to mate everything together. On my original seat I recall it took me more than an hour to get the hose threaded on with the filter installed. This time I just took the filter out completely which made installation much easier. I might (but probably won't) buy a third party replacement hose that will let me install the filter. Kohler could have avoided this problem by making the metal threads on the hose just 1/4" longer or by having metal threads on the seat instead of soft nylon threads or by designing the filter so it doesn't stick out past the end of the nylon threads. Would have cost them probably less than $0.50 to design this so it was easy to install.

Good Product; Easy to Install
This Kohler bidet seat is a great addition to a traditional toilet. The operation is simple and the installation is easy. Anyone with a modest amount of mechanical skill can accomplish the installation in approximately 30 minutes. The simple installation is possible because it uses the existing cold water supply from the toilet and does not require any electricity for operation. For most people, this simple unit that looks just like a traditional toilet seat is more than adequate.
